Welcome to the quaint community of Decorah. This getaway is located steps from the local attractions including the Butterfly Park, Pulpit Rock Brewery, Landing Market, Whippy Dip, and Vesterheim Museum to name a few. The property is located near the Upper Iowa River ideal for fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and tubing. The Trout Run Trail is a picturesque path passing along dikes and abandoned rail beds ideal for biking, walking, and running.

Description of space:
The master bedroom includes a king bed that can be reconfigured into two XL twins beds upon request. The second bedroom includes a queen bed. The living room includes a queen pull out sofa. Open kitchen concept is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, utensils, oils, Keurig coffee and tea. Washer and dryer located outside the unit and available for use during your stay. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, iron, and ironing board. A Pack'n Play available upon request.

Lovely and well-appointed apt near downtown and Luther. Comfortable space and great kitchen. They provide toiletries, coffee, and snacks as a bonus, too.

Thoughtfully provisioned apartment

Without a doubt, this was the most thoughtfully outfitted property we have experienced. The hosts have thought of everything a guest and visitor to the area could need. So well organized we didn't need to reach out to the hosts for anything. Comfortable apartment. We are sensitive to room deodorizers, so like a lot of properties and hotels, we noticed the same here. Overall a great spot and impressive hosts.

Weekend getaway

We were in town for a family wedding and stayed 2 nights at this property. It was so clean and decorated so beautifully. Pam is a great host and I would highly recommend booking with her. Great, comfy stay!

Great home base for a trip to Decorah

Great family space

Great apartment for our immediate family while visiting family for the holidays. Location was convenient, the apartment is cozy great with enough space for all 4 of us and I love the flexibility of the bed set up in the second bedroom. Pam does a great job anticipating amenity needs and making the space welcoming.

Another wonderful stay at Butterfly Retreat!

This is really a wonderful place to stay in Decorah. Everything is nice and new, yet it feels cozy and comfortable. The location is great for accessing the bike trail. Beds very comfortable.

The place was nice and clean. It isn’t far from most attractions, and places in town are somewhat walkable depending on your willingness to walk. Neighborhood was nice and quiet

Beautiful Decorah!

This is an excellent location and parking is right alongside of the building. We were close to downtown activities and just as close to all the beautiful outdoor activities that Decorah provides. Our owner/manager was very responsive. This is a great place to stay.

Came for a running event. Great location. Clean felt like home. AC was on for us. Very comfortable. Easy Check in and check out. Thanks for the fans. Would stay here again anytime. Highly recommend.

Highly recommended

The pictures are accurate. All of the emenities of home are here. Just bring clothes and food! There is even welcome mats in front of each door! Bottled water in fridge, snacks on counter and beer glasses on the freezer. Small basket of toiletries in case you forgot something!

Cute and cozy…great location!

Pam was super great to work with…helping me out with a few questions I had and offering additional information on local events. The information was clear and comprehensive and super timely. The unit itself was super cute and cozy! Not only was it stocked with everything I think we could need or want, but there were so many other nice extra touches too! I highly recommend adding this location to your list of options for lodging in Decorah!

My husband and I were born and raised in northeast Iowa and have raised our family in Decorah. Decorah has a strong Norwegian heritage with Nordic Fest being an annual event. Our youngest son is a Nordic Dancer. Every 5 years tryouts are held to form the junior group. The kids who are selected are in the program for 10 years. Nordic Dancers perform at various event throughout the summer with the final 5 performances during Nordic Fest. The family photo was taken after his last performance in which he was both exhausted and relieved that he was finished for the year. Our son has close family support with everyone making the trek back home to enjoy the festivities and support their younger brother.
