SandyCabins Duplex Beach House - Garden Side Cabin

This knotty pine duplex cabin is situated among young fruit trees with a private barking sand beach on the beautiful Lake Huron. With a fire pit, a bountiful garden and lots of sand, this charming cabin is the perfect place for a large family holiday or a group trip to the beach.
Our cabin faces the garden, but it is just a few steps around the back for direct access to our private beach which you’ll share with the guests in the Lake Side Cabin. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of sand for everyone!
A charcoal grill awaits your brats or steaks or whatever was on sale at Walt’s Meat Market across the street.

This can be a quiet romantic getaway for long walks on the beach, or an exciting family splash fest with fire roasted hot dogs and scorched marshmallows. We ask our guests to leave the cabin as they found it. Pets are allowed with $150 pet fee. Please keep your pets off the beds, couch and the loft, and keep them in crates when you leave the cabin without them.

Late August 2024 Stay

Great location and beach. Very nice and clean accomodations. Three things keep me from giving this an outstanding rating. Wasn't thrilled with shower. Being six foot tall and a senior, didn't like having to climb into the tub and then dealing with a shorter shower head. Had to rotate the couch so that we could both face the tv tucked up in a corner. And the WiFi was painfully slow. But let me close by emphasizing that the beach and housing were otherwise outstanding!

Perfect Lake Front Getaway!

This was our family’s second time visiting Port Austin. We stayed at Sandy Cabins last year, and we loved it so much that we decided to stay there again this year.

Very nice pet-friendly cabin

The cabin was very clean and roomy. Parking was a little tight for multiple vehicles, but the property felt nicely secluded. The hosts also provided plenty of thoughtful extras. Would definitely recommend.

Family Fourth Adventure

This was a lovely home that was perfect for our extended family. We rented both the garden and beach sides. I would highly recommend this property, very well-stocked pet friendly for an additional fee and the most amazing beachfront. The neighbors did a great 4th of July display for an added bonus.

Wonderful beach home

The was in need of a few minor repairs and the upstairs had a smell, but one it was aired out it was fine. It was in a great location and overall a beautiful beach experience.

Beautiful beachfront

Clean and comfortable beds and pillows. We loved the beach, can’t beat Lake Huron! Walts meat market is one minute away and has everything you many need. Short drive to downtown Port Austin. Great host and we will visit again. Amazing soaking tub with plenty of hot water.

Nice property. Please note all pics showing Beach and waterfront are a short walk past attached cottage (that is actually on the beach). This really is a shared property with beach access. Owner was very good in communicating upon my request.

Port Austin Perfection!

My family and I had an amazing time at the Sandy Cabins! It was our first time visiting Port Austin, and we made memories that will last a lifetime. The cabin is very cozy, with a rustic feel. It has plenty of space for your family, plus everything you need for the perfect up north experience. The beach is just steps away and is absolutely beautiful. We went there every day during our visit. Besides the beach, the cabin has a great fire pit and Adirondack chairs for the best up north campfire experience! Perfect for making s’mores! The cabin is also close to many activities and restaurants. This was my daughter’s first up north Michigan trip. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better experience for her. Last, but certainly not least, Paul is an amazing host. He is very accommodating and quick to respond to any messages you send him. We will definitely visit Port Austin again, and we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else!

Beautiful Cozy Cottage with beach

This house worked Perfectly for our party of four. The beach is beautiful and it is located on the highway right in the middle of Caseville and Port Austin. It was well stocked in a semi-private setting. The only downfall was the spiral staircase. It is meant for smaller people and could be hard to maneuver. We would stay here again for sure.

Clean and comfortable

I really enjoyed this cabin. It was probably the cleanest rental I have ever had! Anything we needed was there and the location to the town was great. Definitely recommend.

We had the best time here, everything was clean and well stocked with everything needed to cook. I'd suggest bringing a small fan for upstairs just because heat rises and it was a bit stuffy. We will for sure come back and after showing pictures to other family members they are asking for information to schedule at some point!

It was a great experience. Paul was very helpful with our needs. The property was very clean. My only suggestion is on the Vrbo app you should make it clear Unit B does not face the water. We assumed it did according to the pictures. Thank you for a nice stay.

A charming cabin on the lake

This was our second trip to “The Thumb” and we have fallen in love with the area. Paul and Jade have created a quaint cabin with everything you’d need. It’s roomy (we had 5 adults), with a fully appointed kitchen, a washer and dryer which was a HUGE help, comfortable beds, a nice fire pit, air conditioning, and best of all just a few steps down to the beach! Neighbors were very friendly as well. Paul and Jade were also very prompt in communications whenever we had questions. We HIGHLY recommend Sandy Cabins and can’t wait to come back!

Great location

We had a wonderful time. Great house and location. Beach is beautiful. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on how many cars you take and if there is someone in the other cabin but we made it work.

Wonderful get away.

This was everything it promised us it would be. Smelled clean, was clean. Awesome toilet, haven’t flushed one like that in a long time 😊. 5/5 would absolutely stay here again.
