Welcome to The Lazy Bear! Listen to the sounds of the creek as you relax on the front porch of this 1964 cabin. Dog friendly fenced in front yard. Off the beaten path, 7 miles to town of Franklin which offers hiking, fishing, horseback riding, gem mining and more! Just bring your personal items, clothes and food! There are 2 of everything to start you out as far as paper towels, toilet paper, washer and dishwasher detergent pods and trash bags. Pets must be added to reservation~$50 fee for entire stay.
We are happy to announce a 10% discount for military, first responders and teachers!
Do not let Google Maps take you through Cashiers, come through Franklin.

I can't say enough about this property. The owner is so wonderful, sweet and accommodating. It's super clean and our dogs loved the yard. We hiked everyday and came home, showered, cooked great meals and enjoyed wine on the porch. Oh, and the weather was perfect!!!

I read people complain about the road being so close to the house, but it honestly wasn't a problem for us. We still felt like we had a lot of privacy & every who drove by was super friendly & waved (you can see them from the porch but not so much from the hot tub).Getting to the cabin was easy the road turns to dirt for the last half mile but its easily accessible. The cabin itself its private and accommodating. It was nice to be able to sit under a covered porch and watch the storm roll in. We only lost power for about 6 seconds before it was right back on.The beds are extremely comfortable for anyone wondering. The highlights of our trip were seeing Elk in Cherokee, seeing High Falls (The hike is horrific so be warned but totally worth it) and seeing the stars at night.

Christmas getaway

Great cabin! Loved the decor and how comfortable the furniture was. Dogs loved being able to run around in the fenced yard.

Secluded little cabin on a dirt road with a hot tub, the sound of a lovely stream nearby and amenities for my furbaby. Who could ask for more? The host was great and had everything thing we needed plus a few extras!! Great stay. Would highly recommend.

Not enough words to describe how awesome Shelley is and how quaint and cozy the cabin is definitely recommend and we will certainly be back to visit again... She has every detail taken care of and it's also located very convenient to everything with just a short beautiful drive up the mountain!! 10 out of 10!!!!!!

Awesome little cabin

We loved this little cozy cabin and our dogs loved the fenced in yard. We had everything we needed. The owners are super nice and are quick with answering any questions you have.

Cozy Stay

We had an amazing time staying at Shelley’s place. She was so helpful as well, very prompt when we needed it. The cabin is oh so cozy. My dog loved it as well. We will be back! Thank you, Shelley.

Quiet and lovely!

We absolutely loved this charming little cabin up in the mountains. It was so quiet and peaceful and had everything we needed. It was very clean and the perfect size for the 3 of us! The host was wonderful and communicated clearly. We would definitely return to this cabin again!

Nice stay

Host was very accommodating and gracious throughout our stay. The cabin was clean, well-stocked with sheets, towels, dishes, pillows, blankets, land-line, and more, and very comfortable. Sturdy dog run great for our two dogs. Definitely a repeat!

Amazing vacation!

My husband and I had the absolute best week staying there! The house was very clean and welcoming and the fenced in yard was heaven for our dog. We loved sitting on the porch and soaking in the sounds of the creek and the mountains. It was so peaceful!! The hot tub was a wonderful bonus, which we appreciated so much. The host was very helpful and easy to work with. This place is amazing and I would highly recommend staying there. Thank you for the wonderful week!!!

Nice place but right on the road

The cabin was nice and well maintained but it’s not as private as desired. The hot tub is literally next to the road and there were a lot more cars than one would expect from a pace so far out.

This cabin is cozy, but larger than I suspected from pics and just fine for 4 adults. Decor is very intentional (not kitschy) and the space is used very efficiently! Plenty of storage opportunities, kitchen is easy to cook in, there were fresh ice cubes in the freezer and the hot tub was warmed up when we arrived all that to say, the host put a lot of thought and effort into their space and our stay. Excellent communication and a lovely space. The description says remote and it is, but as someone who lived in Franklin/Highlands- it is not that crazy. the road is paved most of the way, it's not extremely steep, and you feel secluded but not stranded. Grocery shop before arriving and you'll be fine

ADORABLE CABIN / WONDERFUL HOST

Lazy Bear was the perfect place for my husband and I to rest & relax for a couple days. The cabin was clean, with all the extras you would need for your stay. And the artwork and decor is awesome. Shelley sent all the information needed for check in 2 days before the trip & even let us know we could check in before 3, since the cabin was ready. Make sure to take a drive up the mountain! The views are amazing! We just followed the main road. The hot tub and creek are a plus. We left one day to sitesee, but couldn't wait to return and enjoy the peace at the cabin.

As advertised

A quiet little cabin tucked away in the mountains just as advertised. The stream running nearby was nice a peaceful sounding. There was no window unit AC like in the picture (could be because it's so early in the season) but we worked around it with opening windows and using the ceiling fans. Shelley was an awesome host, very quick responses to any and all questions and concerns. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The cabin was a cozy 2 bedroom prefect for a couple or small family. Felt more like a small niche community only 3 houses in the cluster and a great yard for a dog. We have a pug and he really loved it. Nicely situated between franklin and Sylvaand we did alot of rock hunting

What a peaceful and lovely cabin. The running water sound makes this the perfect place to relax. The host was very accommodating and responsive to all questions. The place is so homey and made me never want to leave. I would definitely recommend.

All was clean & as stated in the listing. Nice hot tub & was ready for us. Quiet area & good wi-fi. Had everything we needed. Clear instructions, no issues. Enjoyed our relaxing time.

Our family had a wonderful stay at The Lazy Bear. The fenced in yard and doggie door were greatly appreciated as our doggies needed no time to adjust. Shelley is a very responsive host and communications were a breeze. We will definitely stay again.

Peaceful secluded Cabin. Beautiful area of NC with amazing views.

We had an awesome time in this peaceful secluded cabin. The cabin was very cozy, and in a beautiful area of the NC mountains. Relaxing hot tub which we thoroughly enjoyed. A great fenced in yard for my dogs, they loved it! The owners were the best, and only a phone call away when we needed them. Do yourself a favor and drive all the way up the mountain to see some of the most amazing views you can find.
