Quaint, Quiet, Peaceful and Picturesque - The Getaway - An Adorable Cottage steps from a Private Maine Beach. Sitting on a Beautiful Cove, this 2-Story Cottage was meant for Seaside Relaxation and Oceanside Recreation.

Enjoy coffee and tea as you awake in the morning on The Getaway's new red cedar wrap-around deck on Beautiful and Comfortable white Adirondack Rocking Chairs with gorgeous views of the Foreside waterfront. You are steps from the beach if you want to catch the sunrise and enjoy the herons, ducks and water lapping at your footsteps! You and your family and guests can also enjoy the The new Granite Lamp-Post and Patio with Adirondack Chairs, Flowers, Mini-Gardens and Lawn with Gorgeous Views of the Pleasure Boats around and about Falmouth Foreside Harbor. Explore the Beautiful Calendar Islands of Casco Bay by Ferry. Kayak and Paddle Board about the Picturesque Foreside, Beach Activities all day long or grab an Old-Fashioned Novel from the Bookcase and Enjoy!

The theme in the smaller first bedroom with a full bed, bureau and desktop with great views is and is called The Flip-Flop Room! So bring your sandals, lay back and enjoy the views!

The larger Bedroom has a queen bed and twin bed with nautical themes and great views - perfect for that relaxing Breakfast-in-Bed! The Living Room has a queen/sofa bed and newly added white Rocking Chairs which can be pulled out onto the outdoor deck! The Dollhouse has Bunk Beds, Beach Balls, Books and a Closet full of Toys for the Kids to enjoy!

But then wait ... You may want to catch walking, jogging or biking ... On The Panoramic Foreside ... and stop by to visit the famous Town Landing Market for Maine Provisions. There you can rent kayaks, canoes and paddleboards for the beach. A mooring is available at The Getaway if you are arriving by boat or have company visiting from the Harbor!

Lobsters anyone!?! The Getaway has a large fully stocked kitchen with a microwave and dishwasher. There is seating for 6 at the sunny dining room table as well as a Kitchen Island with stools for comfort. The Island is fully stocked with paper and plastic for munching on the Beach!

There is a Weber gas grill with all utensils as well as a Weber charcoal grill for guests who must "thrill to the grill." Wood provided for beach barbecues!

WiFi, Internet, a phone and three flat screen TVs located in the kitchen, living room and master bedroom along with a Blue Ray DVD and a Sony Radio/CD player are there for your pleasure.

Portland, the new 'Foodie Capital,' just minutes away, is renowned for some of the Best Restaurants on the East Coast. Visit the Old Port where Shopping, Local Fare, Pubs and Restaurants is extremely popular. Pro Baseball (The Seadogs), Beautiful Museums,
L.L. Bean and Outlet Shopping all just minutes away from The Getaway on The Foreside.

The cottage was located In a area that made travel to see all of the cities and towns and sight seeing things we wanted to visit. We had a great time there. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation.The view from the front deck was stunning.

Friend get away

It was quiet. Short distance from the ocean parking was tight but the cottage was exactly as pictured.

We were a little disappointed that the location of the house did not give us the view that was shown in the pictures. The view we had was the side of the house next door and not the water view like the pictures. You had to go outside and down the street to get that view. It was a little deceiving. Also the seating in the living room was cramped and uncomfortable...too much stuff in one room. All in all it was too expensive for what we got. Sorry.

Perfect Maine getaway!

We had the best time during our stay. We loved the location as a jumping off point to easily get into Portland and up the coast, and then we came home in the afternoon to enjoy the beach and dinner on the deck looking out at the ocean. We would love to stay here again... for longer next time!

Cozy retreat

The house was close to the water - excellent! The host was friendly and informative. The house is old and in need of updating. In spite of this, it was cozy and comfy. We really enjoyed the stay.

Very nice Oceanview cottage with All the amenities you need. Toys, games dvds tor kids made it A good feel at home place. Everything you would need For a oceanview getaway.

Extremely disappointed. Bathroom downstairs, beds up very narrow, steep stairs. Very dusty & cluttered, no room for any personal items. Laundry in unfinished basement with cobwebs & more clutter. Only way into house up several flights of stairs. Chairs, floors falling apart. Couldn’t sleep on sofa in living room due to nasty stains, bedbugs & trash. So we purchased a blowup mattress & only stayed one night. Not a good fit for senior citizens. House needs a good cleaning & get rid of worn out furniture. We didn’t ask enough questions before booking. Will probably never use Vrbo again. Just can’t trust pics & descriptions. Only view of bay was 3rd floor or one outside chair. Great view of several houses next door & sounds of dump trucks rebuilding rock walls. Overwhelming bad experience.

Falmouth stay

Val is a great host. She contacted us several times to be sure everything was in order. We did not use it but there is a charming tiny cabin by the front door with bunk beds for kids sleepover. The location is in a quiet neighborhood but only minutes from Portland.

Pit Stop for the food!

Our stay was fabulous! Val and Jim are spot on hosts and will help you with whatever you may need. The home is perfect for a family that is ok with close quarters. All of the beds (in the home) are in ‘mostly’ the same space upstairs. The one room that could be ‘private’ needs to have the door open due to temperature and no air conditioning in the room. However, we were traveling in July. Most likely other times of the year that room would be perfect for some privacy. I will say the beds are not super comfy however everything else was clean, we were well provided for and if we needed anything Val sent Jim right over and he took care of anything that needed attention. I highly recommend this home for a small family, a close group of friends that are ok with close quarters or just a space for a beautiful respite. The beach area is fabulous for a quick ‘cold plunge’ in the ocean. You can jump off the pier at high tide and swim back to shore! It’s an experience. The local Town Landing Market is such a great spot. The employees are kind and they carry the BEST blueberries and a lovely wine selection. I LOVE THIS AREA and HOME, AND WILL BE BACK.

Great vacation spot

We had a great vacation. Beautiful spot near the water! Loved eating on deck with view of the water. The owners were super helpful with their suggestions for fun. Left us a lot of surprise goodies in the fridge. House was better stocked in supplies than any house I have ever rented. We had great vacation.

Amazing location and equally great hosts

My family loved the location of this very well provisioned home! The hosts are incredibly helpful and offered to help us with our sightseeing options. They were very accessible and responsive. The house has everything - I mean, everything! Plenty of towels, things for kids and adults alike and everything you need for a Maine lobster dinner!

Great Location and Hosts, Querky Property

We enjoyed our stay. My 86 year old parents managed the steep stairs between the uptairs bedrooms and main-floor, and only bathroom. While charming, the interior needs a refresh. Interesting caulk job around the tub. The hosts are very kind and informative. Also, they greeted us with some nice surprises.

Maine getaway

Accommodations are indeed modest, and yes, the stairs are creaky, but the house worked for our small family. Val and Jim are attentive hosts and provide anything and everything you could want or need for a trip to the Maine coast. Kayaks, paddle boards, a fully stocked kitchen, towels, beach chairs, etc.! ACs and an onsite washer and dryer were also much appreciated. Overall, we had a great time. Falmouth Foreside is conveniently located so you can take day trips up to mid-coast Maine (great whale watching in Booth Bay Harbor), visit shops in Freeport (hello LL Bean!), enjoy southern coastal beaches (Pine Point was beautiful), and explore Old Port Portland.

Cozy Maine Getaway!

We spent five nights at this cozy cottage and enjoyed every minute! We have stayed in many rental properties over the years, but Val & Jim were, by far, the most thoughtful and helpful hosts we’ve experienced. They had special treats waiting for us upon our arrival and gave great tips for places to visit. When we noticed a hole in one of the kayaks on our first day, Jim was there the same day and not only patched it, but brought us another kayak to use as well! We especially enjoyed the access to the beach and using the paddle boards, kayaks and fishing poles. It was nice having flown in to not have to worry about linens, towels, and many other toiletries- pretty much everything was provided. Thank you for your hospitality, Jim & Val!!!

While we found the house clean it was very cluttered with unnecessary stuff. Bedrooms on the 2nd floor and bathroom on the first floor. The stairs to get to the bedrooms were rather steep and narrow. The fact that the bathroom and bedrooms were not on the same floor should have been noted in the description. We would not have stayed there. The view of the small beach/water was very limited. Quite disappointing because that is why we stayed on the coast of Maine. We also saw info about a fire pit but couldn’t find it on the property. All in all, disappointing. On the plus side the house was fully equipped in the kitchen and plenty of blankets to keep us warm.

This is our primary problem with the house.

This is a house filled with character and plenty to keep you busy on rainy days. The kitchen was great with every kind of dish or pan you’d ever need. They had spices galore which was very helpful. There were plenty of ideas for visiting the area and plenty to do if it rained -games and books! The location was wonderful with a beach a few steps away. We watched a super moon rise one night and I took photos of a sunrise that was an amazing experience. The only things that were a bit tricky were the stairs upstairs and the basement was a bit dark and basement like. It was where the washer and dryer were but both worked well.

This is the cutest bayside cottage, nestled in a quiet neighborhood of beautifully appointed homes. The getaway is so relaxing, with the bay right there to get lost in its beauty and wonderful outdoor places to sit and exhale. We spent a lot of time here just breathing in the crisp fresh air & sipping coffee while listening to the gentle waves lapping, the birds chatting, the wind whispering, the brook water bubbling and the windchimes lightly playing a beachside tune. We took advantage of the kayaks, and rocking chairs quite a bit. It was so nice that we didn't want to leave. But when we did, we found it was close to everything in New England that we wanted to explore on our first time here. Lighthouse & Leaf Peeping! Inside this getaway is everything you need to feel at home. There is a fully stocked & very clean kitchen, including a bottle of wine, bottled water, spices and everything you need to cook and serve a gourmet meal or a lobster feast. The bathroom (downstairs) was very clean and had everything you need. The bedrooms (upstairs) allowed for privacy, restful sleep, and had plenty of clean linens, blankets and pillows, with the beds fully made when we arrived. The host does not expect you to wash your morning dishes or strip or make the beds before you check out, which is a nice bonus when trying to get out the door to catch a flight. The host is very easy to chat with and so nice. We will for sure stay at this lovely place if we find ourselves in Maine again.

Vintage charm, incredible location, and family friendly! Our family of 4 with kids ages 7 and 10 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close enough to Portland to explore for the day, but a world away in a quiet seaside setting. Our family enjoyed using the kayaks and SUPs, although a few smaller life jackets would have been beneficial, as well as swimming at high tide and exploring the beach for creatures and treasures at low tide. The queen bed, full bed, and twin bed are essentially in a shared space upstairs, and were adequately comfortable. There is one window AC unit upstairs and one downstairs, which kept the house sufficiently cool, in addition to available fans. We ate most meals st the house and found that the kitchen was well equipped. We also made use of the laundry in the basement. Our kids appreciated the good WiFi and board games. I enjoyed having my morning coffee on the front deck. Beers and a treat in the fridge at arrival were a nice touch! Highly recommend!

Lovely space right on the water

We loved the space! It was exactly as listed. We ended up not using the smaller space because there was no AC and the windows don't open but we enjoyed the main house. The owners clearly put a lot of thought into the amenities and we found it well stocked.

We enjoy traveling the world but still gravitate to our own little spot in Falmouth Foreside! Please join us as we make your vacation one to remember in Maine!
