The house was incredible. The property was really fun too wander around. The location to the beach was incredible and the beach was very fun to check out, lots of driftwood and shells and interesting terrain. We loved our cozy little A-frame house. The decorations were so cute and felt very right on the beach! The host were very gracious and accommodating of our kiddos.

Mermaid’s Rest - A wonderful place to stay near Newport, OR

We really enjoyed this wonderful A-frame cottage in a coastline complex in Otter Crest, close to Newport, OR. The amenities were very good, nice decor, and the setting was peaceful—less than 0.25 mile walk to the beach.

Everything was clean. The small kitchen had everything we needed, as did the bathroom. Due to the vintage age of the cabin, it can feel a little dark even with the lamps, and it’s important to remember that it is a cabin. The mermaid theme decor was super fun and detailed.

Lovely stay at Mermaid’s Rest

Mermaid’s Rest was a sweet little spot for our family of 4. We loved the short walk to the beach and the proximity to Otter Rock and Depoe Bay. Would definitely recommend.

Great and friendly staff, super close to the beach with a little walk through the woods. Cute little pet friendly cabin which was fully stocked with everything we needed. The house was clean, could use some minor improvements but overall we were happy with the place!

The chalet was charming, decorated in 60s decor, and the grandkids thought the A-frame style was fun. However, it is in need of upgrading and maintenance (inside and outside), a deep cleaning, and new carpet (or carpet cleaning at least). The kitchen is minimally stocked, and pots & pans need replacing. It would have been nice if some games or cards were in the unit. There is no dishwasher in the unit, which isn't a necessity, but previous renters did a poor job of washing dishes and many were caked with dried food. All-in-all we had a nice time and I had to remind myself that you get what you pay for.

We are always sad when a guest leaves a less than stellar review. However, this is confusing because this was not left by the person who stayed or who had a contract with us. We require any disatisfaction to be reported immediately on arrival, as we pride ourselves in being able to solve any problem to make a traveler happy. While this person does not appear to be the traveler, this group did not follow that rule or allow us the opportunity to resolve their issues.

Perfect Home Base for Exploring

I came out here for a long weekend with my daughter. We had no real plans other than that we wanted to explore. Otter Rock is perfectly in between Newport and Depoe Bay. We had no trouble finding our way to the beach and various local attractions. The house instructions were clear and very helpful - I love that you included weather information and recommended attractions, and the "speak like a local" guide. The house itself was tastefully decorated, clean, and had everything we could possibly need. Thanks for the home away from home. Can't wait to come back!

Cute and kitschy

Great location in Otter Rock with private beach access. The cottage is OG vintage with a lot of character. The carpet in the corners of the bedroom looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time and it was fairly dusty. FYI the stairs to the beach are damaged and unusable, so be prepared to do some light climbing up/down where the wooded path meets the ocean. Fine for us but others may have trouble with this.
