Located in the heart of North Georgia this hand built and lovingly remodeled authentic log cabin is the home of your perfect Appalachian getaway. Whether you're looking for adventure, romance, or just a peaceful escape, Sun Oak Cabin is the place for you.

As soon you walk in, you will see warm wood accents, a modern kitchen with a copper sink, Corian counters, a Keurig and all the amenities. We kept you in mind when we completely updated the bathrooms with tile, teak, and a rain shower with massage jets. Our queen size beds are so comfy you will want to sleep in. There is also a queen size folding wooden bed frame and trifold memory foam mattress in the living room, in case you'd rather not sleep with your grandma, and a twin daybed in the loft. There is little to no "ruffing it" at Sun Oak Cabin. For the romantics, the remote controlled gas fireplace and general ambiance will lend to the perfect evening. You can enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine from the wine rack. For the sports fan, we have a 65" flat-screen smart TV with the sports package, so you'll never miss a game. Or just log into your Netflix account to laze away the day. We also have a fire pit for the kids (and kids at heart) to roast marshmallows. For adventurers, hike down to the creek, play in the water and explore our 4 acres!

Sun Oak Cabin is close to many of the local attractions, yet serene and secluded. Watch deer, turkey, and other wildlife from the comfy Amish outdoor furniture on the covered porch. Or head out to the pavilion and cook up a whole meal on the Blackstone griddle, while family hangout with you at the picnic table, the lounge seating and on the porch swing. If it's warm, turn on the cooling fans to stay breezy. Edison string lights will give your evenings outside a festive air. We've tried to think of everything to make the perfect mountain vacation experience, now all that is needed is you!

Log cabin with lots of extras

The log cabin and the grounds are really well done. All the metal art was was beautiful and unexpected. We will return.

The perfect cozy getaway

My husband and I absolutely love this beautiful cabin! It was decorated so beautifully for Christmas! We loved all the lovely wood throughout. And loved the heavy wood interior doors with slide locks. Very unique! They had plenty of towels and comfy bed linens. Loved the comfy furniture to. And the gas fireplace was very relaxing and cozy. Kitchen had everything we needed. And loved the copper sink. The property was wooded but still had a mountain view. We saw a family of 6 deer on the grounds. We had no issues with check in or anything during our stay. We took a day trip to Dalonagha only an hour away. And we shopped in Blairsville as well. We are definitely going to book this cabin again in the future. And definitely at Christmas time again. Maybe we will see snow next Christmas! Great cabin!

This is a wonderful place to kick back and relax. It is very clean and comfortable. Wifi works great and is lightning fast. The pavilion out back is really nice. We enjoyed grilling on the Blackstone griddle and playing cornhole. It was too hot in July for the campfire or fireplace, but both should be lots of fun in the right weather. Host has all sorts of campfire tools set out and lots of wood. Location is perfect. This cabin does not have some of the "toys" like we used to book when our kids were young and with us, so no hot tub or game room or mountain views, but if you are just looking for a clean and comfortable cabin in a great spot, this is for you. Besides, mountain views are all over the place in the area, and there are plenty of waterfalls to visit nearby as well. The cabin itself is superior to the ones with all the frills we have booked in previous years. Host is very responsive, and it was a tremendous cost/value for this type of property! I highly recommend!

Quilting, Crafting, Reading, RELAXATION!!

Everything was wonderful. The Cabin was Very well apportioned. The hosts had thought of everything we might need, and it was there! Inside and outside was clean, comfortable, and welcoming! Jim's Smoking Que is Right there, a Great Quilt shop right in town, Vincent's Coppertop restaurant was also fantastic. I would highly recommend this Wonderful Cabin, and it is even handicapped accessible.

Beautiful outside spaces. You can relax on the porch or enjoy activities in the covered pavilion. Overall everything is as advertised.

Beautiful and quiet place

This place was perfect y'all of us. Pictures are definitely accurate of this home. Outside area was nice with fire pit and huge covered pavilion.

Amazing rental!

We just loved everything about this home and property! The personal touches everywhere we looked made our stay so enjoyable. We loved spending time in the pavilion below the property and on the gorgeous deck in the rockers. We will definitely rent this property again if we have the chance to come back ❤️

Beautiful cabin

Good location. Cabin was everything I was looking for. Kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable, and living room was cozy. Would stay there again for sure!!

Never Disappointed

This is by far our favorite cabin we have ever stayed at! This was our 3rd time there and it has never disappointed us. Tina has thought of everything! We loved the new living room furniture - it was very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked any we loved the Keurig. It’s the kind of getaway we always look forward to. Our favorite spot is definitely the front porch. Thank you Tina!

Tranquility in the trees!

This cabin is such an amazing place! The owner’s have everything you could possibly need!! Once you step in your overwhelmed with the beauty of this cabin and the views! I just was thinking of how peaceful and relaxing this beautiful cabin and property would be to live there permanently! You don’t need to bring anything because it’s got it all. The owners are very easy to get in touch with in a very timely manner! The interior is cozy and comfortable and classy! Plenty of parking and even outdoor covered spaces for grilling, playing many games they have provided plus a fire pit! You can not find any cabin that can compete with this beautiful place. We are going to be returning once there is an opening in the booking!

Blairsville Highland Games Retreat

Loved it. The cabin is rustic but with modern conveniences. Has a warm woodland cabin feel. Great deck. Very nice appliances and plenty of pots, pans and utensils. Loved the metal artwork and antiques scattered inside and outside. Amazing eagle sculpture/vane in front. Will be back.

A fabulous experience

This property met and exceeded all expectations. It was the perfect place for our family to gather for a memorial for my sister. All were thrilled. The outdoor pavilion and fire ring were perfect. It was like our own park in the backyard. All suggested we should come back again sometime for a longer stay and vacation.

Nice Getaway

This is a very nice property with a beautiful pavillion and firepit. It's a quiet and peaceful area. The beds and couches were really comfy. The kitchen had all rhe cookware needed, which was extremely nice and made things easy. We will be returning.

Simply Outstanding

I have nothing but praises for the cabin and our hosts. Beautifully decorated, thoughtfully stocked and equipped. Impeccably clean. The location was perfect for a couple of days of topnotch hiking to the top of Blood Mountain and Brass Town Bald. Everything about the cabin allowed for a beautiful, memorable time with my adult daughters before they head off to college. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic cabin!!

This was our 3rd year to stay in this cabin. We love the outdoor area along with the inside of the cabin. It is very cozy, comfy, and inviting. I would totally recommend this place to stay!

Perfectly located in Blairsville

This property has it all for entertainment or tranquility. There's a lot of extras in this beautiful home that includes high end appliances, bedding, water massage in showers and all poly porch furniture. Beware to those of us who are vertically challenged - the beds are high off the ground, but step stools are provided. I have to agree with the folks who commented on the living room sofa and chairs being a bit uncomfortable for seniors. The driveway up to the cabin is paved and did not present any issues when snow covered. The home is only a few miles from town yet perfectly located surrounded by nature. We love Blairsville and all the wonderful towns that are close by to explore: Helen, Dahlonega, Blue Ridge, and Hiawassee. Track Rock Stables has guided horseback riding trails and was found be to a highlight of our trip along with a must stop at distillery in town! Visit Crane Brook Winery, you will not be disappointed. The owner of this property is as sweet as a peach and attentive to any concerns. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this awesome home.

Lovely cabin for downtime.

This was our second time at this cabin and was still enjoyable. Was surprised to see a church next door were there used to be trees but was nice and quiet. Would love to come back again!

Anfitrión: Tina Sonen

In the Fall of 2014 Mike and Tina Sonen bought a rustic log cabin that needed a lot of TLC. But the Sonens were definitely the people for the job.

While Mike was an all around handyman, his passion was wood working. He made furniture for friends and family for the better part of three decades. A rocking chair that's been passed around his nieces and nephews as they have children, a reading bench for his mother, and an entire living room suite for Tina, are just a few of the pieces he's made. Mike's work tends to reflect the simple elegance of the Arts and Crafts style. This in turn inspired the motif for their new cabin.

Tina may not have known much about refurbishing a house when she began, but she could be called an expert now. While Mike tackled the big projects, Tina learned how to stain wood, lay and grout tile, install cabinets, and then still made lunch. She also made the cushions in the living room in her free time. Now a retired widow, Tina enjoys renting it out to vacationers to enjoy.

All in all, bringing this cabin into the twenty-first century has definitely been a family affair and everyone in the Sonen's lives pitched in at one point or another. Now they want to invite you to enjoy their hard work. Come be apart of the family and admire the loving detail that Mike and Tina included in every corner to ensure your stay would be memorable.
