Cottage

The home inside was cozy and adequate. The outside yard was not as dog friendly as we had hoped. The was some construction/remodeling debris in the yard and it wasn’t completely fenced.

I would not stay after I got there due to the conditions of the place. There was a stump in the front yard that was burning causing smoke everywhere, the porch furniture was unusable when we entered the house it was filthy! Handles on refrigerator and oven door were broke off. Cigarette ashes were all over the top of the dryer. The kitchen sink had a wet dirty rag on it. Among other dirty items. The bathroom had mold in the shower and there were used soaps with hair on them in the tub. One of the tub drain hole was rusty. One of the bathroom doors would not shut. The beds had been slept and one was not made. There were no towels. There were dead bugs on all the window seals the throw rugs were filthy. There was an open bottle of whiskey in the freezer. I did contact the host immediately and told her what we found and that I did take pictures. Also the closets were unusable because of the junk stuffed in them. The host told me that the gardener must have been there using it. She did refund some of the charges but I feel that I deserve the cleaning fee and the service fee refunded also. We were forced to scramble to locate other accommodations, which ended up being a shared hotel room which incurred additional expenses as we could not prepare our own meals. I would appreciate your prompt attention and response in this matter.

Terrible

Had to message the owner about access to the house. Septic tank was draining/overflowing into the yard. Stair steps weren't screwed down. Porch railing was rotting. Porch furniture was broken and/or rotting. Couches were stained and coffee cups were dirty. No toilet paper, only 2 towels available. Bed covers were covered in what looked like hair. We managed for only 1 night, but considered finding a hotel.

I have to go along with most other reviews. This house could be a little Jewel, but sadly it is not. The only going for it is the location. Sadly when you have a dog there are not many choices. The bed was not clean, human hair in it. The water stinks like rotten eggs, we did not shower for the 5 days we stayed. I held my breath when I brushed my teeth. We bought bottled water. There was no trash liner in the tall trash can so we did not use it. There was the last person's feminine napkins in the bathroom trash can. The towels were not clean, disgusting. You cant use the back yard, its a mess and they dont even clean or sweep leaves. We strictly stuck to the small front porch. The house was way too cold for us and I could not adjust it, it would revert to the previous setting. Im sure there's more, I'll remember later, you get the drift.

This little home was quaint. Not very kept. Had to go buy our own towels and wash cloths there was not any. Messaged host about this without any response. Very little kitchen utensils. Beds were some to be desired. One didn’t fold out. Didn’t hear from host till night before check in for confirmation.

Although the location was perfect and the house looked as expected we were very disappointed with the cleanliness, or lack there of. Furniture was stained, hair and small pieces of trash were all over the floor and it was clear it wasn’t vacuumed or swept before we checked in.

Don’t do it

This place should not be allowed to be listed with VRBO. The yard is full of junk and overgrown. The house is dirty… really dirty. The back door doesn’t even lock. There was drops of blood in the sink when we arrived. The couch was so dirty we couldn’t even sit on it. There was rotten milk in the fridge. The freezer was iced over and had old bags of ice that were frozen to the bottom of the freezer. The stove was dirty. There were only 2 towels in the entire house. It looked like someone lived there. I don’t usually write reviews, but I’m writing this one to warn people. Don’t stay here.

Covington

This is an 80 per night property, it shows all the signs of an older property. The beds were okay, good pillows. The house is very cramped, to many pieces of furniture and Knick knacks. The host is great, responded very quickly. The location is pretty good.

Cute house!

The house was nice, good location, easy check in/out. My only complaint is that the water from the pipes had a bit of a smell to it (the faucets and the shower). Other than that everything was as advertised. Great for our Mardi Gras trip.

Just what we needed

First off, the description and pictures are a completely accurate, what you see is what you get. The area of the home is 5 mins away from anything you need and close to everything. The house is dated and it’s an older home but honestly the price is a great deal for what you get. We weren’t planning on being at the house for more than sleeping, but if we had to be inside it would have worked perfectly fine. It doesn’t have a lot of extras but it has everything you need. The host was easy to communicate with and we had no issues. Being that the house is older the doors catch on the floor and the water has a smell from the well but nothing was a deal breaker and we would definitely stay here again.

Good for a night stay

I stayed in this house for one night and it definitely worked for me and my family. My main comments are on the cleanliness and what seems to be construction. I noticed whenever we first showed up and got inside that it is definitely more of a cluttered house.Also looking through the bathrooms they definitely needed some more deep cleaning. As I walked onto the back porch with my dog to let him out we did notice that the porch seemed to be having some work done on it. Thankfully, I noticed it quick enough because there was a pile of nails that my dog almost stepped on. Also I did read through some of the other comments about the egg water the only problem that I had with it was whenever I tried to run the washer other than that, I did not smell it.

Sub-par

This property could be a nice cabin if someone took care of it. It smells like mold, pipes dripping all night. The yard is a complete mess, nothing is taken care of or fixed. Everything is in disarray and falling apart. Wallpaper falling off walls, back deck boards laying on deck, backyard is an unkept mess. I felt like I was camping. Cobwebs everywhere including inside cabinets. Everything is worn and old. If the owners treated the place like they cared, it could be a small, cute property.

Nice little house, but

This house was perfect for our trip. The amenities were there to make it easy for us to stay, without the need to shop. The rooms were sweetly decorated, and clean. The neighborhood was tranquil and close to many restaurants and attractions. The house is small, and 6 people would not be comfortable staying there. The only negative was the couch and chair. They were so uncomfortable that you could not sit on them. I was thankful we had brought folding chairs to sit on. I would stay here again if the furniture were upgraded. It needs a good couch and a coffee table that converts to a table because there is no table other than a small fold-out TV table. There also needs to be a handrail for the front steps. You can tell they are working on it, so a minor clean-up on the property is necessary. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

This old house should just be torn down! There are safety hazards. The back deck is literally rotting away. Yard is a mess. VRBO should drop this place.

Great potential - needs a few adjustments

Nice house in nice neighborhood, conveniently located. Charming decorations and art. Ample space. Comfortable bed. Nice shower. Nice front deck. Recommended adjustments: Replace the couch! So uncomfortable. Add a small desk lamp in living room; overhead lamp is blinding. Replace broken towel rack in bathroom. Buy new, fresh towels and washcloths. They are so old and worn! Add a small dining room table in kitchen. Put WIFI connection info in email instructions. Offer CLEAN dish sponge! Replace front key-lock -- so frustrating!

Nice area. Felt safe and was quiet. While property slightly dated the place is apparently cared for. Check in and out was easy. While, the master bed mattress was kind of uncomfortable, the kids loved the bunk bed. Our family overall felt comfortable, like a second home.
