No Kitchen, but Overwhelming Deoderizer
Read the fine print. The property says “kitchenette”. You have to dig deeper into the details to find it has no sink. You have to use the sink in the bathroom off the bedroom for water, dishwashing, etc. And the hosts know they’re being disingenuous. In the welcome email, along with the check-in instructions, they noted, unsolicited, that there was no kitchen. While in the property description, they call it a “kitchenette”, in the welcome email they note they offer “some conveniences.” If you prefer VRBO because you like to cook for yourself, at this property, you get a small microwave, a toaster and a mini fridge. Just be advised.
Further, the hosts use some industrial strength cleanser and/or deodorizer that is overwhelming. We almost succumbed just walking in. We tried opening doors to air it out, but the smell was too overpowering. We tried to contact the hosts but got no immediate response. We went out to dinner, and after an hour and a half of not hearing from them, we made a reservation at a local hotel. When the host finally got back to us, they complained that we didn’t give them a chance to make it right, and that they were just down there and it was fine. When I tried to reiterate that the smell was intolerable, the host said ”I’m not continuing this conversation” and hung up. So, no refund. We paid the full amount and got nothing. They didn’t even offer to refund the cleaning fee. VRBO was no help either - not even an offer to refund their fee.
