The house is located 38 minutes from Manhattan (New York City), in a quiet and safe neighborhood in New Rochelle, (New Rochelle is a city in Westchester County, New York, United States, in the southeastern portion of the state). In 2020, the city had a population of 79,726, making it the seventh-largest in the state of New York. Some residents refer to the city as New Ro or New Roc City). An 8-11 minute walk/5 minute drive to the train station, 8 min walk to the local beach, and to Hudson Park, 18 minutes walk to Glenn Island Park, 8 mins drive to Iona College (2 miles away), 2 blocks from Monroe College. New Rochelle is located on the Long Island Sound, and it is home to a large community of New York City commuters. The nearby village of Larchmont (five minute drive) has a nice European feel, with bakeries, wine shops, cheese shops and restaurants. New Rochelle is slightly larger town, with a diverse community and a mix of various good restaurants in the downtown area and along the ocean front. The house is 2 blocks away from the city marina, which offers a chance for a very nice stroll by the ocean. We are 15-20 minutes driving to the Bronx Zoo and Botanical gardens. Some of our favorite restaurants within walking distance: Modern, Gnarly Vine, Patsy's (exceptional pizza), Maria Restaurant ( 2 Michelin Stars), Mamma Francesca Trattoria, Fratelli, Red Lotus (Thai), Coromandel Cuisine of India , Duvonick (Croatian Food)Agostino's. Many more exceptional restaurants in Larchmont and Mamaroneck are a short drive away on local route 1.
Recreational opportunities abound in this historic city, with 9.3 miles of shoreline, 231 acres of public parks and a municipal marina. The downtown features a Walk of Fame, art galleries, cinemas, well-rated restaurants and boutique shopping.
