The house was perfect for our family of 6 and 2 dogs with the fenced in backyard. Great kitchen and lots of space to spread out. Much preferred to a tight hotel room. We will be back and hope to stay here again next time I am visiting my brother.

2nd Booking with Derwood House

This is the 2nd year in a row that my family has stayed here for Christmas. The house is lovely with more than enough room. It was clean, nicely decorated, kitchen was stocked with utensils. Host responded quickly if needed. Highly recommend, we look forward to coming back in the future!

The house was clean and the listing was exactly what we walked in to. Very beautiful home! Easy walk to metro and easy uber/lyft to grocery or restaurant. Stephanie was very quick to respond to any messages. The AC was out on the top floor when we arrived during our 4th of July stay and she was able to get someone out there to look at it the next day while we were exploring DC. The house is also in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again!

Lotsa room!

Great place to spread out. Cool big house. 15 minutes walk to Shady Grove metro station. Beds were great. Master bath big and cool features. The basement is separate and is rented out. You can hear them. Just something to be aware of.

Home away from home !

This home would accommodate a family reunion weekend with people of different ages or a longer couple getaway -as our stay was. The hosts provide what their own family would enjoy, and it certainly worked well for us. There are different areas to spend time and a deck/patio and yard large enough for play, all fenced in for privacy and security. We stayed to be near family in Rockville, we loved that we were able to bring our dogs and we felt at home right from the start. Our hosts were communicative as needed and quite gracious. We would return again without hesitation.

This has become a reliably excellent spot for us. We are very grateful to be able to use this home and its convenient location to conferences and events in the area.

Nice large house but a few concerns

We stayed with son, daughter in law and two grandchildren ages 4 and 3. The house is very spacious and comfortable . The listing disclosed that there are tenants in the basement which we expected . However , they are quite noisy and the sound does come up the stairs and can easily be heard in the family room and main floor when they are active downstairs with their children . We did not expect that much noise but it was not a big issue . The house manager was extremely responsive and helpful . However what was not disclosed was that he lives in the building in the apartment above the garage and has a door accessible to the laundry room upstairs . We could latch the door from our side to assure privacy but would have liked to know that going in . What was disturbing was that at some point the laundry facilities were used during our stay without notifying us . Our clothes were moved out of the dryer and it was our understanding this was for our exclusive use . This made us a bit uncomfortable knowing someone had entered the property without our knowledge especially since we have small children . If the laundry room is to be shared that needs to be disclosed to renters . All of that said though, the house was very nice and we would probably stay there again . It would have been helpful to have a couple of additional directions on the master shower temperature control and the hallway shower where hot was cold and vice versa , but overall good large house for a family trip with ample space to be comfortable and a nice backyard and responsive management .
