Lovely getaway

Black Bear House provided a wonderful, peaceful getaway, with a well-maintained home in a beautiful setting. The owners were very responsive.

Black Bear House Review

Well kept and clean home. Very responsive property manager. Great location and the house contained pretty all the essentials.

Last minute visit

We visited the area for an unplanned event. Booking this property was extrememly easy and convenient. The house was exactly as expected with beautiful views. I cooked a Thanksgiving meal in the well stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable, and the house was clean. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Lovely home with fantastic views!/

This was our second stay at Black Bear House. It is one of the best equipped homes we have rented. There is no Wi-Fi or cable tv (local stations), but we didn't turn on the TV. We spent our time sightseeing and catching up with friends. It is a short distance from the parkway, which we love to drive.

Great Views

The house was exceptionally clean and has great outside seating with incredible views. Jane, one of the owners, was very prompt giving answers when contacted with questions. She is also the most thorough in determining the needs of the renters prior to their stay. The beds were very comfortable and the house was a great layout over all. You will not be disappointed in this beautiful house with the great location!!

Nice, but no internet.

Located really close to Blueridge parkway, nice little house on a hill. Only problem was lack of internet and no way have any cellular connection between hills, what can make using sat navigations complicated.

Thank you for your review. We are a little surprised with your comments about no internet especially with your comment to us: “Everything was great! Thank you! “ We asked you to let us know if there was anything missing that would help make it a better experience. At this time affordable internet is not available. Yes, we could get Hughes Net but it is expensive and slow. With our phone service we can access the internet at the house since we are almost at the top of the hill. Down lower there is no service available. That’s the mountains. We do plan to get internet when AT&T makes it available or another cable provider decides to go into our area. Since we did not advertise having internet/wifi on VRBO and our introduction letter stated, sorry, no wifi, we expect this to be a suggestion and put directly to us and not in the review. But, again, thanks for staying with us.

Fantastic Black Bear House

The owners have a beautiful property and have it thoughtfully stocked. The decor is comfy and cozy. The view from the deck is amazing, with a view of Table Rock Mountain. We grilled on the Forman Grill on the deck & made S’mores with their S’mores maker. It is just a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We went into Spruce Pine and dined at the Tropical Grill. We drove to Mount Mitchell. It is such a beautiful area and a short drive to so many things.

Last minute get away for fall

I decided last minute to take my family away for the weekend to experience the fall colors. The house was exactly what we needed, convenient location with a yard for the kids to run around and a fire pit for evening star watching. It was perfect for our short stay, we mostly slept there and did outings during the day. The only downfall was the fridge was not working, but this was communicated to me prior to check in and they offered a mini fridge for our stay. The views of table rock can’t be beat. We loved sitting out on the porch for morning coffee.

Amazing sunrises over Table Rock Mountain!

Location, location, location! Right off the BR Parkway and close to Linville Winery, Linville Falls, Crabtree Falls, easy drive to Grandfather. The cabin is very clean and well appointed, including firewood for the fire pit, making it for an easy long weekend stay. We did have some issues and had to call the owner. They called us back right away and were on the property within two hours to try to fix the problem. They did also issue a small refund for the inconvenience.

Great place!

Loved our stay at the Black Bear House! It was super cute and clean. Didn’t realize from the pictures that all the bedrooms are downstairs so my 89 year old mom had to go up and down more than I would have liked but fortunately she is in great shape for her age. We celebrated her birthday there and the owners had decorated with a Happy Birthday banner, balloons and a birthday card. So special!! View of Table Rock mountain was wonderful and we got great pictures of the sunrise. The location was really convenient with easy access to Blue Ridge Parkway. The Tropical Grill in Spruce Pine was a good find for dinner, eclectic place but food was great! Would definitely go back to Black Bear house. Communication with owners was really good. House doesn’t have internet and cell service is not great but for a few days is not a problem for us.

Good Times at Black Bear House

The house in a great location extremely close to the BR parkway and not far from Linville Falls. The house is clean and we’ll equipped. The bears decor and the S’mor maker were a hit with the kids. We recommend this home for anyone who enjoys the BR Parkway and wants to unplug in a nice cozy house with beautiful views. The owners were easy to communicate with too. Thanks for the great times and memories!

Mountain Getaway

The view from the front porch is out of this world! The property was outstanding, very clean and well appointed. Very much in line with the listing details. Very nice attention to detail in the decor and there most consumables you would need were supplied to make a very pleasant stay The kitchen was well appointed for preparing Thanksgiving meal, and the game room was a nice added bonus. The orientation information provided at check-in was very thorough and helpful and Jane was very responsive for any questions. She usually replied within 10 minutes for any questions. Would definitely stay here again!

Charming get-a-way

A charming home that is very clean and well maintained. Updated and well equipped kitchen. The day begins with incredible sun rise views of Table Rock. In the evening, the day closes around the fire pit. An enjoyable stay !

Darling Cabin- Perfect for Families of all Ages

This cabin was so great! Minutes from the best parts of the blue ridge parkway, yet an easy, novice drive. The house is located in a nice mountain neighborhood that climbs up in elevation. The views and sunsets were spectacular. They have a perfectly manicured flat front yard, that our school age kids spent so much time running around. They have a nice fire pit that sits out front with comfy chairs. The house was hands down the cleanest rental that we have ever stayed in. Spotless. The decor was very nostalgic and our kids loved the game room. They even provided games and coloring books for the family- oh our kids learned how to play bingo. So sweet. I would highly recommend this house. Close enough to everything. We even drove the parkway to Boone and it wasn’t bad at all- in fact you get to see the entire parkway. I’d recommend to those trying to explore new areas. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Burgess for a wonderful weekend. They were very responsive and kind. You can’t go wrong with this property.
