-for only 1 or 2 people-sorry NOT for visitors, unless discussed -looking for lake
-corporate stay in the area .
-There is NO PLACE to DOCK a BOAT or PARK A TRAILER.
- If you are renting a boat for a day, then check with the owners about a temporary dock
.-snowbirds in transit or scoping the area
This is a perfect place for a quiet get-a-away for 2 or wonderful alternative to a required hotel stay. The cottage was built totally by hand, by the owner, with trees cut from the property. It is designed for adults and there is nowhere for kids to play.
-No fire pit or place to burn
TWO KAYAKS are available to enjoy our large cove or to explore Shull Island.
Accommodations: Den and kitchen with island on one floor. Downstairs 600 sq. ft. with a queen bed and sitting area. Sleeps 2- one queen bed downstairs.
Three large windows overlooking the lake. We have all new appliances, including granite counter tops and 2 HD TVs with Dish Satellite.
There is a deck off the lower level for enjoying the lake view and for kayak or swimming access.
Off Season, 2 nights available if less than 2 weeks from arrival.

If you stay a week and could leave the lake, it's two hours from Charleston, SC. Downtown Columbia is 35/40 minutes away and the zoo (30 minutes) The State Museum and Zoo are well worth the visit. Restaurants and many shopping choices are in Lexington which is an 18 minute drive. Many restaurants and grocery stores are an easy 10/15 minute drive from the guest house. Most renters prefer to shop prior to arrival.

Wonderful place to relax and unplug for a few days. The weather was extremely hot so just enjoyed looking at beautiful lake homes, local restaurants and a short trip to Columbia for the day. Beautiful property, safe walking area and quiet surroundings. While we didn’t take advantage of the kayaks the the lake is beautiful. Even with construction going on next door we rarely heard anything. Owners are super friendly and great!

We had a great few nights at this lake cottage in Gilbert. Ellen and Andy were so kind and gracious and extremely responsive. This was also one the best stocked vacation rentals we've ever stayed in, making it truly relaxing.

This cottage is on a beautiful, flower filled property with a breathtaking view of the lake from the living room windows. It was clean and well cared for. The hosts went above and beyond, as they thought of everything you could possibly need for a "home away from home" stay. They were also happy to provide information regarding restaurants, walking areas, and sightseeing. Having coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening on the deck that overlooks the lake was the height of relaxation. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a tranquil get away by the water!

Everything was perfect, great few, close to everything, kitchen was perfect, hosts were great, we will definitely stay here again, cleanliness upon arrival was excellent

The cabin was lovely and comfortable. We took full advantage of the chairs on the patio and sat by the lake for ages!

Beautiful well maintained property with all the amenities needed. Cottage had a full kitchen, large sitting areas and bederoom. We loved everything about the property. Would absolutely recommend and stay again.

Lakeside getaway

Serene cottage on the lake
Quiet and peaceful location on the lake. Cottage had everything we would need. Owners were very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

Kitchen was well equipped and spotless. Hosts are lovely: friendly, responsive, and accommodating. The cottage itself is so pleasant and peaceful. I could have sat all day outside on the lakefront patio. The cottage itself is a home away from home full of comforts and beautifully decorated. I especially love the pictures of our hosts extensive travels.

My husband, Andy, is a retired airline pilot who flew for Pan Am and then Delta Airlines. He commuted to NY in order to live on the lake. He is now a golfer and can gladly help you with any area golf questions. I am a former French teacher and will gladly help you with lake questions or anything else.

My husband cut 100 trees from our property in 1993 and started a 'project' with the lumber he had from the trees. He had planned for it to be a place for projects. Hence-part of the reason for the bathroom upstairs. He would work a while and then quit for a year or so. We finally decided to finish it as a guest house in order to use it for our own personal guests. We had another vrbo on Lake Murray and enjoyed sharing it That helped us decide to use the guest house as a vrbo also.

Use the private dock for grilling or just relaxing by the lake. It is mostly shady, so sorry, fellow sun worshipers! Some just enjoy the beautiful view from inside the cottage. It is a large space for 2 people-Quiet and cozy. Perfect for relaxation! The kayaks are such fun.
