Very spacious and clean! In a prime location that’s within a 15-20 minute drive to numerous locations like downtown San Diego, Mission Beach, and the airport! Josh, the host, was very helpful in answering all of our questions. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Great place to stay for a getaway weekend with food fun and music. Great host. Took care of all issues immediately. Property is well equipped to accommodate a large group and it’s a very quite place to rest after an evening in gaslamp.

Cool place - neighborhood iffy

Great place with tons of bedrooms and bathrooms. Gourmet kitchen and fun stuff for kids and adults (Foosball, dartboard, shuffleboard). This house has everything and just a short drive to gaslamp or attractions like seaworld. Only sketchy part is the neighborhood is a little iffy as there was a boarded up house a few houses down, but nothing happened to us or our cars. Would stay here again in a minute.

Thank you David! We appreciate your kind review. Our location next to downtown, Balboa Park and Airport has been a blessing. Our neighbors are renovating, one doing a full remodel and the other opening a distillery 3 doors down. City of San Diego just approved our neighborhood plan and will be redoing many things over the next few years. Super exciting.

Beautiful House

The house was great. We enjoyed it. I would have preferred some photos of the outside of the house and the neighborhood. The area is not the greatest.

Thank you John for staying with us at the Bamboo Loft, near downtown and convention center. We do have recent photos of the exterior of this rental; the bbq and sink area outside bamboo loft and an outdoor table. We also have a secret new area that guests must find and explore in person. Our little beach relaxing area is fun for kids. Our neighborhood is explained in the listing as commercial and not a good fit for all groups. We request that you confirm the location is suitable for your group before and after booking. Thank you so much! Glad you loved the house and the 23 beds were comfortable for your group retreat.

Cold showers and radio silence

The property seemed great for our large group of 18 guys until the larger bamboo loft was without hot water for the entire weekend. Josh and his property manager were unable to fix it the entire weekend and thus we had to wash dishes and shower entirely with cold water. When I asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience I was met with silence and ghosting from both of them which is ridiculous considering that we paid ~$7500 for the property for a single weekend and did not have warm water the entire time. To boot, the group prior to ours left the trash cans overflowing and trash day was not until the Tuesday after our stay. Josh told me on Friday morning that they would swing by to pick up the excess trash but failed to stick to his word and we were stuck piling trash on top of the already overflowing bins. It was frankly one of the worst host experiences that I've had across any booking platform. The silver lining being that we generally enjoyed the property and the location but had a sour taste from missing basic amenities like hot water, the poor communication, and broken promises from the host.

Unfortunately, the water heater broke during their stay. We spoke with the guest 20+ times and repaired it Friday night. Guest reported it again Saturday middle day and we called our plumber to come from a family vacation; he replaced water heater within 6 hours and finished around 7pm on Saturday when the guest told us to stop working so they could shower. We spent $2400 on the repairs and communicated via phone, text, in person and via plumber 2 times. Saying "radio silence" is not accurate. We communicated well as we always do to ensure our guests have a nice stay. We apologize for the issue. Our listing has 200+ 5-star reviews on other platforms as we always exceed expectations.
