Explore all the Finger Lakes has to offer at Etal! Latin meaning "and others," Etal is located just minutes from Watkins Glen, and a short drive to Ithaca. This lovely quintessential cabin in the woods features fantastic Seneca Lake views and level lakefront. Offering accommodations for a group of 9, Etal offers three bedrooms, a loft and bunk house. Inside, beautiful knotty pine hugs both the walls and ceilings throughout Etal. The entry level layout flows freely from one room to the next with large windows and sliding glass doors accenting the lake views from the distance. Once in the kitchen, tall white custom cabinets hold all the cooking and baking ware your group of travelers could need for preparing your favorite meals. Granite countertops and stone backsplash add a special decorative touch to an already well-designed room. Being a seasonal home, dinning is done alfresco on the lakeside deck. A small table top inside acts as a breakfast bistro, or game table for two. The living room provides a cozy retreat any time of day. The Cozy blue sofas welcome you with comfortable seating for a cup of coffee to start your day, or a glass of Finger Lakes wine to end the night with. Completing the entry level, you'll find one of the three private bedrooms and the full bath. The lower level features the third private bedroom and half bath. All beds have ** NEW MATTRESSES**. House water comes from the Lake and is filtered. While it is safe to bathe with, we do not recommend using for drinking, please bring your own beverages. Outside, a covered patio off the lower level hosts a hot tub and outside shower. The nearby bunk house offers additional living space and trundle style sleeping. The stairway to the lakefront provides a landing midway down to stop and take in the panoramic view. Once at the lakefront, 80'of useable natural level frontage is available and enjoyable for guests of all ages to get in and out of the water. The large dock offers plenty of space for sun bathing, fishing, or just visiting with friends and family. Located right in the heart of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, Etal has several fine wineries nearby such as Catherine Valley Winery, Silver Springs, J.R. Dill Winery and Chateau LaFayette Reneau. Enjoy a day trip into Watkins Glen and visit Watkins Glen International for a race or one of their many events throughout the summer. Hike a Watkins Glen State Park and enjoy dinner out on Captain Bill's Cruise Boat, or at the Seneca Harbor Station. This is a seasonal cabin and there is"NO" heating or A/C units. We had a fantastic trip to the cabin. Check in was easy, the house was clean for it being a cabin, the fans provided kept the cabin cool enough to enjoy. The lake and all the supplies for the lake were much appreciated by our crew. We enjoyed the sunsets and hot tub. The location is great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for the great communication and fun weekend!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great lakefront location and easy, short drive to Watkins Glen. We particularly enjoyed the provided kayaks along with all the other provided beach equipment including various sizes of life jackets. Directions provided were exact. Just make sure to look for the property management sign on your right and the house number will be on the tree. We made the mistake of driving past it to the end of the road and got confused by the house number sequence.

I was very pleased with our stay. We were in town for our son's wedding and took a week to vacation with the whole family. We all had our own room so that was very nice. There were spices available for cooking which came in handy since we cooked every meal there. We did seem to run out of towels but it was fine since we had the washer and dryer which we enjoyed so very much. We loved the kayaks and enjoyed being on the lake. The lake was so very clear and my (grown) kids were so impressed with the clarity. There were plenty of dishes available for all our needs, plenty of pots and pans to use. It is a little confusing to find because the map takes you to the end of the road but if you look for the actual address on the right, you will be ok. I would definitely stay here again.

Our cabin stay was just what we were looking for! We loved the setting and that we had access to the water and dock. They provided so many amenities to use on or in the water and things were well organized and labeled. We really appreciated that. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen and the bathroom were great and had everything we needed (just make sure to bring your own beach towels). We thought it was a really lovely space. The hot tub was delightful! Communication with the host was efficient. We really loved our stay here and don't have any complaints.

Will be back, don't hesitate, just lovely. Can't beat Seneca and Cayuga waterfronts for your dollar, just the best, and this one's fantastic.

Very cute rustic house

We had difficulty finding the house first - you need to pay attention to signs.House is very cute, tastefully decorated, very well stocked. Plenty of kid’s toys, inflatables, live vests, fishing rods. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. Would definitely stay again.

This was a great place to stay, with the perfect amount of privacy and fun! It looks exactly like the pictures, and we had no issues what so ever.

Family time at the lake

Great house over looking seneca lake. Beatiful and quiet. Privat pier for swimming and relaxing. Great views frim the deck while grilling. Convenient to local attractions. Watkins Glen Gorge is a must see.

Rustic lake cottage

My family of 9 loved the quirkiness of the place. The kitchen was very well equipped and the overall vibe was very relaxing. My only complaint would be that a lot of the doors did not latch properly. We would stay again though.

A bit rustic, but fun!

Pros: lake front, fun, holds a large family, eating on the porch was relaxing, location, hot tub Cons: could use a deep clean: items in kitchen cabinets a bit grimy, musty smell lower level, come prepared with drinking water Overall, we had a great time. Thank you!

The cabin was cute and comfortable. Everything was as expected. Unfortunately, there were large cockroaches all over the house. Some pest mantinence is definitely needed.

Beautiful location

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved the place. The bunk house had loads of cobwebs though and doesn't look like it has been used in a while so no one in our group wanted to use it. I just have an overall issue with the increased prices of VRBO's with the added fees. There is a company that managed this property and then VRBO's fees on top of that made it expensive. VRBO properties used to be comparable to nice hotels but now they are well above that. Hope that can change because we love staying in houses as opposed to hotels.

Relaxing Stay But Could Have Used Cleaning

The property was perfectly situated on Seneca Lake and access to the house was uncomplicated. While we enjoyed our time there, the bathroom, and in particular the shower, seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Obvious cleaning tasks such as removing the last inhabitant's ball of hair from the drain weren't done. The outdoor shower ended up more preferable. While I fully understand this cabin is smack in the middle of the woods, there were a sizeable amount of well-established and old cobwebs in every room and a few sightings of cockroaches in the morning in the kitchen. Outside of these problems that seem easily remedied for someone else in the future, we loved the property.

Very Nice Venue

This is a very nice location. The place was neat and well maintained. The biggest pluses are very private and secluded location, plenty of beds, modern appliances, amazing sunsets, quiet lake area, vineyards, brewers and distilleries are minutes away, restaurants minutes aways and Watkins Glen is maybe 10 minutes away. The only minuses are: 64 Steps from the house to the dock, critters and bugs, some mud if it rains hard, tight turns to get in, no central AC and no boat launch within a few miles. This place is in the woods up on a bluff. If you have mobility issues it may not be for you. When you're in the woods you can expect creepy crawlers and creepy critters...if you can't deal with that there's plenty of hotels just down the road in Watkins Glen. That said; if you want a quiet, private, romantic and beautiful venue for a few days this place is excellent. 9 out of 10 IMHO

Great waterfront retreat

Pros: 1. great spot on the lake. 2. nice large private dock (kayaks included) 3. upper deck has a tranquil, treehouse feeling 4. large, private wooded lot 5. house is large but still has a quaint cabin charm and nicely updated kitchen and bathroom. 6. dog friendly 7. good proximity to Watkins and several breweries / wineries. Cons: 1. The house can sleep 9 but only bathe 1. Wasn't a problem for me, but larger groups would have trouble. 2. The water pressure is a known issue at times. The book says to call someone or fix yourself if this happens. It's only a problem in the shower, but I didn't bother calling about it. For the extra $100 fee they charge when booking I would've thought they'd fix it before I got there. 3. Could use some lighting in the foyer. 4. No A/C. Just fans. Fine with me, but might bother some. note: if walking to nearby breweries / wineries, realize that the road the cabin is on is VERY steep. The walk will take a little longer than expected. Also, once on the main road, cars drive fast (50+mph). It's like walking on the shoulder of a small highway. We did it once and opted to drive the other days.

Great rustic cabin in a perfect location (No central Heat or AC)

Nice cabin made out of rough cut lumber makes a nice family retreat. Love the building and location that appears to have been built by the owner. Plenty of room for 8 of us with beds with linens and room to spread out. It's on a small cliff side on the lake with a beautiful deck, stairs down to the water, and a dock on the water. I can't believe some old reviews criticize the amount of stairs? It's on a cliff side, what do they want ladders? Crazy. The stairs are very sturdy with a nice hand rail all the way down.It seems the bathroom, shower and kitchen were recently renovated with a tile shower, cabinets, counters etc... some older reviews talk about the poor shower etc... it's no longer true.Be aware it has no central heat or air, IMO it should say that at the top of the description. It was in the high 40's when we arrived and cold in the cabin. After looking everywhere for a thermostat I finally realized there was not one and found space heaters in the closets and it took a bit to warm it up. It does say in one little spot in the description it's "seasonal", and when I contacted the property manager about the lack of heat that's what she said, but is not at all clear in the description, and it does not say what "seasonal" means, I didn't think it meant no heat, to me that means only rentable in certain seasons? It should clearly say no central heat or AC. Oddly the outside doors are only held shut by cheap slide bolts that don't work right. Buy dead bolts please!

Girls weekend

We had a great time in the cabin. The only “issues” we had were the bugs that got into the house but most of us were okay killing them and moving on. The stairs down to the lake were a trek but worth it. We stayed in mid September and nights were quite cold or hot. Pack for both. If you’re looking for a rustic stay this is a great spot.
