We stayed for an August weekend. Great location. Rooms as advertised. The listing said checkin was 3. We asked for 2:30 checkin and it was approved. When we arrived at 2:30 the cleaner was there and reported checkin is typically 4 and he was not told about early checkin. It was not a huge deal. Beach wagon much appreciated. Communication with owner was slow but eventually we got questions answered.

The hosts were very helpful and quick to respond. The walk to Main Street/beach is a bit more than what I would call “steps,” but definitely walkable. The inside of the property was wonderful; clean, comfortable, and spacious. There were plenty of dishes available, newer appliances, and the AC worked wonderfully. Even with 9 people we always had plenty of hot water. The outside could be better. The deck is in need of repair and the outdoor furniture has seen better days. There was no outside garbage receptacle, and it seems guests have been piling garbage in the garage due to having no other available options. This really needs to be addressed.

Great location, however the cleanliness was not acceptable. It has a lot of potential as a rental, but the dampness of woods and trees surrounding the property cause many issues. The deck was dirty from trees and the grill we planned on using for dinner was so gross we decided to eat out. The interior has a nice space for a party of 10, but again, I was disappointed by the cleanliness of the interior. Base boards, big cob webs, lots of spiders, dirty showers, etc. were hard to ignore. Again, the property was in a nice location with good amount of space for a large group, but a professional scale ing service needs to do a complete overhaul of the space and the owners should take some trees out to get some air flow throughout. Paying for a cleaning fee for this place seems counterintuitive. I would love to see them succeed, but some major changes need to happen soon.

So sorry that you were unhappy with your experience. We usually get very high marks for cleaning and cobwebs definitely form in a place that’s tucked in the woods. I wish you would let me know while you were there and we would’ve come in and made sure our maintenance people amended it for your stay.

Great Find

The house is very spacious, updated and clean. We really enjoyed this property, and its location is fantastic for both Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake.

WARNING!! HORRIBLE Host & FILTHY House!! From the top:-Wrong directions to get into the home.-No A/C-Most windows do not open (broken handles)-Strong musty smelly finished basement-Broken fans-Broken toaster-Missing window screens-Dishes, cups and refrigerator filthy-Stains in master bedroom floors-POOP/URINE STAINS ON BED SHEETS!!-Contacted host about getting into property due to inaccurate entry directions. Replied fairly quick.-Contacted host about broken fans. Was told cleaning crew is far away and for me to get them. This was after many hours went by and I had to reach out to find out they were going to do nothing.-Contacted VRBO after my stay and the host lied to them by saying they were going to order fans by Amazon. Lies.This property is not well maintained. Cleaning crew doesn’t clean well either. Treated like a party house. Totally gross!!

No screens.
