Making memories at Katmandunes vacation rental

Great Location and Beautiful Views!

Property is located in a perfect spot. The views are amazing. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely be back.

Location of the home and outdoor space facing the beach is great. Didn’t use the hot tub. Grill appeared clean. Overall layout of the home is good, and there were plenty of beach supplies available (chairs, floaties, etc.). Kitchen is nicely stocked. Unfortunately, there were several cleanliness and maintenance disappointments. The baseboards throughout the home were extremely dirty, and the living room ceiling fan had significant black buildup on the blades. Kitchen table was poorly painted and had hair trapped in the dried paint, which was off-putting. Two of the kitchen cabinets where dishes are stored were disgusting. Faucet in the main-floor bathroom shower is broken and poorly repaired. Showering in the master bathroom was uncomfortable due to the large window in it facing the road. There is somewhat opaque "privacy film" installed but after dark clearly allows the silhouette of someone showering to be seen from the road, neighboring homes, and restaurant across the street. There were also safety concerns around the covered carport as I stepped on a rusty screw while barefoot (I should have had shoes on), and also found a large nail; both could have easily punctured a car tire. Overall, the home has a great location, nice layout, and appealing outdoor space with beautiful sunrise views, but the cleanliness, bathroom maintenance, bath privacy issue, and debris around the carport need attention. I would return to this property if I knew all these issues were resolved.

Perfect Piece of Paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I've had the Outer Banks on my travel bucket list for a long time, but it always got pushed down the list for various reasons. When I finally got serious about making it happen, I was pleased to find this beautiful home thru ABnB/Carolina Shores. It fit all my criteria: beachfront location, well-maintained, plenty of space to spread out, big deck, great bedrooms/bathrooms, awesome views, pet-friendly and close proximity to all that I wanted to explore on the Outer Banks. The hot tub and additional porches off the upstairs bedrooms were a bonus. The Carolina Shores' staff we dealt with for reservations & check-in, etc. were friendly and helpful. We will definitely consider them again when we return in the future.

Beach house getaway

Great time at this beach house for our family of 7 including kids and grandparents. Well stocked kitchen, BEAUTIFUL views of the water. Management company was great to work with.

Wonderful

My (now) wife and I stayed here with family after getting married a short distance away on the Kitty Hawk Pier - and Katmandunes was nothing short of spectacular! Check-in was easy, folks are friendly, and the house had everything we needed and wanted to have a relaxing week after a dizzying few days. We love this house and especially the spacious deck for hanging out and watching the sunrise.

July beach trip 2025

The beach is not difficult to get to so many homes I have rented in the past have said oceanfront and you feel like you have to walk a football field to get there or climb over dunes. You do not do this here. Home is well maintained. I guess if I had one complaint, I paid for early check-in and it was not ready at 1:00 we waited till about 2:30 but with that being said, I’ve already pre-registered for next year love it!! 😊

We probably spent most of our time sitting on the deck or the beach and both were easy given the setup of the house. Any amenity we needed was there and easy to access. The inside of the house was very nice and easy to keep that way. My only minor feedback would be to adjust the type of deadbolts used on the back doors. Weather is probably hard on those doors and it was more difficult than it should have been to lock. Very minor concern. We loved it and will book again for next year.

Another great Thanksgiving at Katmandunes!

We love the views of the beach through the large windows and really can’t get much closer to the ocean. It is perfect for our three generation family from a two year old to the grandparents. We enjoyed the hot tub while listening to the surf. Since this is our third time staying at Katmandunes,we enjoy seeing the improvements made each year. This year we were greeted by new stairs and porch on the street side. We would recommend this beach house and enjoy the close proximity to restaurants and grocery stores.

It is exactly as Advertised and Carolina Shores property management staff are courteous and helpful. The house sits right across the street from the Rundown Cafe, one of the best restaurants on the ONX, and it’s minutes away to other great eating spots. And, did I say Duck Donuts is right across the street as well?!

Stunning views, love the outdoor furniture, cant say enough!! THE only reason were not renting again is because we always come for the 4th of July, so were going to try to get a place closer to the Avalon pier. Carolina Shores is probably the best rental Co. I've ever used in OBX & believe me I've used a lot of them.

Wonderful floor plan - watch the sunrise by turning over in bed - these moments are indescribable for beach lovers young and old. Spacious living, comfortable furniture, luxurious hot tub - only advice would be to spray for bugs because there were a few unwelcome pests downstairs. Otherwise, we had a dream spring break vacation!

Another great stay at Katmandunes

Reviewer Comments: We spent our second Thanksgiving week at Katmandunes with our family, which included their two dogs and of course our toddler granddaughter! The house was perfect for all of us. We cooked all of our food while there,except for one night. We really could not all fit in the kitchen at once, but with our daughter in law’s scheduling skills, we all took turns in cooking and cleanup. The beds were comfortable and we were pleased with the addition of curtains on the upstairs bedrooms. There was a significant maintenance issue but the rental office handeled it quickly that same day. We like being able to be so close to the beach and look forward to spending another Thanksgiving there next year.

KH5205- KATMANDUNES

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First the pictures are very misleading. Second the place was nasty (bathrooms, shower doors, etc). Kitchen stove not clean inside.. Trash all around and under the property. Front steps and porch not save (needs replacement). Bedroom door to outside dead bolts not working. The place next door and the two beside it is much newer, clean and half the price.
