Air conditioner works very well! Needs a really good update. If you plan to only use the house as a bed, it’s the place for you. If more, it’s doable. Outside and inside of home need some TLC. Couldn’t ask for a better view.

Catbird has the best location for a quiet and convenient beach vacation! Just 20 min to the amazing St George Island State Park and a 3 min walk to the beach from the house. Perfect views from the main floor balcony!

We enjoyed our stay

Here's our only criticism: insufficient supplies (toilet paper, tissue, no filters for coffee maker) and the A/C system was loud enough to wake the dead.

Nice house, great location

We loved our stay here. The house was perfect for my family. My only suggestion would be to provide soap of some kind in the kitchen area and provide extra towels.

Nice location , needs a few updates and general maintenance to the property but it’s a cute place in a great location ! All the beds were not very comfortable, may be time to replace some mattresses ! The house had all the appliances and dishes you needed! Well stocked !

Location was everything

We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect with quick walking access to the beach and stores with a beautiful view of the ocean. The property has been neglected and would benefit with some cosmetic improvement, but is reflected in the price compared to others. Check in wasn’t friendly, as if we were not welcome, but they did allow us to stay an extra night. We would stay again.

Great location-Needs updating!

Great location and view of the water. House is very dated and needs new deck furniture. Only has 2 low sitting chairs so you cannot see the ocean. However, the bed was very comfortable and we had a great time.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay at Catbird Seat. One thing I did not realize is that the bottom bedroom is completely separate from the rest of the house. It has its own entrance on the ground floor and this is where the washer and dryer is located as well. Check in was a breeze and we were able to check in at 2 instead of 4. The views were nice and the AC kept the house freezing. I had to turn it up from the normal temp that I keep my house at because I was always so cold!

Nice vacation!

A lovely cozy house with a beautiful view of the bay. Clean towels and bed linens were provided. I ran a bit short on funds for laundry and showering; there was also a shortage of toilet paper and paper towels. Additionally, there was inadequate outdoor lighting on the first floor and external power outlets. Apart from that, everything was good.

Catbird Seat Stay

Great location. Comfortable home that felt like a time capsule back to 1977. No updated anything which was fine by me. The bedroom setup was nice for separation although the light switches upstairs weren’t working which was an inconvenience. The management were helpful when needed which was nice.

Comfortable stay with a view

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Perfect location with a great view. Overall very happy with Catbird seat. Home is slightly dated, and could use some deep cleaning and a new coffee pot. One pot of coffee takes about 1.5 hours to brew, I recommend bringing your own. But the house has everything else you need. TVs in the bedrooms do not work but who’s watching tv at the beach anyways. Perfect walking distance to anything you want and a room the street from the beach is the best plus ever!

Loved the State Park and Paddy's Raw Bar

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The island of St George is waaaaay laid back - actually not a lot to do. The house was 'meh' for the price, and needed a lot of maintenance (actually could use a full reno). It's a pretty old place. The second bedroom is a loft with no door so you hear all the kitchen noises in the am. The beach is gorgeous - especially down at the state park, which is a fabulous state park. We will come back, but it will be in our RV!

Convenient and good views

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was an older but fairly nice property. The location was great and you still had a nice view from the deck. The downstairs bedroom was very small but functional. The window AC units worked well. We did find 2 4" dead cockroaches and one small live one. So maybe they should spray more frequently. Not sure why we needed to check in in person in a one hour window as they just gave us a code to the door and not a physical key. Other rentals on SGI have us sign digitally and do all the communication electronically. But the property management people were very friendly.

The ocean was visible from the room/deck. The place is very conveniently located to the beach with literally just walking across the street and you're on to the sand. It's probably a 10-minute walk from things like the lighthouse and the restaurants and stores in the middle of the island which is not bad at all. The place was very clean. But like many reviews, State the place is also a little outdated and needs some TLC to get it up to an excellent stay. Bed in the upper bedroom shook with little effort. With all the lights off, arriving at night was not very friendly. But we figured it out. The lower bedroom is detached from all of the rest of the house. Which is good if you have a couple or an individual staying who you can trust to be separated from the group. But if you're trying to put young kids in both the second and third bedrooms, this is not ideal. The water was very smelly at first because it has been sitting in a tank. Not doing much for a long time. There is a lot of moisture in the air on St. George Island and the bedrooms could stand a solid carpet cleaning and refreshing. And the east side of the building needs a gutter because there's so much moisture nightly that it begins dripping off the house in the evening and all night long onto the stairs that you have to take to get to the laundry which is in the detached bedroom. Despite a few issues it was a very complete house that was convenient and we did enjoy our stay.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view on the deck and location was great! Home was clean but in dire need of an update. The shower door on the main level is too small for the space. You had to squeeze yourself to get in and out. And the vent was right over the bed on the main level and would blow air on your face while you were sleeping. Even if you shut the vent, it would whistle all night and you could not sleep. Beds were lumpy too. If this house was renovated, it would get 5 stars. But it was clean and the location and view was great!

Only (1) bedroom has a door. The other is upstairs but decent room but no door. Linens/bedding were basic accommodations so not extremely comfortable. My only negative feedback. Otherwise unit was in very clean condition, location great, and views (no house across street to block it) was exceptional. For the $ it was well worth the stay. Just be aware of room situation.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've been vacationing at SGI for decades. Anyone considering this property for their vacation should be aware of the following: The photos did not represent this property in the size of the rooms, amenities and functionality, not enough seating inside for our party of six, roaches and ants found in bathrooms, outside shower was overgrown with weeds, floors were sagging when you walked on them, furniture was so dirty we used the quilts we brought from home to cover them so we could sit on them. When complaints were made to management, additional plastic Adirondack chairs were brought to us and a partial refund was provided.The view was spectacular and we did enjoy the deck which was newer and very nice. We understand that this is an older property but I would suggest newer pictures to truly represent the size of the rooms and status of the home.

There were four of us, experienced travelers with normal expectations. When we travel we are shown the desire to make sure we are comfortable and satisfied with our accommodations. First impressions matter.The grounds did not show any sign of upkeep. The first "bedroom" we entered appeared to be an afterthought. We walked in off the carport into the laundry room. The bedroom was on the other side. There was a queen bed, no nightstand or lamp next to the bed. An armoir that was also used for cleaning supply storage, no dresser. There was a tv, a remote with no batteries. The floor was dirty. The bathroom had a sink that would not drain, it was unusable. There was a hole in the ceiling above the sink that had some tissue paper stuffed in it to disguise the hole. We had to climb up and unscrew the light bulbs in the ceiling fan, there was no chain or separate switch overhead. The guest in this room left early.The main level was acceptable, the air-conditioning was excellent. The bathroom on this level, the shower doors and the water pressure from the shower were bad. Thankfully I did not need to wash my hair. The carpet was stained. The upstairs bed room was acceptable until the ceiling fan quit working making it too hot during the day. The kitchen cabinets were sticky giving the impression it was dirty. No ice maker or ice in ice trays. TP and paper towels provided were cheap.. We did not feel our enjoyment was a priority. An update is needed. there's more I've run out

The view was stunning and exactly as described. The location was great. The living room Furniture and beds were comfortable although not adequate for 6 Guests. The kitchen was well equipped although the stove and refrigerator are both in rough shape. There are very few positives. The ground floor bedroom is seperate from the rest of the house. Guests have go outside and up a flight of exterior stairs to access the rest of the house from there. Not really a 3 bedroom house at all! The 3rd floor bedroom has no door and you can see from the kitchen into the bedroom. there are no closets and except for musty antique armoires there is no place to hang your clothes. The bathrooms are all tiny ans very outdated. There is no place to put your toiletries. The shower on the main floor has such a small opening it is almost not usable for adults. There are no extra towels or blankets so be sure to bring your own. Check in was inconvenient at a different location. The host made no effort to make the house a place we would want to return to. I would definitely not recommend it or return there.
