OCCUPANCY LIMIT 5 - A waterfront 2 Bedroom 1 Bath on Highland Lake in Windham. Enjoy lake living while being less than 30 minutes from Portland. The cottage has an open living space with views of the lake from the living room and kitchen. Both bedrooms are on the main floor with full beds. There is also a loft with 2 twin beds. A nice-sized flat lot with a fire pit near the water. Shallow entry is great for swimming. Also enjoy the 2 kayaks provide. (GUEST BRING THEIR OWN LIFE JACKETS) DOG CONSIDERED WITH $125 FEE

We had a super relaxing time. The view is beautiful. Lake access is easy, convenient and perfect for swimming and lounging. The host also graciously offers the use of their kayaks, which we loved! The house is clean and the property is beautiful Everything we needed to disconnect and unwind. A great vacation and we will definitely be coming back!

It was an adorable little camp that feels homey. The lake is awesome and access is right there. It is the shallow end but that didnt bother us at all. That would be great for smaller kids too. We enjoyed the puzzles available. I would suggest anyone with smaller kids take some caution with some wood debris though. Teens loved the loft.

Weekend getaway

Perfect getaway for three adults. The weather cooperated so we were able to enjoy the lake and spent most of the weekend outside. The location is great and easy to access. The home is comfortable, camp style living. It could benefit from an updated living room chair, as the one there is missing any solid cushioning. The loft area is tight and not suitable for adults. Amenities are simple and neighbors are very close — albeit friendly, overall good stay and would return.

It’s exactly what I imagined when looking for a classic Maine-lake cottage. It was cozy with a great kitchen (it’s hard to find a decent-sized kitchen in a cottage). The living room was big enough to fit 2 XL dog crates and still have plenty of room. We didn’t try out all the beds, but the one we did use was very comfortable. Our family made lots of use of the kayaks and fire pit. Highland lake has incredible fishing- we reeled in lots of small and large mouth bass. The property’s little beach/dock was perfect for playing fetch with the dogs, wading in the water. The view from the cottage was beautiful and the cove very quiet. We got to see and listen to the loons and other beautiful wildlife. The cottage has a great water heater and water pressure. It’s Maine, so we can drink the water from the tap too! There is a trail system (Lowell Preserve) which was walking distance from the cottage. The dogs and I hiked 3.5 miles in there (you can mountain bike too). The location is great- it’s an easy drive to Portland and local shopping. The host was very responsive when we had a question.

Sweet lakeside getaway

Boomfish Cottage is a cozy place with everything you could need . It was clean , comfy and serene . It provided the perfect calm for us during a weekend long family wedding at nearby Caswell Flower Farm . It was also easy access for an older person ( me) as well as small children and my little ShihTzu rescue dogs . My granddaughters came by and loved catching minnows in the still warm lake. Extra bonus was enjoying the peak foliage at the lake . Eric , the property manager was very communicative and check in was easy. We all loved our stay and also the story about Boomer the dog catching pinecones instead of fish ! Lovely stay and hope to return. Thank you !

Gorgeous lake with easy access , nice shallow to wade in ( dogs, small kids), 2 kayaks and 2 Adirondacks on lake wonderful. Old and small cottage, equipped fair Great for Hubble and me with dog. Little ones can’t be too little to handle the steep ladder to loft ( twin beds up there ). Wouldn’t want to share with another couple - 2 very small bedrooms side by side. Wonderful getaway to quiet lake if drive-able, need to bring towels and bedding, need to bring life jackets, fishing pole if interested.

Clean cottage in a great spot. Kayaks included was a nice plus. Swimming area also works out great as the water is shallow for a long way from the shore. Only complaint would be the doors to the bedrooms and bathroom are a little funky and don't like to close correctly. Not really a problem if you are just traveling as a couple though. Overall, we enjoyed it and had a great time.
