We had our family reunion here for a group of 11. Kids loved it, we had amazing sunset views and endless swimming. Kitchen was well appointed. Lots of towels and supplies. Hosts were lovely. We had a great time kayaking and paddle boarding off the dock.

Wonderful house in a great setting. Everyone had a blast. One nephew was a little disappointed that the sauna wasn’t working quite right. For myself, I could’ve used a hand-rail to grab at the steps of the pool but I was the only one who needed it. But other than that, it was perfect and we hope to return one day.

The house was beautifully maintained, an excellent space for a large family vacation. Plenty of space to gather, while also having plenty of space to separate and relax peacefully. The pool, hot tub and sauna were exactly as described. The kids were in the pool for most of the stay. Kayaks and paddle boards were in great condition with a boat ramp to walk them right into the water. Brand new grill that we put to use a couple of times. Capped off the week with a whole family firepit hang. Overall, incredible property. The owner, Yvonne, was very responsive, responding to questions within minutes. Check in and check out were smooth. Have absolutely nothing negative to say about the week, just an all around great experience.

House was immaculate indoors, aside from the insect critter here and there that you likely cannot keep out or away in this environment. We also arrived a couple of days before the pool cleaners did their weekly round, so it would’ve worked better for our group if we arrived right after or same day as that clean (ie, more of our guests would’ve enjoyed the pool/pool area earlier). These observations, of course, are geared toward bug-phobia persons in our group. Otherwise, all was amazing. DoorDash and others made deliveries, which was super convenient! Most importantly, the host is extremely responsive and helpful. We’ll certainly consider Richard’s Retreat first in the future if we find ourselves back around the area.

One of the most amazing properties we have stayed in. If you are looking for a incredible, relaxing staycation, this house has it all: cleanliness, space to spread out, activities inside and outside, great kitchen, VIEWS, high-end linens, amazing communication with owner, history!

AMAZING!!!

Our stay at Richard's Retreat was the stay of a lifetime. Everything was perfection: the fabulous indoor pool and hot tub, the comfortable beds, the serene decor, the beautiful location and amenities. We loved everything about this beautiful location. Thank you!!

Beautiful home!

We had a great time at Richard’s Retreat. The house had amazing views of the water. It was also very spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the indoor pool and hut tub, and the pool table and bar area were great too. The owners were also very responsive and pleasant to work with. Highly recommend this place!

Team Durant Girl’s Basketball Team Retreat

Yvonne's place was perfect for our basketball team retreat! The house was beautiful, private, and had plenty of space with 7 bedrooms. The highlight was definitely the amazing indoor pool. Yvonne was a very responsive host who made sure our stay was enjoyable. We highly recommend this beautiful and very spacious location!

We brought 14 family members together from all over the country for our Fourth of July weekend, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we made memories that we’ll be talking about for years.The property is absolutely stunning. The home is beautiful, spacious, impeccably maintained, and had everything we needed for a large family gathering. The pool was an absolute hit with both the kids and adults—we spent countless hours swimming, laughing, and enjoying every minute together.What truly set this experience apart, though, was our host. The communication was phenomenal from start to finish. Every question was answered quickly, kindly, and thoughtfully. When we encountered an unexpected issue completely outside of anyone’s control, our host went above and beyond to help us. The level of care, compassion, and genuine concern shown to our family is something we will truly never forget.This wasn’t just a vacation—it became a weekend full of laughter, quality time, traditions, and unforgettable memories with the people we love most. We honestly enjoyed every single second we were there.If you’re considering booking this property, don’t hesitate. You won’t find a more beautiful property or a more incredible host. Beautiful home and views with lovely pool and accomodations

We had such a wonderful time at Richard’s Retreat. They went out of their way to make my Godson feel special for his 6th bday. I explained that I was renting the home as a getaway for him to enjoy time with family and friends and that he had just lost both of his parents. They were sweet to then setup outdoor 6 year old bday decor and also leave spiderman balloons and gift bags inside for us. The pool was so much fun for the kids and there was so much space in the home. They were very responsive as well to any inquiries. The sunset is so incredible and it’s nice to play outside and grill. We will definitely try to come back in the future!

Family Reunion

We have a large family, so large that we just don’t fit in anyone’s house anymore. Richard’s Retreat was everything we could have wanted. The remote location is beautiful and on the water with a dock, paddle boards and 2 patios. But if you’re not looking to spend time outside, hop in the indoor pool or sauna. With such a big house and big group of people there are bound to be questions or hiccups. Yvonne was very responsive and answered all of our questions quickly. It is a remote location, A store 3 miles away could take 20 minutes (one way). I loved the privacy and would stay here again.

From hot chocolate and s’mores down by the fire to swimming in the pool where it feels like a tropical paradise, this house had everything we needed to make lifelong family memories. The secluded location, expansive property, beautiful views, and unique amenities made this house a place we could enjoy our entire vacation without ever leaving the property.We visited in the fall when the leaves were changing and the scenery was just beautiful, but I can only imagine how magical summers must be here.We played football in the backyard, enjoyed the game room in the evenings, and swam in the pool nightly and daily. The kitchen had everything we needed to make big family meals and the dining room accommodated all of us. The pictures don’t do this house justice. It is meticulously cared for. The decor is beautiful. Everything is fresh, clean and new.There are water views in almost every direction. We watched morning sunrises and nightly sunsets. In one direction we could see nothing but nature, in another direction we saw houses, boats, and marinas. And in another direction we could watch trains going over a bridge in the distance. The host is gracious and generous. She ensured that we had everything we needed and we could tell that it was very important that we enjoy the home. She was always responsive and helpful.We have stayed in quite a few vacation rentals, and while we have liked them all, there was something special about this one.

Perfect Family Gathering Spot in a Peaceful Waterfront Location

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful waterfront home for a family funeral, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The house was spacious and beautifully decorated, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere. With plenty of room for our group of 9, we felt right at home. The large kitchen was perfect for family meals, and the open living areas allowed us to gather comfortably and share memories together. One of the highlights of our stay was the fantastic indoor pool and hot tub. The private, quiet location was ideal for our family, offering a peaceful retreat during a difficult time. The home is also conveniently close to Quantico National Cemetery, making it a perfect place to stay for families attending services there. The views were absolutely stunning—watching the sunrises and sunsets over the water was a true highlight, and we even spotted bald eagles soaring overhead. It felt like a serene and tranquil escape, which was exactly what we needed. The host was incredibly accommodating and easy to work with, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. We truly appreciated how well the house was equipped and the attention to detail in making it a welcoming space for families. Overall, this waterfront home provided the perfect setting for our family to come together during a difficult time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
