Ala Aina Ocean Vista is a unique, 100% solar-powered private ohana with front and back private entrances situated on a former banana plantation. Nestled in an exotic lush tropical setting, our accommodation promises peace and quiet and offers guests sweeping ocean vistas. Enjoy watching the ocean from your king-sized bed surrounded by windows overlooking tropical trees, Hawaiian flowers and rolling green lawns.

Our dwelling offers a fully-equipped outdoor efficiency kitchen on the large private deck. You can cook under the stars! There is an inside private bathroom with marble floors and tiled shower (roomy enough for two), as well as an outside bathtub and shower with lotus pond in your own little garden. Classic board games, Direct TV for those that want television.

We are just 2 miles from, 7 Sacred Pools, aka The Pools at Ohe'o or also called 'Ohe'o Gulch'. Additionally we are 10 miles (30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic) to the town of Hana, where the famous Hasegawa's General Store and the Hana Maui Resort are located.

We are only 30-40 minutes to Maui's black and red sand beaches. Waioka pond, known as 'Venus pools', are a short 20 minutes away and Alele Waterfall is just 2 minutes away.

The best part is we offer each and every guest a romantic and quiet accommodation experience.

Magical setting

A little work to get there but the setting and activities on this side of the island are fabulous and worth several days. Eating option are limited so need to pack in some groceries. Beautiful, relaxing setting!

Sweet Retreat

Wake up to amazing views

A beautiful property and welcoming host! We enjoyed waking up to a 180 degree of the ocean and beautiful surroundings. It was so peaceful and exactly what we were hoping for in a more relaxed vacation. We did not use the outdoor kitchen so cannot speak to preparing food at the unit attached to the host's house, but wanted to recommend planning ahead for meals given the more remote location (whether you're making yourself with the available camping stove or making a run into town). Tasty food trucks and restaurants in Hana (about a 30 minute drive) and very close to Haleakala National Park. Thank you Mercury and Sam for the delightful stay!

Beautiful and serene home and property!!

We absolutely loved staying here at Mercury and Samadhi’s peaceful sanctuary. My husband and I stayed here in 2019, and fell in love with it then. It’s a wonderful place to relax and unwind from the craziness of life! Stunning sunrises and sunsets from their property! We highly recommend this VRBO!!

Incredible energy...peaceful and off the beaten path. Beautiful well maintained home and property with complete privacy. Constant ocean breeze and a beautiful view of the ocean both to the south and east! Host was very responsive and helpful. We will keep this location on our "do again" list!

Magical & relaxing!

The property is even more beautiful than the pictures. Waking up to the magnificent view from bed each morning, and enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch was a perfect way to start each day of vacation. Sam & Mercury were wonderful hosts.

Oasis perfection

What a peaceful and perfect location. We stayed for two nights, which we felt was the perfect amount of time for us. The views of the ocean, sunrise, sunset, and rainbows galore really make this a special place.

Camping Elevated

Property is as advertised. Outdoor kitchen was well stocked for a a “camp” kitchen. Property is lovely. Remote and Quiet. Owners very nice and helpful. Bring everything you need with you. The town is not that far in mileage, but it’s slow because of the winding road and the selection is minimal.

Pure paradise, and relaxation!

This place is an amazing place to stay ! The host was great. She wanted to greet us, even though we arrived late in the evening there was fresh fruit growing on the property we were allowed to eat and enjoy the space was clean and relaxing. I would recommend this to any couple trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts staying here was definitely paradise ! and I look forward to booking this location again!

Beautiful Oasis!

This property and owner is amazing! We loved every minute of our stay just wished we had planned on staying longer! If Mercury recommends you see something put it on the must list! We saw a beautiful waterfall and enjoyed the best beach thanks to her!

Slice of heaven on earth

I was in Maui for 2 weeks and I spent my last 2 nights here. It was the perfect ending to a perfect vacation. The hosts were amazing, the living space was beautiful and the land is absolutely gorgeous and very peaceful. I would definitely go back ❣️❣️

Relaxation in Hana!

My husband and I loved our stay at Sam and Mercury’s place! We were able to fully relax here and close out our honeymoon after a week on bustling Oahu. Sam and Mercury were excellent hosts and provided everything we needed. The patio and outdoor kitchen were very well kept and fun to use! We even got to meet their neighbors rescue horses and feed them mangos which was a magical surprise. We will most definitely be back, thank you Sam and Mercury for everything :)

Get away from it ALL.

This is not the Ritz-Carlton, or even the Marriott. It's better. It's glamping of the highest order. If you're trying to get away from it all and clear your mind of the garbage, you couldn't ask for a better place.

Beautiful tranquility - amazing honeymoon stay!

This was a great stay for our first time on the island and right after our wedding. A great way to unwind. The garden and yard is beautiful and we had a great time walking in the serenity garden and taking small strolls in the yard. Beautiful place for R&R. Kitchen was great to have on the deck and enjoy a peaceful morning. Mercury is a great host and checked in to make sure we had everything, we are sorry we missed her on the way out but she is very kind and polite. Both my wife and I loved this space! We hope to be back one day again! Highly recommend!

Reality surpassed our dreams.

Mercury and Sam were the perfect hosts. We could not have imagined a better trip. They made everything so comfortable and welcoming. We had some necessities provided for us (shampoo, eggs, coffee, etc) which was truly amazing to have available since we arrived late on New Year’s Eve and weren’t planning on a supply run until January 2nd (when most stores would be open). All information about our stay was provided to us through the VRBO app before we arrived and in communications within the property. There were many books, games, a television with all the good stations, and fast internet if we ever got bored of looking at the view (ha). We ate avocados, tangerines, and bananas from the property’s trees (after asking if it was ok). There were several animals and birds on and around the property we enjoyed watching. The landscaping Mercury and Sam have on the property is absolutely beautiful! I discovered at least one new plant every day. We witnessed the sunrise every day on one side of the property and the sunset on the other side.They let us know that ensuring we had all the privacy we needed was the top priority. We opted to ask questions about the area and they were more than happy to give us tips, recommendations, and even a few stories about Hāna and Kipahulu. Thank you Mercury and Sam! We are trying to decide on dates to come back

Actual Living Paradise

Before we arrived, my partner and I had a bet going about this place: he thought the photos must have been AI generated because the place looked too beautiful. Well I won, because this is the most beautiful place we have ever been, and every aspect of our stay was beyond our expectations. The room itself has two walls of windows with a built in XXXL comfy bed. The bathroom is spacious and decked out for royalty. The outdoor kitchen was surprisingly well stocked with this and that to enhance whatever you are cooking. The grounds are spectacular with ocean views, horses, sunrise and sunset, starry nights, fruit trees, water feature, outdoor bathtub and shower, flowers and art everywhere. Mercury was a perfect host. She was so warm and welcoming and made sure everything was just right. There were beautiful botanical arrangements all over the room to make everything feel even more special. The journey there is amazing, driving from the "Road to Hana" or the back side of Hana Highway; I definitely recommend driving the full loop. There is a lot to do around here if you like walking in nature and ocean swimming. Which you must, if you are coming to Maui!

Heavenly!!

An absolutely magnificent experience. Previous reviews in addition to owner information told us exactly what to expect, and it delivered even more. What this is: exquisite location, adequate sleeping accommodations (bed is much more comfortable than pictures show), well manicured grounds, no A/C was absolutely no problem for someone who hates sleeping hot. It rained each night and if anything we were a bit cold. Stunning property with ocean views and if wind is calm—can hear the surf breaking on the beach. Beautiful deck and very quaint kitchen with all needed utensils. Very friendly hosts but not at all intrusive. We got fruit, chips, some extra drinks and pre-cut stir fry veggies and had a wonderful dinner on the deck. Eggs, butter, juice, bagels provided. We bought bacon and cooked that each morning. Ate lunch in Hana at one of many food truck or stand locations. If you want to get away from people and connect with the beauty of the island—this is the place for you. Don’t expect hotel accommodations—it’s more like an old bed and breakfast in a remote and truly special location. Thanks Merc and Sam!!

Cute but uncomfortable to sleep in

We showed up at this beautiful property and found the instructions awkward. There is a small house straight in front that the owner lives in. To the right is a house the daughter lives in, and the studio apartment vrbo is attached to that home (in the front part). Our vehicle got stuck in the grass which hasn't been cut for awhile, definitely not the manuicured lawn seen in the photos, but rather overgrown gardens and yard. The walkway is right next to the daughter's home. She's very pleasant, but there is a shared wall, and even a doorway between the two living quarters, so to me it doesn't seem like a private getaway for newlyweds. She told us to read the rules, which seemed odd, maybe calling it a guide to where things were would have seemed more friendly. The lanai kitchen is stocked well, and there were fresh eggs and other items in the fridge, but we didn't know if they belonged to the daughter or if they were meant for us. The shower is amazing. At first it was odd since there's no curtain, but the owners were no where insight, so we felt safe to shower. The bed was the worst part because of my husband's hip problem. Its like an old waterbed frame with a two piece futon mattress inside..really huge, but the pads were placed so that you'd have the crack between pads at an uncomfortable spot no matter where you lay. And the wooden frame was painfull getting in out out of the bed. If you don't mind the bed or owner right there, its nice.

The pictures do not do this location justice! This is truly the perfect place to relax and unwind. We stayed here for our wedding and honeymoon and could not have been happier. The hosts are incredible and you will not be disappointed. If we come back to Maui, we will stay here again!

Originally from Michigan, I have been blessed to be a Hana, Maui resident since 1982. I run our B&B with my daughter. Together we have created this special place for our guests to enjoy and we keep busy making sure our 4-acre parcel is beautiful and manicured.

We were fortunate to have found this lush and peaceful spot on the Island of Maui. After my husband passed, my daughter and I needed a way to make a living, so we took advantage of having a space to renovate into a Bed and Breakfast, as this allowed Mercury (my daughter) and myself to stay at home, run a business and have a connection with wonderful folks from all over the world. This has worked out better than we could even imagined!

We are 100% green (completely solar powered) and offer our guests the chance to enjoy the lifestyle and and views that one would expect of a tropical paradise. Although we are always happy to answer questions and can offer plenty of advice on any Hana activities or sightseeing spots, we ultimately respect the privacy of our guests and believe in making sure you have a peaceful and romantic stay while you are here. We are around when you need us… and respectful when you want to be alone.

We have the luxury of privacy, peace and quiet in our setting. Mercury and I enjoy staying on our blessed piece of paradise and working in nature to make things beautiful. We enjoy donating to the homeless with our abundant fruit from our trees. We get most of our social connections with the wonderful folks that visit our B&B. We enjoy being totally 'green' and helping provide true eco-friendly accommodations but with the creature-comforts one would expect of a wonderful place to vacation.
