Amazing Sunsets and Views 3 Minutes Outside Lake Placid

This 1800 sq ft home was built by my father in the late 60's. Both of my parents have passed away and after a bad experience renting it long term, my husband, kids and myself decided to gut it right out to the outer walls and start over again. It has been over a two year process. We finished it Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 It is located 5 miles from the trail heads to many of the Adirondack High Peaks. It also only a 3 minute drive from Lake Placid. It faces the west and is a sunset heaven. It also has awesome views of the Adirondacks from the bottom of the driveway. This property sleeps 6 and that number includes children and infants. Sorry, no pets.

Extremely clean and convenient for us with small kids and hiking ADK. All amenities were excellent. Hosts were very friendly and close by. Absolutely will stay here for our next visit to ADK.

This property exceeded our expectations- the photos don't do it justice. When I say spotless, I mean absolutely spotless. The owners obviously take a lot of pride in this home. There wasn't a single thing lacking- they make sure that guests have everything they need along with clear directions and expectations. Top quality everything- bedding, appliances, etc. And if you are looking for a breathtaking view of the High Peaks right outside your front door, this is your spot. Close enough to the Village to enjoy everything it has to offer, while allowing you to come back to the peace & quiet of nature after. We couldn't be happier with our stay.

Wonderful cabin

Great location for hiking and exploring the area. The cabin was spacious, with really comfortable beds and bedrooms and lots of room in the living area to relax and have group meals. Very memorable.

Beautiful and historic gem!

Really enjoyed staying at the Old Wheel. The whole family loved the aesthetic especially the loft. Great place to easily visit the Adirondack Loj and Lake Placid. Will definitely stay here again when we visit lake placid!

My sons and I had an amazing time staying at this beautiful renovated property! I highly recommend it! It's 4 miles from Lake Placid and Mirror Lake, hiking trails, skiing, great restaurants, etc. Next time we are up in the Lake Placid area we will be staying here again. Beautiful property with lots of privacy.

Great getaway for explorers

Great location near hiking and landmarks. Minutes drive from town. Cozy cabin with great history. Kids had a blast in the forest room with a loft bed.

Fantastic for an ADK getaway

Lovely house, super clean lots of extra touches. We appreciated the holiday decorations very much. Communication was fantastic. Location is perfect and the views are amazing.

Perfect cabin for our hiking adventures

Property was very clean and well stocked. Everything you need is in the cabin. The new gas fireplace was awesome.

Cozy Cabin

The cabin is classic Adirondack and provided lots of space for for us to spread out and relax. The location is perfect for hikers whom wish to be at the “hub” of numerous trails yet only a short drive to Lake Placid where we had the choice of many good restaurants to grab a hearty meal to recharge our batteries after a day of hiking.

Great stay!!!

Loved this cabin!! It was so beautiful and rustic. Charming all around! Close to many places for hiking and watching the sunset on the LOJ road right next to the cabin. There was road noise but that did not take away from the experience! Thank you so much for the lovely stay!

Have lived in Lake Placid all my life. I own a bed and breakfast inside the village. When my work load lets up, I like to hike or ski and a good book is a great way to relax.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

The property this house sits on have been in my family since 1866. I lived inside Lake Placid until I was 15 when we moved into this house. I love coming out of my driveway and seeing the different moods of the mountains and the sunsets.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

The area is very quiet, beautiful and as i have mentioned above you can never get enough of the sunsets. Plus even though it is 3 miles out of town it is not that far from all the local activities.
