"Sound Waves" is a delightful Beach House Resort that sits high on a dune with panoramic views of the ocean and sound. Located 3 lots back (150 yards) from the Oceanfront and about a minute's walk to the beach.

You will find beach chairs, beach cart, and toys already at the house for your day at the beach. Enjoy this spacious house with all the extra amenities to enhance your home-away-from home vacation experience. It's your choice of spending sunny days on the beach with sandbars or at your own private pool (16' x 38' ) and a semi-private 5-Person HOT TUB located on the 2nd level deck. Lots of pool games, floats and lounge chairs by the pool facing the pool area. At the end of the day, relax and have cold drinks, have dinner under the Gazebo on the top deck, while enjoying the beautiful sunset view with your family and friends.

The Great Room with a 42" HDTV w/HD receiver. 3 additional 26" HDTVs (one w/DVD). Rec Room with a 7' pool table offer fun and entertainment for all ages! Enjoy commercial free digital movie channels plus HD premier and Music Channels. Also provide for your convenience is unlimited LD calls: USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. The Keyless Entry is a great beach convenience.

Close to quaint shops and exquisite restaurants in Duck Village, you can take the active route and indulge in water sports, or bike along paths throughout Duck.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A great place to stay. Very clean, very comfortable. The only issue was I asked for the pool to be heated which didn't get turned on till the day before I left to go back home. So the pool went unused.

We enjoyed the space and openness of the home, the full-size washer & dryer, and the proximity to the beach. The kitchen was a nice size for multiple people working around one another and the large table accommodated most of our group. Only downside was the lack of a 2nd fridge. A large cooler with daily ice additions kept our overflow items cold. The regular texts and notifications were much appreciated!

Our Vacation

We showed up Saturday night with the internet not working no sheets on the bed the hot tub not prepared plus other items like the lights not working in the pool plus beach items not usable. I was for 3 days on the phone with the management company to fix all items. No one showed up before hand to check all items.

Girl’s Week at the Beach

The property was largely as described, however, the description of the 3rd bedroom with a queen bed was missing. The property has 2 grills - one gas and one charcoal. Both grills were horribly dirty and couldn’t be used, even with aluminum foil. There were nice upgrades to the property, like new decking on upper deck, new kitchen counter and newer appliances. The mattresses were very comfortable. The pool was great! We didn’t try the hot tub. We had a problem with ants in the kitchen when we arrived and called maintenance right away. The pest control company came the next day. That was terrific! All in all, it was a decent place for our group, but much of the interior needs updating.

Great Week at Sound Waves!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 9 stayed at Sound Waves in late June 2019. The house was great, nice decor and very spacious. We had a few issues the first day (missing grill and internet not working) and the rental company was very helpful in getting those issues resolved quickly. The pool for a rental was fantastic. The location was great, about a 7 minute walk to the beach. The only small issue was there were A LOT of spiders. Some inside, mostly outside. Our beach chairs and gear were covered in the critters and their cobwebs each morning. Overall, a very minor detail that was overlooked by the awesome week we had at Sound Waves.

Vacationing in Duck

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was in a great location for us. Easy walk to the beach. We liked being in the Duck area. The house was clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were 10 adults and 1 child. We had plenty of room. Everyone enjoyed the pool area. Probably would recommend paying the extra money for heating the pool if you go early in June like we did. We didn't have any major issues while we were vacationing. The wifi was sporadic at times. The screen doors on a couple of the sliding doors need new rollers. They didn't open very easy. The house did have some beach chairs. The one collapsible beach wagon was broken. There wasn't any kind of pool accessories like floating devices. Everyone agreed that our stay was very good. The house is a little dated. The beds were comfortable in all the rooms except the master. The whole process of finding the place where we wanted to stay to booking and paying and checking in was very easy. The communication with the rental company was very good. We would definitely use them again. We didn't do anything special during our stay. Went into Duck a few times. Went up to the 4x4 beaches which we really enjoyed. I would recommend this property for a place to stay.

Don’t believe the pictures

Pretty disappointing. In my opinion, a lot of false advertising. Up-to-date pictures are very important when selecting a vacation rental.lThe outside - where do I start? It was atrocious. Note - this is what we arrived to find… There’s NO hammock. Any wooden furniture you see in the pictures are ALL dry-rotted, legs and arms falling off; couldn’t even sit in them. I picked up one side table & the leg fell off. There are plastic Adirondack chairs on the deck. All but 2 of them were broken - unusable - dumped in a pile. The picture of the grill with nice green lawn - nope. Now to the pool area - there were 2 lounge chairs - 2!! How can you provide only 2 for a house that holds up to 12 people? To top it off, they were broken! The umbrella is broken. There are a few more regular seat plastic chairs. The table is plastic & not sturdy, the legs repeatedly came off. The shrubbery is overgrown, so some kind of tree berry draped over into the pool & we stepped on them all the time. There was a rusted out metal trash can, not sure why. We turned it upside down & used it as a side table because the others were either broken or dry rotted. Just unkept all the way around the perimeter of the pool. There’s a huge crack in the foundation with metal holes protruding from them. The pictures of the front are inaccurate - all the greenery is overgrown & covers everything. The beach items left for use are filthy & just thrown in a big pile on the side of the house. The screen door on the middle level was laying on the the deck. The inside is not too bad. The pictures of the furniture in the living room are outdated. The couches pick up all the material from the rug. All of the bathrooms are shared. The TV in the top bedroom wasn’t even hooked up - wires & cable dumped on the floor. If I could attach pictures to this review, I certainly would. The property owner should be ashamed of themselves for what they charge for what you get. These issues could be fixed if someone cared about the property.

Sound wave Rental in Duck:

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We liked the house overall except for a couple of problems. We had very tiny ants on kitchen counters, dining room table, book case and couch area in the living room area. The ceiling fans in the kitchen and living room area had a lot of cob webs . The fan blades in the kitchen area had a lot of grease and dust built up on fan well as fan in living room area. They need three way bulbs for lights in living room . Had to replace with 60 watt bulbs in cupboard. We let realty office know but no one came to clean or take care of ant problem. If these couple of problems were taken care of this is a great place to stay.

We had a great time!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall the house was very nice. Completely furnished with everything you could possibly need. There were a few small items that need some attention inside the house that we have passed along. Great hot tub, and the heated pool option was wonderful. There were seven of us and the house never seemed crowded. I LOVED the crows nest and the view. A very pleasant and short walk to the beach, and it is such a beautiful beach. The little town of Duck is charming, and located very close to everything we wanted to do. I would rent this house again, and would recommend it to any small group. I also wanted to note that the pool was cleaned at mid week as well, which we found very thoughtful of the rental company. We had trouble with our hot tub not heating properly Thursday night, and we reported it to the rental company Friday morning. Within an hour and a half they had someone there to repair it. Even if we need a larger house next time, we will not hesitate to use Beach Realty each and every time we visit the Outer Banks.

Great house, needs makeover

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved our week at Sound Waves. Its a short walk to the beach, which can be an issue in Duck. This was our first stay in Duck and we found it much less enjoyable than our past dozen or more trips to more southern parts of OBX. Your mileage may vary.This particular house is great; however, the entire property - inside and outside - could use a thorough cleaning/sprucing up/organizing. Perhaps this is a function of the time of year (mid-August). Perhaps a function of cleaning service (we didn't find it well cleaned inside and there was trash in the yard).

Wonderful Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were 8 of us including 3 teenagers. They had plenty of room to do their own thing. The location to the beach was awesome. The views were spectacular. We really enjoyed reading up on the Crow's deck. The pool was a big hit. The home had every amenity we could possibly need. The rental company was great to deal with. We had a minor issue with one of the showers clogging and they were there very quickly to solve the problem. All in all we had a wonderful vacation and would definitely rent this home again in the future.

Great Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house has a great location. Very close to the beach and walkable, even with 4 kids 4 yo and under in tow. We traveled with three different families so it was nice for each family to have their own level for living space (bedrooms on all 3 levels). The house was very noisy, however. Anytime anyone walked in the kitchen upstairs you can hear it all over the house, so early risers made their presence known. The house is a bit dated but had everything you need. The pool was great - the kids loved it and it was large enough to swim some laps. We had a mix up with the towels where I had requested 10 sets of towels that were not in the house when we arrived. The rental company very promptly got in touch with the linen service and they provided the towels for us that evening.
