This location was excellent for us coming from Texas. We so enjoyed the living room windows and the newly built front porch to just watch everything on the Bay. Being on an island was great fun, and we took advantage of the local restaurants and the boat tours offered locally. All accommodations were provided as explained and the weather was so refreshing. Walking to a beach was a real plus even if we didn’t swim. Great trip.

Bailey island cottage

small but amazing views and great location with walkable to Cedar Beach...best Lobster roll ever at Iris restaurant on Rt 24 !!! renovated a couple or years ago perfect for a couple....only nit pick is for these prices we shouldn't have to make the bed!!!

OMGOSH this property was amazing, right from the minute we walked in the door we felt so much at home. It was clean and comfortable. The owners were so nice and I felt like I had known them all my life. My 80 year old mom and I made some precious memories and I can’t wait to come back to this little gem with my husband.

Ocean Breeze and Great Location

My husband and I stayed at Cedar Ledge for 10 days. We love Bailey island and this location was great for easy walks to restaurants, cedar beach and the Bailey Island General Store. Everyone was freindly and the owners who live next door said hello and gave us some beautiful flower bouquets. Shout out to the ladies at The Fish Net Cafe for such friendly service and great food! The cottage is as advertised and has a nice view and ocean breezes. We would stay again!

Lovely Bailey Island Cottage

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time at Cedar Ledge Cottage! Everyone at MaineStay Vacation is very kind and helpful. We were warmly greeted by the cottage owners who live next door. The cottage is very cute, comfortable and roomy. It is well equipped with nice furnishings. The cottage was impeccably clean. We used the king bed which is very comfortable and the mattresses and bedding all looked brand new. My husband uses a walker and the layout made it easy for home to get around. There is a ramp to one of the doors and everything is on one level. The cottage is on a hill with a large deck and a beautiful sweeping ocean view. We spent a lot of time on the deck! It is one row back from oceanfront in a charming quiet neighborhood. Can you tell we had a great time?! We highly recommend Cedar Ledge Cottage.

We enjoyed a beautiful August week on Bailey Island. The kitchen had a nice mix of cooking and serving dishes, which made it easy to cook several meals during our stay; we also enjoyed eating out at Cooks, BIGS (Bailey Island General Store), and Sundrenched on the island. (Off island, we also enjoyed dining at Pomelia and Elevenses in Brunswick.) The walk to the Cedar Beach was pleasant, and we enjoyed hiking at Giant's Stairs. This was exactly the vacation week we were looking for.Two small frustrations: The TV does not have cable or an antenna, which stymied our attempts to watch a Red Sox-Yankees game on Fox; the TV offers a variety of shows and channels through Amazon FireTV. The shower curtain was also slightly too short, which made it hard to ensure that water didn't splash out; we used an extra towel to absorb it.But the rooms were comfortable and the view was wonderful.

Cedar Ledge Cottage

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This year was our first stay in this cottage. We stayed with our married daughter, and the cottage met our needs perfectly. The owners live on site and were very attentive to any requests. The cottage is well-located with respect to local beaches and Harpswell sights, as well as Portland, Freeport, and the other mid-coast attractions.

Oceanside for a change

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've been visiting Bailey Island for several Summers, but this is the 1st time I've rented from MainStay & 1st time oceanside. I usually rent from another group, cottages on Mackerel Cove, but acted too late in reserving one. Cedar Ledge advantages were walking distance to Cedar Beach where, my grandson explored & fished daily. Also appreciated was the nice ocean breeze, just unfortunate that a power transformer/lines were in the middle of the wonderful view. The beds were very comfortable & I appreciated the layout with the large kitchen & laundry/storage room, but there really wasn't adequate table space for 4 when dining unless sitting on the deck. I am also used to having fresh drinking/cooking water provided. And for those who are adverse to such things, there were ants, earwigs & beetles indoors. Furnishings & the general condition of the cottage were on the rough side, the exterior partially painted with scaffolding & random painters tape still in place. Regardless, the cottage was comfortable & we had a great stay, just not worth twice what I usually pay.

We enjoyed the views of Casco Bay watching the fishing boats while sipping our coffee. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners who were lovely. The service from MaineStay was great! Would definitely rent there again.

Drinking water problems

After we made our non-refundable booking, the property manager let us know that drinking water quality might be a concern. They were right: the water that came out of the taps and shower smelled bad (sort of like pond water) and was unusable for drinking, cooking, etc. This might be a general issue on the island but the owner/manager should take responsibility to include this information in the listing, and/or provide bottled water for guests. On the plus side, the place was very clean, in a nice location, and had some "extras" not shown in the photos, like a new front deck for water views.
