Shorty's Place in Lunenburg

Old Town Lunenburg is one of only two urban communities in North America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Seventy percent of the original colonial buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries continue to greet visitors with their colourful façades.

The space
After being ambassadors at The Breakwater Inn in Peggy’s Cove, N.S., Shorty and the Missus moved to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and are pleased to welcome you to their 200-year-old Cape Cod-type home.
Shorty’s place has a nautical theme, with Nova Scotia’s South Shore in mind.
Recently renovated to accommodate 7 people with 2 bedrooms upstairs, featuring a large master bedroom with a queen-size bed, the second room offers a double and single bed with a futon in the living room that sleeps two adults. All our pillows have memory foam GelCool applications. Our kitchen has all the amenities, and our large bathroom includes a bath, shower, and washer and dryer. Our Pergola on the back deck will cast enough light shade to make even a warm day enjoyable.
Shorty's Suite is a separate studio attached to the main house. It has a locked door to separate both sides. A larger group could choose to rent both sides.
Guest access
The main house has a kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom on the main floor, and two bedrooms on the second floor. The guests also have access to the balcony in a private backyard and a driveway with parking for two vehicles.
Other things to note
Because we offer a washer and dryer and extra bed linen and towels, we do not offer cleaning services for guests during their reservations.

It was a beautiful home on a lovely property. Close to all amenities. The property was clean and very well maintained and the host was informative and handled all questions promptly. It was a great location and would highly recommend it for a stay by a group or a family.

Very clean old house. Suited the vibe of Lunenburg perfectly. Lots of room for the family. We had a small hiccup with the door code, but the host responded promptly and fixed the issue.

What a lovely spot to spend a couple of nights in Lunenburg. The photos online really don’t do this house justice….it’s so much bigger than the online photos sugggest. It was very clean and well equipped with kitchen utensils etc, and bathroom supplies (shampoo, soaps etc). What a bonus to have a washer & dryer on hand!!! Plus the fact that our sweet doggo was welcome was excellent. I would 100% recommend staying at Shorty’s Place if you find yourself in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

It was a lovely spacious place. Some issues getting in but appreciated a well stocked kitchen and good space options. Great laundry facilities. Suggestions: better lighting in the dining room. It was so dark as to be unusable. No notes on heating, fireplace etc which would have been helpful and saved time. Good local pamphlets but a one-page on where to get groceries, etc would be nice.

We had a great stay at Shorty’s Place. There are little details in the decorating everywhere to make you feel like you are staying in an old fisherman’s house. The house is very charming! There ended up being a planned power outage during our stay that ran for 10 hours, but the house comes equipped with a Generac which was an amazing feature and very useful. The kitchen has all the basics that you need to cook, and the bathroom is spacious. The washer and dryer are a big bonus, and the bedrooms were large and comfortable. The location is good, though on a busy road. The traffic noise did not bother us though. The host and the property manager were both very friendly and helpful! Thanks for a great stay!

What a gem of a place! Very authentically East Coast style with so much character. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer because it truly is set up like a cozy little home where you could relax and read a book or play a game. We loved recharging on the lovely deck. The location is ideal. We walked the 20 mins or so into town because parking can be difficult there if at peak hours. The hill to and from town is minimal compared to the hills in town.

My husband, daughter, son in law and I stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. It has a very well stocked kitchen and bathroom (the bathroom was huge!) And the back deck was perfect for our morning coffees. The air-conditioning was a window unit in one bedroom upstairs but there were ceiling fans and we opened windows and we stayed comfortable. We walked to the waterfront and it was a lovely walk. It took us about 15 minutes. The staircase to the bedrooms is quite steep so probably not a good choice for someone with mobility issues. FYI, there was no restaurant delivery available on Sunday. We would definitely recommend.
