Only reason for 4 stars was due to some of the steep roads to get to the house. Bedrooms were very bright during the night with the street lights and during the morning. We loved the house and it was so charming!

Beautiful Historic Home

What an awewome old house. We stayed with the kids while visiting the river museum. Plenty of room in this big cozy house. Would recommend!

Highland Place

This is the second time we have stayed there. At Christmas we appreciated the beauty of the house. This time we appreciated the wide porches, beautiful view and wonderful gardens. We have a large family and there always seems to be enough room for everyone.

Family Christmas

Sapcious and clean. We sat around the dinning room table a lot, playing games and sharing memories! The hot tub was a great bonus! Glad the weather was nice, forgot how hilly Dubuque is! Thank you so much!

Fantastic Property at a Reasonable Cost

My friends and I stayed at this property for two nights to enjoy March Madness at the Q Casino and to do a little exploring in downtown Dubuque. The location is fantastic, just a mile or two from most everything we wanted to do in Dbq. The property was very clean and well maintained. The amenities were great. A cup of coffee in the hot tub each morning was just what the doctor ordered after being out late the night before. The owners were very accommodating and responsive. Overall a great stay and a place we plan to book again next year.

Christmas in Dubuque

Wow, this place was the best! We stayed at the Highland House for 4 nights the week after Christmas while visiting family in the area. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and the perfect size for our extended family with 4 bedrooms and a pullout sleeper sofa in one of the parlors. But most importantly, the owners went above and beyond equipping the house with everything we needed during our stay AND to top it all off, it was decorated for Christmas! I can’t think of a single bad thing to say, just perfect. We loved it! Will definitely be booking again in the future.

Highland Place

Very fun historic house! We could get my 93 year old Mom's wheelchair inside. There was plenty of room for brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins to get together and visit.

Gorgeous home with a wonderful view

Such a gorgeous historical home with a wonderful view of sunrise and the city! My husband, son, friend and I stayed in this beautiful house during the Mines of Spain 100. The 3 others were running the 100 mile race. The home was a short 10 min from the race start/finish. Ideal location for me to head back for an occasional nap while I helped crew the race. Excellent location and excellent accommodation. Loved it!! Thanks for sharing!

Our best stay!

We all say that this has been the best house yet! Plenty of room, gorgeously decorated house. We had everything we needed. Host was fantastic. We also loved the area and Dubuque. So quaint! This is a ten star house, highly recommended!

WEST 11TH STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT

This 1886 house on top of bluff is super cool. The double parlor is major highlight. I'd love to know more about the history of this house. If walking to the millwork district, use the stairway near 11th street as it's equally interesting with great views. If driving, I'd avoid Dell Street because it's so steep. Two nights was not enough time for us to explore Dubuque. I'd like to return to Dubuque and this cool property in the future.

Enjoyed Our Stay

We enjoyed our stay at this well-kept clean attractive historic house with ample modern conveniences. There was plenty of room for the seven guests, including four bedrooms, chatting on the side porch, some watching the Olympics on TV and a great ample dining room table. We would easily recommend this house to others as well as the owners/hosts who were prompt in communication.

Wonderful House on a Hill

The house is very clean and well decorated. It has many large bedrooms and plenty of space for a group of people. The kitchen is well appointed with two ovens and coffee makers. We had everything we needed to do a little baking and cooking. The dining table is great for games and eating and the living room is nice for TV time. We loved that it has central AC in the hot weather. It is also walkable to the farmer's market, library, stores, restaurants, winery, bars, and the Fenelon elevator! The hot tub is very nice at night, even in the heat and they put towels by the door. The porches are lovely to sit and chat or read. The electronic entry is great for a big group that doesn't want to always be together. We received a thorough email about everything we would possibly need to know before we got there. They thought of everything!

Perfect for our large family!

We had a wonder stay at the Highland House! Beautifully mantained and so much space for our family of six. Large bedrooms and gathering areas inside and out. Plus, a hot tub! Very clean and had all the essentials. Would recommend!

Beautiful House

This was my families first time in Dubuque and this house was beautiful! It was very clean and spacious. We loved the covered patio. It was great to sit in there and be able to watch the kids play, at the same time. The only thing that caught us by surprise was that people could park along the road, right by the house. At one time, a car pulled up right next to the house, the kids were playing in the grass, and it just made us wonder what was going on. But then we realized that a lot of people park along that road and it’s nothing to worry about. Other than that, we loved the hot tub and even used the bbq and had a fun family bbq. The beds were very comfortable and spacious. If you looked closely, you can see the Mississippi River from the house.

Group get together in Dubuque

This house was a great homebase for our group. Good location, comfortable stay, nice communal spaces, small playground nearby for toddlers, a beautiful front porch, and nice screened in patio as well. Hot tub a nice added benefit. Would stay there again!

Quick get together

We had a fantastic time in Dubuque. The home was fantastic and charming. The host was easily available and my guests and I had a relaxing weekend. Lots of extra rooms in the home and really great windows and views. Mid spring was a great choice to visit.

Lovely property in great location!

This is a beautiful historic home with modern conveniences in a classic setting. All rooms, including 4 bedrooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Though house is on a hill, access from driveway requires no steps. In addition to the 4 upstairs bedrooms, there is a sleeper sofa in one of the 3 sitting areas downstairs in case anyone does not want to try either of the two sets of stairs. Better weather would have found this small group of senior friends enjoying the views from one of the 3 porches--Maybe next time! Thick towels were abundant, as were throws to wrap up in. Location was close to just about everything in the downtown area. Tom the host was easy to reach and very responsive. We all enjoyed our stay and recommend this property without hesitation.

Highland house

Rented highland house for a girls weekend. Beautiful property and plenty of room! Very clean and hosts provided more than basic necessities. Fabulous location with an awesome view. Great communication with the host.

Great house, great neighborhood!

We were in town for a funeral and found this house on vrbo. It worked out perfectly with plenty of space and the location was beautiful and convenient. Beds were comfortable and quiet. We will stay there again!

Charming house

We very much enjoyed our stay. We had 2 families including children and felt that the accommodations met our needs. Loved the location, the character, and the added little touches that were provided. Would definitely consider staying here again.
