If you are visiting Dover Plains or attending a wedding or other event at Preston Barn this is a great place to stay as it is only 1.5 miles down the road from Preston Barn/Old Dover Inn. The house was very clean and sits on a pretty small river where the bird watching is awesome. We enjoyed the deck and bird watching (including a young eagle and blue heron), pool sitting and playing bocce on the lawn. Having a bathroom for each bedroom was very nice and the bedrooms and bathrooms were a nice size. The kitchen was well-appointed for cooking. This was a great place to stay with a group of 7 family members.

Exactly as pictured. Host was super responsive. We arrived much later than anticipated and I called the host quite late. She answered immediately and helped navigate internet setup. When we left, I accidentally left a backpack with my work laptop! The host immediately sent it via FedEx. I cannot express enough gratitude for that!!!! She took care to make sure everything was properly protected and sent tracking information. The home is exceptionally well stocked. The kitchen had literally everything you could want in it. The beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of linens. This place is a 10 out of 10! We will definitely book again next year! We were not able to enjoy the outdoor space or the pool - but I can say that it was beautiful. Next year we will plan to take full advantage!

Marie was an excellent host. She shared detailed information for our stay and was very quick to respond to our questions. Incredibly accommodating and an absolutely beautiful home. Would 1000% stay here again!

Wonderful house

Location was amazing. Traveled with family from ages 4 to 84 and everyone had a great time. Property manager was great & easy to communicate with. The pool area needs some work as tiles fell out while we were in it and tiles around the pool were uneven, posing a danger of tripping. The listing didn't include what comes in the house: fully stocked kitchen, shampoo, conditioner & liquid soap are provided, and beach towels too. I wish I knew before because I packed everything in anticipation of these things not being provided. But other than the pool issue, we had a lovely time & would go back. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean.

Ten Stars for Ten Mile River!

We had an amazing stay here! The house and property are lovely: the house is compact, cozy and well maintained with big sliding doors in the dining/ sitting areas that open to a wide deck with incredible views of the lawn, river and passing wildlife. (Cardinals, blue jays, heron, osprey and two magnificent bald eagles kept us company all summer long.) The two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs are all very comfy; there's a small office that made WFH possible and lots of amenities too - the foosball, bocce court and horseshoes were in constant use. The pool is a short walk across the grass and it was delightful to swim under big open skies with an elegant weeping willow nearby. Markets were about 10-15 minutes away, great pizza, burger, bakeries and ice cream spots are also nearby and lots of options for hikes/ nature walks. It was the perfect balance of quiet and connected - highly recommend!
