Lake Michigan Sand Beach & Wooded Privacy

Located just east of Oostburg, Wisconsin beach and lake front home is a place to enjoy the seasons of Lake Michigan. You have your own 200 foot 'singing sand' beach. Home is located on a private road among native stands of hemlock and pine trees. The property has historically been known as 'The Clearing'. Lake Michigan in 2022 was at highwater levels which resulted in the sand beach being minimal for much of that season. The beach is back as the picture of December 2024 shows! Should be a great season on the beach at the Clearing!

This Non-Smoking home sleeps six. The dominant windows bring the outside in throughout the house. Additional amenities include wood burning stove, beach campfire site, dining area overlooks the lake, sunroom and cove rooms for coffee and quiet time overlooking the lake. Extra cabin in the rear has electricity, another two twin beds, and wood burning stove. This extra cabin provides a quiet place to get away from others or fun for the kids to hang out in.

Area Information: 43 miles north of downtown Milwaukee via I-43 and ten miles south of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Nearby attractions begin with golfing (Blackwolf Run Courses, The Irish, Whistling Straits - site of PGA August 2004/2010/2015, 2007 US Senior Open & Ryder Cup 2021, The Bull, The Bog, and others). Variety of shopping is available with Kohler, Cedarburg, Sheboygan riverfront, and antique shops throughout the vicinity. Motor sports at Road America at Elkhart Lake. Bike trail access is within four miles in Oostburg. Daily fee access to public boat launch facility is six miles south. Nearby state parks of Kohler Andre and Harrington Beach provide further samplings of the area’s natural beauty. Casual and fine dining is available in Oostburg, Kohler and Sheboygan. Milwaukee area is home to many major events and attractions with less than an hour’s drive.

I really enjoyed my time at the cabin. I felt like I stepped back into my childhood with the decor and the style of the cabin. The hammock was a huge part of my time when I was there. My husband also loved the place. He enjoyed walking our two dogs along the gorgeous shoreline. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

This house is spacious and full of light, thanks to the nearly floor to ceiling windows facing Lake Michigan, which is just feet away. It was super clean - not a single bug, spider web, or even speck of sand anywhere. Lots of comfy furniture including the beds. The host was quick to respond to our question about the wood burning stove. It’s a 10 out of 10 rental!
With steaming coffee mugs in hand, we enjoyed sunrises like this over Lake Michigan from the front deck.

Amazing place

More than I expected!

I would highly recommend this property. The views are stunning. Lots of seating inside and out to enjoy beautiful surroundings. Perfect for a family or a group of friends.

Quiet weekend getaway

My husband and I with our dog, June couldn't have asked for a more perfect accommodation. The weather, on the other hand , could have cooperated more. We would love to come back again when we can enjoy the water and the beach more... but the scenery was ideal for hiking. Plan to return!

Cabin with a VIEW!

The cabin was perfectly nestled on a quiet gravel road on the shore of Lake Michigan. Clean, rustic and full of surprises. The kids loved exploring the home, property, woods and of course the star of the show…the beach. The view of the lake and sound of the surf makes me happy. Great fall weekend getaway although we would have loved to stay longer.

Peaceful vacation, close to everything

Clean, cozy, thoughtfully appointed, quiet, peaceful describe this cottage. Happy we were able to bring both my mom (88 yr young) and her cavapoo. We ALL swam in the lake...the sandbars are close to shore. Shopped a few times. The local Piggly Wiggly was close. But we also ventured to Sheboygan for swimsuits and to visit the impressive Miesfeld's meat market, and Rupp's supper club in Cleveland (just north of Sheboygan). Hope to visit again in the near future.

Another Great Stay!

We love this property - the lot, the lake, the area, and the small businesses. It's great to be just a few steps from the lake, but also be on a beautiful wooded lot. (FYI-the flies do bite on some days. We found Ranger Ready to work!) The amount of beach varies each day, but it was always fun to get in the water. Bring fans! The nights are mostly cool, but can get stuffy if temps are high. Venture into nearby towns to visit some of the small businesses. They're great!

Absolute perfection

The clearing proved itself to be the perfect spot to gather with my parents so they could spend time with my children. Driving up to the property is a literal wooded oasis. Stepping out of your vehicle you can hear the waves crashing onto the beach at the front of the house. The beach is just wonderful, we spent *almost* every waking moment on the beach. We took many beach walks, built lots of castles and rode some waves. The cottage itself is so very cool from the old windows and hardwood floors to the amazing picturesque views from almost every room. This place is the quintessential midwestern family vacation spot…think Chevy Chase movie circa 1980s…absolute perfection!

Great cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It has a rustic feel, and yet it has modern amenities. We loved the sound of the waves rolling in on Lake Michigan, and just sitting and watching the lake was so relaxing. One thing that we really appreciated was having a box of tissues in almost every room. This was a blessing for our seasonal allergies. We were happy to find a small crockpot in the kitchen because we forgot to bring ours. One caution for senior citizens such as myself who have some trouble with stairs. There are two short staircases. Since they are short it wasn’t a big problem for me. My sister is in much better physical condition and she had no problem with the stairs. In fact, she enjoyed walking our little dog around the area. All things considered, we had a totally enjoyable stay at this cabin.
