About this space
High above the town of Palisade, nestled in the foothills of the Grand Mesa, is the Rapid Creek Retreat. Surrounded by untouched public land you will experience the true gift of Colorado.
From the house’s mountain perch the views of the big sky can be enjoyed from sunrise to sunset and beyond for magical star gazing.
We planned for this home to be ours, every detail of this home was built with intent and love.
The feeling here is truly special.
We hope you enjoy it.

The space
This is a brand new house. Two main bedrooms and a bunk room. The bathroom has a beautiful large shower. There is a great patio that overlooks thousands of acres of untouched mountain. It’s all yours.

Other things to note
The driveway can be an adventure for some. It is a mountain road - a real Colorado experience. Any reasonable vehicle will make it up and down just fine but some folks may want to bring a change of underwear 😅. If that 1950s truck in the photo didn’t have a problem then your vehicle won’t either.
It’s not required, but if you have 4x4 please use it and also go slow to keep the road in good shape.
***During the winter months the road may become impassable and you may have to hike up the road to get to the house. This will be our first winter with the property and we are still sorting out the snow/snow removal situation.***

This is a really awesome place to stay. Super peaceful and beautiful setting. Wonderful house and great hosts. We would definitely stay again.

This place is a real gem in the cute little town of Palisade. The house is up a mountain, away from it all with spectacular views. We loved the back porch and views out the sliding glass doors. Kids enjoyed the hammock. Very nicely decorated and lots of kitchen tools for cooking. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Palisade vaca

Amazing views!! So quiet and peaceful yet still so close to the city. The views of the stars at night were amazing. I’d love to stay here again.

Beautiful property surrounded by just as spectacular views. Short trip into town if needed or you can enjoy nature in peace. One thing to note is the gravel road up to the house can be intimidating for those who aren't comfortable with it but it's definitely worth the trip. Would 100% recommend and would come back to stay longer in a heartbeat

This is an absolutely stunning home in a fantastic location and conveniently located to town, many hiking trails, and to Powderhorn. The home was stocked with the main essentials for cooking/baking and was beautifully decorated. The morning sunrises and star gazing at night are unremarkable. We highly recommend and looking forward to visiting again.

We loved the house. Views were incredible. We actually saw a bear cub on the gravel road to the house, so be bear aware! We did not see or hear a mama bear. A couple of suggestions to make visitors a bit more comfortable. We could not get some of the fans to work. Even after turning on the wall switch. The light came on, but not the fans. It would have been nice to have a book of some sorts with things in the area, or how things work. There was a very loud noise from the hall closet by the bathroom. It went off at night for some reason. But we thought maybe water heater? It was loud enough to wake us up. Hammock and patio furniture cushions are torn from the sun, could be replaced? Maybe suggest from the hot sun put in house on departure?The back bedroom bed was extremely hard, like sleeping on a box spring. 1 bathroom was not enough for 5 adults. We should have thought of that when booking. No communication on what we should do at checkout. So we did what we thought would help the cleaners.Overall, house was amazing and I would stay again depending on who was with us. We got some amazing photos. We had a 4 wheel drive and in some spots on the road to the house it was still difficult to get over, but that was part of the charm as to where we were staying.
