Cape Utopia - we found utopia in Cape Charles! A fantastic, beach town and historic home with everything you need. Enjoy the park, playground, and running track nearby, sample all the shops, restaurants, & bars 2 streets over on main street, and walk, bike, or drive your golf cart rental to the beach. Then come back to your quiet utopia on a residential street and enjoy the darling front porch, as well as the well-equipped home. We have provided everything! Linens, baby/toddler/kid items, beach chairs, beach towels, and blankets, smart TVs throughout the home, in addition to a kitchen with all your needs. Don't stress over packing, just grab a swimsuit and come enjoy our sweet little beach town! Check out our sister property Cape Serendipty (the other side of the duplex) if you need more space.

Everything you need and more

Clean, comfortable beds, close to town and beach, beach chairs, beach towels provided and a beautiful porch to sit and watch the world go by. Fantastic stay. Will be back!

Outstanding

This is our 2nd consecutive Summer staying here and we will probably be back for a third consecutive Summer in 2025. We love this property and this town.

Early October on the Eastern Shore of Virginia

What a great trip! Our first trip to the Eastern Shore and it won't be out last. What a terrific VRBO. It had everything we needed and more. Loved the historic home. Our host, Elizabeth, was attentive and welcoming. We will be back to Cape Charles and we will return to this home. The location was centrally located and we enjoyed our walks to the beach and to the main street area. Can't recommend more highly!

Perfect for Small Families

The perfect house for a family with young kids. Clean, comfy, well-appointed and in a great location. Great communication with the owner. Definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Great little gem in Cape Charles

This property was a great find for our first time in Cape Charles. We stayed with another family and had three young kids. Lots of toys and kid/baby supplies that made our trip easier. FWIW you’ll get the code to get into the house after the cleaners leave on the day of check in. Good communication with the owner.

A Cute House in a Cute Town

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Cape Charles and staying at Cape Utopia. The property was clean and spacious and the neighborhood was really quiet. I particularly liked sitting on the porch in the morning with my coffee, reading my book.

Great family week

We loved staying! We have been to Cape Charles before but this was the best week so far! The house was perfect for our family. We had friends vacationing in town as well and loved the front porch and plenty of space to have them over for dinner. The house was clean, well appointed with ANYTHING you need. The host was amazing and we are looking forward to returning!

Mother’s Day/Birthday getaway

We surprised my mom with a trip to Cape Charles. She had never been. so she was delighted. We have stayed at this location before. It is perfect for us. 😊 the house has so much charm and they have thought of everything you could possible need and more. This is our first choice when coming to Cape Charles. See you next trip. 😊

Great house great location

Excellent location. Nice stock of get started essentials. Comfortable beds. Love the covered front porch. Only thing I would have liked is a bigger refrigerator. Lots of little extras like beach towels bad chairs. Great for babies with a pack and play and high chair seat. Tv in all bedrooms. It’s a duplex but I only heard the neighbors slightly once or twice. Not a problem.

Highly Recommended

I won't even begin to write about everything we liked because this would turn into an exceedingly long post. Considering the price, I don't see how anyone could give this charming listing and wonderful hostess anything less than 5 stars! We enjoyed it so much we booked a return trip next summer.

Perfect getaway

My friends and I loved everything about this house! It’s clean, cozy, and comfortable - felt like visiting an older relative’s home. The AC units in each room worked great to keep it cool and were easy to operate. The front porch is a delightful spot to have a cup of coffee and catch up. We liked being close enough to walk to the beach and into town. We visited shops and restaurants and saw a free concert in the park. We might be back next year!

Welcoming home in the heart of Cape Charles

We were very glad to call Cape Utopia home during our recent visit to Cape Charles. The location is great, just a block from the park and a few blocks further to the beach. The home was just as advertised and included many thoughtful touches, such as power strips with USB ports, plenty of linens and dishes, beach items, extra seating, sturdy hangers, basic toiletries, more than enough toilet paper (not even the thin scratchy kind!) and paper towels, baby items (we did not need these, but it's lovely they were available), etc. It's clear that lots of thought and intention was put into preparing the home for guests, and we appreciate it. Cape Utopia was a great fit for us, and would happily stay there again!

A True Utopia!!!

Along with The Shanty and Brown Dog Ice Cream...Cape Utopia needs to be on your list of things to check out while in Cape Charles!!! The front porch is PERFECT for early morning coffee and end of day cocktails. The bedrooms are beautiful and BIG with comfy mattresses that have the kind of pillows you have at home and with 2 full bathrooms...we never had to wait. All of this is made possible by Elizabeth...the incredible host who thought of everything with Cape Utopia. She was easy to communicate with, provided tons of beach towels and amenities, and made my friends and family feel as though we were the only people in town. 10/10, cant wait to come again.

Lovely home in Cape Charles

We enjoyed a four night stay over Memorial Day weekend in Cape Charles. We had been to Cape Charles the year before and knew the neighborhood -- staying by the park is a great, quaint block, but is a little bit of a walk with young kids. We knew this going into it and had fun renting a golf cart for our final day there. The house is nicely decorated and is homey. The host has thought of everything a family with young children might want from kids dishes to a kitchen chair attachment to sheets for a crib if you need it. There were toys inside and outside and we used the beach chairs and towels too. The rooms were bright in the early morning with thin curtains but we're mostly early risers anyway. Check-in was a little hard but I think this was only because we were the first people of the season. The host graciously allowed some flexibility with adding back in a day we had previously cut off. She was easy to work with and obviously cares a lot about her property and the experience her guests have at the house.

Great house but poor communication

The house is in a great location. It is close to the park and a golf cart drive away from the beach and the shops. The host provided beach chairs, umbrella, floats and towels. The house was clean, spacious and had plenty of amenities. The rating is representative of the communication challenges. The day before check in I asked if we would receive access instructions prior to the check in time. I received a 2 paragraph lecture text on why it would not be sent until 4pm the next day. A simple yes would have been enough. On Monday I texted her to report the outdoor outlets did not work. She said she would send someone out. I did not hear from her for the rest of the day so I reached out and asked if anyone came by. Her reply was a 2 paragraph lecture stating that I had an unattended dog on my reservation. She said she would contact me in the morning with a time that an electrician would stop by. I reminded her I had paid the pet fee and sent her a screenshot of the conversation from 7 months prior where she acknowledged the dogs and updated the reservation. I never heard from her the rest of the week. The electrician did not stop by and she not once reply to any of my follow up texts. We still have not heard from her so I hope everything is ok.

Great vacation home in Cape Charles

We really loved staying at this home. It was stocked with literally everything you could possibly need. The beds are super comfortable, it was easy to keep the cottage cool, the location is great, and they were pet friendly which was great for our first vacation with our pup. The home is a great mix of vintage and antique charm but modern amenities - the bathrooms are great!

A Few Days at the Beach

We had a wonderful stay at Cape Utopia. The house was lovely and had everything we needed. The location was perfect, just a few short blocks to the shopping area and a quick jaunt to the beach. The house was especially well set up for children and our dog, with a baby gate, leash tether, big yard, and lots of space.

Nice house!

Nice house! An outdoor shower for after the beach would have been helpful but nevertheless, a very comfy stay in a home with historic charm and TVs in every room 😀 Owner provided loads of conveniences like beach chairs, towels, popcorn maker, and more!

Excellent property

This charming home provided everything we needed and then some, it is well appointed and spankin' clean. We felt immediately at home, will definitely return. The back yard was helpful for our dogs as well as the gate for the porch steps, too!
