My German ancestors settled in this county in the 1800s. As a Houstonian, I longed for a country cottage near my German roots. After years of searching, I finally found it. It was a blessing! I love sharing the cottage with others so they can create new memories, experience the beauty, explore the sites, and learn about the local history. My German ancestors are buried in Brenham.
Fun fact: Abraham Lincoln is my 5th cousin 5x removed :)
MOI: Sun lover. Water baby. World traveler. Jesus worshiper. Wine taster. Dog Mom. Animal Rescue Advocate/Foster Home. Digital Marketing Consultant. My spouse owns a Real Estate Inspection Business and is also a licensed Realtor.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LOCAL, SMALL BUSINESSES! A portion of our proceeds is donated to Three Little Pitties All Breed Dog & Cat Rescue :-)

Por qué eligió esta propiedad
Chappell Hill is known for its historic architecture, rich cultural heritage, the annual Bluebonnet Festival in Spring and Scarecrow Festival in the Fall. Founded in 1847, it's located in Washington County, which is in Stephen F. Austin's original colony. He is known as the "Father of Texas" and played a significant role in the colonization of Texas by bringing the first group of American settlers to the region in 1821. He was appointed by the Mexican government as an empresario (land agent) to bring 300 families to settle in Texas.
Most of the German immigrants who settled in Washington County were primarily farmers and craftsmen. They were attracted to the area by the fertile soil and the promise of land ownership. They brought with them their language, culture, and traditions and established their own communities, churches, and schools that taught in the German language. They also introduced new crops to the area, such as grapes and peaches, which helped to diversify the local agriculture.
The birthplace of Texas is considered to be Washington-on-the-Brazos. It was here that delegates from across Texas met in 1836 to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence, officially declaring Texas as a separate republic from Mexico. This event paved the way for the Texas Revolution, a critical moment in Texas history. There are several historical sites and museums that commemorate this important event in Texas history, including the Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site and the Star of the Republic Museum.
