Bunkhouse at English Mountain-Unlimited creek access-Farm Views
We are located in a small mountain farming community in East Tennessee. A place where men were raised to be a jack of all trades and their women folk could use any material to make useful clothing or quilts with a sewing needle and make a savory supper out of what was growing or caught, fished, or hunted. Clearing lands for pasture and lumber was a necessity that became common place on the early American farm. Inviting folks to MH Farm is a personal matter. The value placed on this community, it’s peace and serenity, cannot be overemphasized. MH Farm is inviting you and your family to get a close up look at how Mountain peoples lived and worked. The Bunkhouse will allow you to go back in time and explore outside: a mountain creek, gather wood for your own fire, cook with cast iron, visit local trout streams, hiking trials, lakes, preserved mountain homesteads, etc; inside: books, stories, pictures, and information about southern Applachian Mountains and our people. The Bunkhouse has 3 bedrooms: two full size beds, 2 bunk cots, 2 full baths, master bath has a garden tub. A fully equipped kitchen, with cast iron pans, fireplace, gas grill, fire pit at the home and another at the creek across the road. TV has a basic antenna that picks up local channels only and a DVD player. We have a family dvd library for guests to use while here. Front covered porch has porch swing, seasonal tree nuts for snacking, chess, checkers, and horse shoes for sport. Back porch has gas grill and picnic table.
The Bunkhouse has a wood shed for storing your outdoor equipment: kayaks, bikes..etc. Bring your own lock. Making moonshine is, unfortunately, associated with this area. MH logging operations is a dry farm community. Many a mountain life has been destroyed by the devil’s drink. One of Terrie Lynn’s grandfathers spent sorrowful time in prison for self defense/murder of a first cousin—over property lines/moonshine coil disputes. Drinking sweet tea and dopes/sodas and water are strongly suggested. Maps of the mountain areas are posted throughout the Bunkhouse with information of attractions, trails, and eatn’ places. A small library, board games, song books, historical and Biblical information abounds in the Bunkhouse for your enjoyment. You will need your own bedrolls/sleeping bags, wash rags, and towels. Anything you want to eat bring it, grow it, or kill it (hunting areas available in state designated forests) You will be provided with dish rags, some soap, some paper towels, some tissue paper, some trash bags. If you find the need to get away from the stresses of Mountain bunkhouse life, White Oak Flats ( Gatlinburg) is 30 miles south, near Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. Rankin Bottoms wildlife viewing, kayaking, fishing, boating are 14 miles north. Trout streams at Cosby are 4 to 14 miles East. White water rafting is 14 miles southeast. GSMNP entrance at the visitor center at Sugarlands is 32 miles south where you will find all the information about mountain living and plan your exploration of back country homesteads and the kin and neighbors that settled here. Guests will receive a message from us before checking in to remind them to bring their bedding and bath needs. Guests will then be told where to find the keys and any seasonal important weather information, or property updates, etc. Guests are invited to view farm animals safely. Feeding farm animals is prohibited. Guests are encouraged to text if they have questions about access to property not mentioned. Also, The Bunkhouse is designed for "bunking". Two full size beds, with mattress covers that are washed with each check out, are available. Two bunk cots are also available. We do not offer sheets, pillows, or blankets. We do not provide bath linens. We do provide some paper towels, some toilet paper, dish towels, and dish cloths, some hand soap, some dish soap. This design allows us to keep our prices low all year round.
We encourage guests to adopt the idea of less is more! Bring your sleeping bags and pillows. Bring one towel and wash cloth for each member of your family.
Prepare to unplug! No Wi-Fi is available.

Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Tim and Terrie Lynn O’Lear
We are descendants of Tennessee First Families.
Tim’s mother’s family goes back to late 1700s-1800s in Greene and Cocke counties. Terrie Lynn’s through her father and mother through their mothers go back to 1790s to present in Cocke County. Her Granddaddy Conard and his siblings were born in Cataloochee, NC which is now part of the GSMNP.
Tim grew up in Rankin area of Cocke County fishing and hunting. Terrie Lynn grew up beside the generational family farm in the Cosby area working in the tomato and tobacco fields riding horses and swimming. We grew up attending our local churches and participating in family get togethers.
We desired and were allowed to do the same for our children. So we have worked hard carving out a homeplace for them to grow up working and enjoying in and near our mountain homeplaces, churches, and heritage.
Our farmhouse, barn, out buildings have been built from the trees cut and logged from this land by our families and our church families; like our ancestors have done.
We enjoy sharing what we have been given. We love encouraging others to appreciate their heritage; where they have come from. We hope by spending quiet time in these mountains guests will reflect on God's goodness in their families lives. We hope they come away refreshed to go back home and continue to be good, faithful, and moral citizens of this God blessed nation we all call home, The USA!!!

Por qué eligió esta propiedad
The Bunkhouse was our very first home! We bought it in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. We moved it to Hamblen County, Tennessee until we could afford land here in our home county. We brought home our first three children to the Bunkhouse. We lived in the Bunkhouse until we were able to build the front part of our farmhouse. We then were able to move the Bunkhouse down to the corner of our pasture. We remodeled and began renting monthly at first. We eventually started renting and targeted families vacationing to this location. We enjoy all the sounds the mountains here affords us. We like looking at the different sky scenery at differing times of the year. We love the fresh air, wildflowers, berries in season. We enjoy all the birds, owls, bugs, sounds throughout the year. We love the changing seasons we have here in East Tennessee. We love and enjoy all the water play and fishing of our area.
We truly hope guests will get out and enjoy the creeks, lakes, GSMNP, rivers, and fishing and hunting while they are here.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad
Our property is going to have a unique touch that most others in our area don’t: US!!! We are from here generationally. We know what draws most people to the mountains : peacefulness, serenity; which comes from quiet moments listening to the sounds of a nearby stream; gazing upon breathtaking views; or quiet walks in the woods.
The world is full of noise and busyness.
Here guests can feel like their coming to their families mountain home. We leave them alone. We mind our own business. They feel safe, secure, peaceful, they can rest from all the noise.
We live here. We are not an agency or cabin rental company. We are usually available, if help is needed.
