This cabin is a Family Treasure. Built as the original vacation cabin on Island Lane, road created by my Dad (retired professor from UVA) fifty years ago. Great Smith Mountain Lake location! Right on the main channel adjacent to lake marker R-8 where the Roanoke and Blackwater Rivers meet.

Recently renovated 1st floor, kitchen & bathroom. Expansive lake view with exquisite sunsets are yours for the taking. Peek at the lake from every window direction, face the lake from the deck (like on a boat, and could step out into the water) and just a few steps below will take you to a private stationary dock, where boats can be parked. A few steps up off the upper deck will lead you to perfect views of the July 4th holiday fireworks from Saunders Parkway Marina. Brand new upgrade features a double mini-split ductless heat pump system provides clean, efficient AC, and heat. Please note: Vacation rental guests do bring their own Bed linens and Towels.

This property was exactly as advertised surrounded by tranquil outdoor lake views and sunsets. The host was easy to reach when needed.

Place was very clean and the AC worked great furniture was very comfortable and I read reviews about the water had a odor i did not smell any odor at all would love to go stay again

This is a lovely old-fashioned lake home. It was clean, comfortable and had terrific views. The lake was very low during our visit but the sunsets from the deck were still beautiful.

The house is absolutely perfect. From the minute you walk in it feels peaceful and relaxing. The house has everything you need. The deck is great and the view of the lake is beautiful. It doesn’t get any better.

Property was exceptionally clean and located in a very quiet neighborhood. The listing and pictures were accurate, and the price reflects some deferred maintenance on the property exterior (nothing that impacted us). I would return. Host reached out immediately reiterating the need to bring your own towels and sheets, for those reading challenged persons such as I. I would also recommend bringing blanket(s) and pillows, as those that are provided are a bit dusty, as is typical in an infrequently used vacation home. Overall, I would recommend.

Wish we had one more day! If we did not have to be back to teach children church on Sunday we definitely would have left Sunday. It is a perfect place for a quick, short vacation to getaway from the city and enjoy the beauty of Gods creation.

Host is amazing! Very responsive to communication. House is in a beautiful location, very quaint and quiet. Went for a fishing tournament And plan on going back year after year.

My husband and his friend stayed at Laura‘s house for a fishing tournament. They said everything was great! The house was meticulously clean and very comfortable, with everything they needed. And the views were amazing.

Awesome place! Great vuews, great weather access, great SUP's that come with. So glad I got to enjoy it. BUT NO sheet nor towels certainly did not make it the paradise I expected. Simple hygiene really.

John K, I am sorry you neglected to read the RENTAL RULES, that you agreed to when you rented the property. It clearly stated for guests to provide their own bed linens and towels, and this is very common at many, many rental properties. Thank you for enjoying the place, though, and for your 5 star review. Just as the rental name says, "Love Sunsets?" had the best sunsets ever! The unit was spotlessly cleaned and had many things that made one feel so at home.

Great getaway spot

It was a great location to view the lake, and amazing sunsets! We had a great time here, even though the weather didn't cooperate for using the kayaks. There is a lot to do around the lake, and we didn't have any issues finding good places to eat nearby.

The week was wonderful. We kayaked and fished . The cottage was comfortable and the views amazing

We visited several state parks and enjoyed meeting other people visiting or living in the area.

We loved it!

The cabin was beautiful and the view was amazing. We loved watching the sun set from the dock and had great fishing the whole time there. Will definitely be staying again in the future.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

My father spotted Smith Mountain Lake about 50 years ago and bought a large track of land. In fact, he put the road in, on this peninsula. Several family homes were built and some lots sold. This cottage property was constructed by my father and was my home for 16 years. To eliminate a daily commute to work, I moved to town nearby, and created a beautiful short-term lake rental to share with visiting guests on vacation.
