Had another GREAT stay at The Refuge ! Nice location with VIEWS all around . Beautiful drives to locations in any direction . The Refuge has everything needed to enjoy a “home cooked meal” ! Comfortable bed .

Best pet friendly stay! Our dog loved the fenced yard. All the thoughtful touches inside and outside were much appreciated! Very clean and great to have everything needed for enjoying food on the grill.

Completely quiet area perfect for sitting outside around the fire pit or stargazing. The house is a bit away from the nearest town of any significance with a big grocery store (Food Lion) but it's not so far away that it's completely inconvenient.

The location and cottage were both great! It was private and had great space for our dog and us as well. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed cooking in. Clean and cozy for sure!

Perfect location when traveling with a pet. All amenities that you would need were provided. The location allows easy access to Rock Springs Mountain Farm and many other local attractions.

This was our 2nd stay here . Love the location, premises, cleanliness, and is well appointed with everything one needs for cooking, relaxing, watching TV, etc .We visited Charlottesville, Lynchburg, & Appomattox via a reasonably easy drive .Communication with Rebecca was very responsive & helpful !Thank you for another GREAT stay !

Amazing Wilderness Retreat

My mom and I used this place as a home base as we explored around Charlottesville and Lynchburg, it was perfect! Remote and relaxing with all the amenities we could want. Rebecca was super responsive and helped us have an amazing stay!

What a cozy and peaceful home. The house had everything we needed and the kitchen was well equipped. Our host Rebecca was great and answered all my questions. Wish we could have stayed longer and explored the area more! The scenery was stunning.

Weekend Getaway

Lovely quaint refuge on a peaceful, beautiful property with excellent access to breweries, wineries, and plenty of other activities in the area.

Location-30 minutes from everything and anything. It's close to a road where people drive over 50 miles and hour on a curve. The map drop is not right. Comfort- 2 small lve seats. 1 vinyl and the other fabric. Both stiff. 2 bar stools without backs. Only 2 true tables are outdoors. Roku for entertainment and wifi. No comfy place to sit. Kitchen well stocked with pans, dishes, spices. Best room in the place. Bathroom with oddly high and small mirror. Towel bar is for decor and cannot hold a towel falls apart. Someone else's hair was on the shower wall when we got there. The bathroom was old, the fan was not installed right, The pillows were like 10 cotton balls in a pillow case. Tried to use one of the blankets in the closet to puff them up but they were dirty and stained and folded up in there. Both beds were metal with loud springs. Very spongy. If you bring pets, beware of wolves/ coyotes in the evenings and at night. Crying heard at night outdoors. It's very rural. There are nice neighbors near by but they don't look like they would have small children. We made the most of it. Could not work here with a laptop. Could not relax. I would not leave my dog here alone. The price should be 120 per night at most. Were it not be for the kitchen, it would have been a 0-1 star. Why is VRBO advertising them?

The Refuge is such a wonderful place.! It was perfect for us. The location is quiet and peaceful. We had a few late afternoon showers and it was fun sitting on the front porch and enjoying the summer run. The back yard is huge with a great fire pit. I can't wait to go back!

Great place to relax

We had a good time at The Refuge. A little house in the country that felt homey and inviting. Rebecca was super responsive whenever I contacted her. A nice alternative to a hotel room.

Cozy-relaxing cabin

Staying at the refuge gave us the peace and solitude we needed. Having a well stocked kitchen and bath was appreciated.

Cottage was very clean and had many amenities which was very much appreciated. Fenced yard was a perk due to our dogs. Very private and easy to access. We were attending a wedding at Lovingston Winery which was close.We were very pleased with our stay! Thank you!
