Newly Constructed Friendly Cottage on Oceanside, Bailey Island is now available for your seaside vacation, no matter the season. This well-insulated cottage, heated and cooled by solar and geothermal systems, is appealing during the less - crowded brisk Maine springs, the lazy ocean-breezed days of summer, the colorful crisp days of fall, or the quiet peaceful days of winter.
Friendly cottage is on the east side of the island with an unhindered view of Casco Bay and spectacular sunrises, and sits on a secluded beach at the dead end of a quiet neighborhood.
Yet, the cottage is in walking distance of the general store, post office, a non-denominational church, several local eateries including the famous Cook's Lobster House as well as Mackerel Cove, the hub of the fishing and boating community. Entertaining and socializing has a comfortable flow in this 3 bedroom-2 bathroom home - perfect for family get-togethers, reunions, special events or simply a nest to enjoy the Maine experience.The nearest shopping centers are in Brunswick (13 miles away and a 30 minute drive) .Stopping at a grocery store before you come to Bailey Island might be more convenient, although there is a general store with limited supplies.

The house was better than we could have imagined and our hosts provided so much more than we’ve ever received. They had extra blankets and pillows, more than one roll of toilet paper, dish soap, and MORE! The views were breathtaking and the best part was the private beach where we were able to hunt for shells and sea glass.

The pictures are beautiful, but they can not accurately capture how beautiful it is here. The view is beyond breathtaking, and the architectural detail of the cottage is wonderful. The gardens are the perfect frame to the ocean view. From check in to out, we were fully taken care of with great communication & suggestions for dining & exploring in the area. The kitchen is fully equipped & every room is spacious & inviting. From beautiful sunrises to relaxing to ocean waves, everything about our stay was wonderful. Thank you so much to our lovely hosts. We will be back very soon!

Perfect place

Friendly Cottage is the dream spot, right on the Maine Coast and close to many attractions and restaurants. It is beautiful, complete with everything one needs for the best vacation.

We had 3 generations staying in the Friendly Cottage and all of us loved it. The grandkids loved climbing down the rocks to the little beach in front of the cottage and walking to nearby Cedar Beach to swim. My husband, son, and grandson really enjoyed playing golf at Highland Green Golf Club in Topsham. My daughter-in-law and I were happy just sitting in the red chairs in front of the cottage watching lobstermen pull up their traps and reading our books. We all enjoyed sailing on the Schooner Alert and eating great meals at Cooks Lobster House on the island, The Dolphin in Harpswell, and The Great Impasta in Brunswick. But our best meal was the one in the cottage when my husband cooked lobsters for us! Much less expensive than getting lobster dinners in any of the restaurants. Everything we needed for our private lobster bake was right there in the cottage. A special highlight for my son was taking his family on a tour of Bowdoin College, his alma mater. It was a great family vacation and one we will always treasure.

Beautiful island

The house was beautiful and comfortable. The view was incredible. Good restaurants and the Bailey Island General Store has fresh lobster. Clos to Freeport for shopping. The island has some nice trails for hiking.

Our second stay at Laurie's and Eric's amazing property. The home is beautiful, comfortable and perfectly situated on Maine's rocky coastline. The amenities in the home are exactly what a family needs for a vacation stay and Bailey Island is as quaint and picturesque as any place in Maine could possibly be.

What a most lovely property! The house was in a perfect location with all amenities. The view is spectacular and we loved the red Adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean. Would recommend!

An amazingly wonderful place to stay - clean, comfortable, quiet. Neat location. Spent a lot of time out on the point - just watching the waves and relaxing. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Everything you could want is included. Highly recommended!

Wish we could have stayed longer!

We loved our stay! The cottage was clean and cozy, the views were amazing, and the owners couldn’t have been nicer. It was a hit with the entire family! I’m not sure which we enjoyed more…the beach behind the house (my kids favorite) or walking to the general store for a yummy breakfast and lunch (my parents favorite). Hope to stay again!

Maine trip

Really enjoyed the trip. The location was great and the sun rises in the morning were amazing. The hosts were very accommodating. My only thoughts about this day is that I think the pictures or a little misleading in the view of the ocean from the rental.

Family Gathering

Celebrated our 30th anniversary with our kids on Bailey Island. Enjoyed a sail on Schooner Alert along with great views, absolutely beautiful home, yummy lobster and great fireworks over the Atlantic. Highly recommend.

It was a fabulous family time at Bailey’s Island VRBO! You couldn’t ask for a better view. We cooked, walked, and went shopping at L.L. Bean and Freeport. Everything you needed to make a perfect vacation is provided. They were a gracious host.

Breathtaking

We absolutely loved our stay at the Friendly Cottage! It's a beautiful, peaceful area and one we will be telling others about. Lots of wonderful local restaurants and a little gift shop at the end of the island. A wonderful secluded beach is just down the road. The main bedroom upstairs has a super cozy bed and amazing sunrises to start your day. Thank you for sharing your place with us. We hope to visit again!

Perfect Vacation

This cottage lives up to and exceeds the expectations set by the stunning photos. It is beautiful, well appointed, super clean, and comfortable. No detail was left undone; there was even a pair a reading glasses on the shelf just in case a guest forgot theirs. Nothing disappoints! We will certainly plan to return very soon for a longer stay.

Beautiful home; VERY clean!!

We had a great week at the Friendly Cottage. The home is VERY clean. With having our 1 year old son with us, this was very important to us. Everything was clean and spotless. Comfortable beds; all the amenities you need. They did an unbelievable job designing this home and the property. The view from the house and the red ADK chairs is amazing! We can't wait to travel back!!

Sea-side Enchantment

Eric and Laurie were wonderful, thoughtful and friendly hosts, while fully respecting our privacy.The cottage was beautifully furnished reflecting their deep Maine roots and love for Bailey Island. It was well equipped, and super clean. Every detail seems to have been thought of. The setting--enjoyable both from the cottage and the Adirondack chairs--was beautiful... and breath-taking every minute of the day and awe inspiring at sunrise and sunset. We very enthusiastically recommend Friendly Cottage.

Great Spot to Enjoy Coastal Maine!

We stopped at the Friendly Cottage for just a short couple days. Sadly, the weather was not in our favor but it didn’t stop us from an enjoyable time! The cottage is located on a quiet street with amazing views. Our kids enjoyed going down to the water and looking in the tide pools. We had a great breakfast at the general store (with pancakes bigger than our plates!), checked out the Giant Stairs, went down tot he Lands End gift shop and got some ice cream at the local candy store. A very quaint place to get away from it all!
