Make some great vacation memories when you stay in this historic brick hotel. Built in 1889, it offers all of the classic charm of old Canal Park with its comforts of a high quality, modern interior. You can’t beat this location, just moments away from the Great Lakes Aquarium, Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, Maritime Museum, Bayfront Festival Park and Playground, North Shore Scenic Railroad, Amsoil Arena, Duluth 10 and IMAX Theaters, plus numerous boutiques, offering unique gifts and window shopping. There is also a smorgasbord of dining options, from corner cafes with live music to fine Italian dining. This is a great location to attend or participate in events like Grandma's Marathon, North Shore Inline Marathon or Bayfront Blues Festival.

From your Captain’s Suite master bedroom you will have a view of the William A. Irving Ore Boat, a historic fixture in Canal Park. The William A. Irving is available for tours, including a special haunted ship tour in late October. You can also charter a boat for some fishing on Lake Superior with Duluth Charters, launching from the harbor just a short stroll away. Experience an awesome sight as you watch a large ship come into the harbor through the world renowned Aerial Lift Bridge. On the days you don’t feel like heading out, navigate your crew down to the indoor pool, hot tub, wading pool, and fitness center.

Great location and view of downtown. Near fun shopping in Canal park and the Amsoil Arena. Highly recommend the boardwalk and north shore drive to see Lake Superior, watching freighter ships travel under the Lift Bridge and going to OMC Smokehouse and Sir Benedicts restaurants. The condo was the perfect fall getaway for my wife and I to spend 3 days exploring Duluth.

The only problem we had was that the provided elevator code didn’t include the “*” that was needed to get the elevator to work. Other than that the home was very nice, very clean and spacious. Our stay was a splurge while in town for a family wedding, so in this case worth it, but normally would not be worth the price point for us.

Location and View - A

Pros: Location is perfect for exploring Duluth, possibly the best you can find. The furniture, beds, bedding is all very comfortable. Views from the windows are of the William Irvin Ship and city - none of harbor or ships coming in. Our kids loved the window seats. Parking is easy. Walkable location.Cons: Neighbors were loud. Windows need curtains on top of the blinds - hard for kids to sleep (my kids aren’t use to black out shades and it was tough with summer daylight). Pool was very cold. While the unit was very clean, upon arrival the dishwasher hadn’t been unloaded and the soaps were half empty which was strange. Elevator code instructions are incorrect in the welcome email — the code needs an asterisk after in order to operate elevator.

The condo is beautiful and in a gorgeous location, super close access to everything we needed. We were very comfortable! The only reason I did not give a full 5-star review was because one of the bathrooms had not been fully cleaned. I also was not impressed at all by the towels that were available for use. Overall, though, we had a lovely stay.

Wonderful Stay

This was a perfect spot for my family and I to have a little weekend getaway. It was very clean and had all the amenities that we needed. We appreciated the full kitchen as we cooked all of our meals during out stay. Access to Canal Park and the aquarium was a huge plus. The kids loved the pool and huge ship right out their window. Next time we stay in Duluth we will definitely stay again.

Location, Location, Location!

Location is spot on for this property!! Right in the heart of it all! After booking and getting easy instructions on parking and entry, we were able to unload and enjoy and not drive at all!! Condo is spectacular! So clean and everything you need. Beds were comfy and amazing architecture! We were there for an event at the DECC and could quickly walk there, then back to the condo before heading out to several dinner spots. Also, close by Caribou Coffee which is a must! We are planning another stay soon!

Canal park-good view of the city

Overall this was an excellent stay. The apartment is charming with original brick and wooden beams as well as a fire place. Both bedrooms were a good size. They pretty much have everything you might need, such as a boot dryer, all kitchen things, coffee pot, an air purifier, fans and a white noise machine. Figuring out where to park was the only tough thing to figure out. We contacted the management and the replied very promptly and helped us sort through the confusion. Parking is in a flat lot on the back side of the building, not in a parking garage like it had stated in the listing. The parking lot is called the Marine Iron and it's basically in the same parking lot as you would park, if you're going to red lobster. There are signs designating the condo parking area. You can get to the condo from the backside of the building as well. The QR code was not only in the email welcome packet but also a paper copy in the room and worked wonderfully. It was nice to be able to use the pool and hot tub as well. I had never stayed in canal park with a room facing the city, but I found that I truly loved it. We kept the shades pulled up all the time just to look at it. The kids really liked that we could see the big ship out the bedroom windows as well. Would stay here again!

Great place

Only things I would change is making it clear that you need to check in at the desk to get a key card for the elevator. The email stated to enter a code at the elevator which did not work. I also wasn’t aware that I got a free parking pass which might be beneficial to others to know ahead of time.As for the room it could have been more clear that a pull out couch was available as a bed. With that, having it clear on where blankets and pillows are located would be helpful.

Fall Leaves Trip

We had a issue during our stay and the communication with the property manager was very poor. Our issue was not resolved while we were there! This stay was not the normal experience I have with our stays using VRBO! Just disappointed!

Great location

We truly enjoyed our visit to Duluth and our Stay at this location. Easy to access and close to North Shore shopping and restaurants. It is the perfect location when traveling to all the North Shore area has to offer with hiking and biking.

A clean, spacious unit in a great location

This is the second time we have stayed in this space and everything has been great. It is centrally located in the Canal Park area and is very well maintained. There was a minor snafu with parking (which was the fault of the parking lot company and not the property manager) but the issue was handled extremely expeditiously with the help of the rental office. Overall we had a great stay and will be returning in the future without hesitation.
