Perfect amount of space to rest! The water front view was incredible. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. Really good location near a lot of trails and good small mom&pop food. We will be coming back!

Anette is a wonderful host. I made a mistake & she was extremely understanding & quickly had a solution. Everyone who was on the property was were great & hospitable. I will look forward to staying again

This is a great place to stay! Wonderful views, nice facility, and friendly host. It was even warm inside the yurt on a 20 degree winter night!

Great stay! Super clean and quiet. It was perfect for a trip to get away. Also close to Luray and stores if you need anything. Would come back again especially in summer to enjoy the river more!

The grass needed cutting, the ceiling fan light chain was broken, couldn't leave the fan on, no toaster as advertised, no coffee filters for the coffee maker, the grill needs replacing, had a hard time cooking on it, was all lopsided. Firepit and grill we're not cleaned out. Both were full of ash, the fire pit had wet wood in it and the grill was full of wet charcoal and ash. Had a blast with the neighbors.

Unique lodging in beautiful location

The Painted Horse yurt was fun for my family of 4. The campground location was convenient and setting was very pretty. Good communication with owner.

We had a really unique and memorable stay! The yurt’s location and grounds were stunning so close to the river. We are avid tent campers so it felt fancy being in a yurt. Being centrally located to Shenandoah made it extra special and easy to visit the local sites. The bathhouse was convenient, and the host was friendly and responsive. The only downsides were the super uncomfortable bed and the showers, which may be difficult if you’re sensitive to sulfur smells. Overall, a beautiful setting and a one-of-a-kind experience! This would’ve been perfect with some upgrades for comfort.

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay! For future guests knowledge … bed has been replaced! As for sulphur in well water … sometimes stronger smelling than others and I always recommend bringing drinking water. While our water is potable lots of folks don’t like the taste of well water. Years back folks traveled for many miles to come soak in sulphur springs in this area - say good for joints. We do treat the water and I do my very best to keep the smell at a minimum. For most it’s always bearable. Annette

Love the yurt!

We had a great time in the Painted Horse yurt. The yurt was very clean and had electricity, a mini fridge, a/c, a deck, picnic table, fire pit, and grill. The bathrooms are very close and also clean. The owner Annette was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The only downside was that you are close to the road and can hear/see the cars go by, but the lakeside view was worth it.

Fun experience

Anette was so helpful when booking yyis get away for ky family, she gave me great information on nearby attractions and she was extremely sweet during the process. I would definitely visit other properties owned by her.

Birthday Weekend

We truly enjoyed our weekend at the Hummingbird Yurt! We got to the campsite after dark and it was so great not to have to set up a tent! Being so close to the river, my family was able to fish, play, read and relax whenever we wanted, which made for an amazing birthday weekend for my husband! There were other families also camping that weekend and all the kids enjoyed “hunting for ghosts”, although they weren’t able to catch any! We will definitely be returning!

Quick getaway

Great property on the banks of the river. Dedicated tables, grills and firepits for each yurt. Clean bathhouse. Wish we could have stayed longer. Only thing not perfect was a squeeky bed

Great way to spend a 2020 holiday!

My family and I just got back from our stay at the hummingbird yurt. Given that it was nearly winter, we didn’t do any tubing or get in the water. The yurt was comfortable enough for 4 of us, but I’m glad we didn’t bring the dog too, or we would have been stuffed in there. We were plenty warm, but unfortunately the showers were pretty cold. She did warn about, although the sink trick didn’t work tok well.

Perfect get away. Yurts to get hot during the day, but that's what the river is for!

Well maintained and marketed with honesty about issues like the sulfur smelling water. Beautiful spot. We had a grand time fishing and swimming with the dog.

Wonderful Getaway

A beautiful property on the river! We loved the yurt and how cozy it was. All of the provided amenities were fantastic! Close to stores for easy shopping, if required. Very close to some amazing hiking trails. Bathrooms and showers were very clean! Easy to buy firewood on site. Loved our visit and will definitely go back!
