D'LIGHT HOUSE is a delightful experience for you and your large family or group. This seven bedroom, five full-bath, three-floor house is located on a bay canal and only minutes walk (about 350 yds.) to the Atlantic Ocean beach. A clean and wholesome home with a sunroom, extensive decking, and two master bedrooms, you will enjoy it for sunning, quiet reading or group socializing.

A year-round house with two-zone air conditioning and heat, it also has a free-standing woodburning fireplace. Not only is this a great location for the hot summer months, it is also warm and comfy in the transitional months and winter. Especially, one can enjoy the beautiful days of Fall and Spring for a week or weekend get-away. Enjoy the warmth and spirit of the fireplace on those colder mornings and evenings.
As a golf destination there are 20 public golf courses within 25 miles, from Ocean City, Maryland to Rehoboth, Delaware. No sales tax shopping occurs in over 100 outlets and other shops. Restaurants galore, with come-as-you-are informality and ethnic to gourmet menus abound and most are open year round. A very nice home to stay!

We loved our stay at this home. The house was as described. This should be a great rental for anyone looking for a big space for a large group. The big dinning table was great, and beds were comfortable. We love the area easy walking distance to many places, including the beach. We would definitely recommend!

Wonderful location

The home was spacious with a variety of sitting areas and extra chairs and table to accommodate a larger group. Number of bathrooms was great, as was quiet location and proximity to beach. Owner was very prompt in addressing concerns.

Great visit.

Dr. Don was extremely responsive, making any requests/questions I had resolved in a timely manner. Nice house in a nice neighborhood, right on the canal. Good times were had by all.

Perfect Beach Getaway for Large Family

We had a wonderful stay at D’Light House! The house was perfect for our large family. It was a very short walk to the beach. We enjoyed big meals in the great room on the main level. We used a nice gas grill on the deck for one of our dinners. We were able to comfortably sleep the entire group. Those of us working remotely during the vacation could find quiet spaces away from others. We rented kayaks for the week and also crabbed off the dock. The host was very communicative and the property manager was immediately responsive. Thank you for a great family reunion! We will definitely return to this lovely home in South Bethany Beach.

Lots of space and a convenient location

The house was perfect for our large group of adults, with enough space for everyone/every couple to have their own bedroom and bathroom. The location is very walkable to South Bethany and the parking pass was helpful for ferrying larger items to the beach. We appreciated the grill and the outdoor shower as well. Communication was clear with Don and check-in was very easy.

We love the area easy walking distance to many places. Loved hanging out on the deck its very spacious inside. We had great beach weather. The inside was not very clean more dust than what we have experienced in other vacay rentals. But we still had a great time together. Thank you.

Our family had a very good week at this property. We were a group of nine: 6 adults and 3 children, plus a dog. There was plenty of room for us to be together at times and to have our own spaces as well. The house is about a 7-10 minute walk from Bethany Beach, which was never crowded during our stay. We were all pleased with the D'Light House.

Birthday celebration

The property was just as described and a perfect property for my husbands birthday celebration with our kids. It had a great room large enough for all o us to hang out together and we loved the many decks. The neighborhood was quiet and beautiful to walk to the beach or many parks. We would recommend this property and will return. The owner was a wonderful man and very helpful.

Great Home needs some TLC

Don's home is a great house in a super location. We met Don and he is so nice. It is an older home with older kitchen cabinets, furniture, etc. Mattresses were comfortable. AC was incredible. Sofas were newer and comfy but needed some cleaning attention. Bathrooms need to be updated. Towel bars, soap dishes and toothbrush holders were loose and in need of repair. The biggest suggestion I have, and I spoke personally to Don about this - is to declutter and get rid of personal items in the home. I would stay here again. The home also needs a deep cleaning. Don's home is a good value and pet friendly.

Always wonderful!

This was our fourth year at the D'Light House and we were once again delighted! Our large family of 16 slept comfortably in the 7 large bedrooms and the 7 grandchildren had plenty of room to play. Our granddaughters were thrilled with the new bunk beds and the new granite countertops and new great room flooring are lovely! Dr. Don is a wonderful host. We are already looking forward to next year!

Totally D'lightful

We had a wonderful time in your home! It was a wonderful way prepare for a family wedding. More than enough room and bathrooms to get ready.The kitchen was well supplied and lot of seating for everyone. The step to the stairs broke when we got there and Dr.Dillon immediately was there to assess the situation and repair the step. My 87 yr.old mother loved the spiral staircase and felt safe in using them. So everyone is different! Would definitely stay again if we are in the neighborhood.

Rundown Property Needs A Lot of Work

The property is located in an excellent location close to the bay and the beach. The house has a lot of space and a lot of bedrooms. The issue is that the house needs to be torn down and rebuilt. There is a significant amount of projects needed around the house to include insect removal, mold removal, replacing simple things like the soap holders in the bathrooms and racks for towels. Everything is falling apart. The lower part of the house is connected to the top part only via a very narrow spiral staircase. I would not recommend small children in this area. That lower deck is absolutely lovely, but the upper deck is also falling apart with major amount of projects needed. In short, I would never recommend staying in this location and we should receive a significant discount for staying there and paying what we paid.

wonderful week

Great location....easy walk to beach, side streets for strolls/bikes and walked to a few restaurants! Just over a 1.7 mile walk to Boardwalk so we didn't do that much because kids started to complain. Area is quiet and quaint and we were able to use our kayaks on the canal to the river, fun! Plenty of bathrooms and beds for all 16 of us comfortably. Spiral staircase (most used since it's the only one in the house from main floor to lower level) is very narrow. We enjoyed the lower deck most in the a.m., only because mosquitos and bugs definitely after dark. It was a great week for us to kick off summer! Thanks Dr. Don!

Nice house Not very clean

We had 14 people in this big house for our daughter’s wedding. We enjoyed the location, easy beach access, large parking area, the number of rooms and bathrooms and large common area, but the house was not very clean. I think the owner needs to hire a new cleaning crew. The ground floor was dusty and smelled like air freshener trying to cover up cat odor, one of the mattress covers had a blood stain on it and there was a lot of trash under the beds and had not been vacuumed. The bathrooms were not very clean either, there was hair in the sinks, a towel bar was broken on the main floor, too. The owner said that the cleaning team would be in touch with us but they never called. Also, we have stayed in lots of rentals and they always provide you with some toilet paper and paper towels to start you out, but this property expects you to get all that, so we arrived and first thing had to go out and buy toilet paper -be forewarned! And to top it off, the Owner had a long list of rules and even asked that we water his outside plants! So, in summary, we liked the house but would not rent it again. Sorry!

Underwhelmed.

The house needed to be cleaned. They don't even provide fitted sheets for beds or pillowcases. The refrigerator was off, and I tried reaching out to the property manager he/she would not pick up my calls and barely answered my text messages on how to find the electrical panel to try to turn the refrigerator on. The only response I got from him/her was "I will check early tomorrow morning." I sent this text early enough in the day for him/her to try to help me resolve the issue. The kitchen stove does not work properly as well. Cooking was very difficult as the heat would turn low frequently. The internet does not work at all. We had to use our cellular hotspot the whole weekend. There were too many things going wrong to be paying for the price it is. This house has a lot of potential to be a great vacation rental. I feel robbed that this house was not what it was made out to be. My family and I tried to make the most of it.

D’Light house was in a great location for our family for what we enjoy doing, which is crabbing, clamming, fishing and close enough to walk to the beach. The kitchen was pretty well equipped with plates, glasses, mugs, pots and pans and utensils. It lacked containers for leftovers, which I guess we should have thought to bring those. Definitely does not have any spices, which was fine we purchased our own. The rest of the house was plenty big however it was packed full of so much stuff of the owners that it made it seem small and not enough room for all of our stuff. The layout of the house is odd. If you want to go downstairs you either have to down a VERY narrow spiral staircase or go outside and down the outside steps and around to the first floor doors. The furniture is all very outdated and stained, we put sheets over the couches so we felt more comfortable sitting on them. Most of the beds were so uncomfortable most of us were woke up very sore every morning. The dining room table is very nice though, it accommodated our whole family of 12. It was nice having so many bedrooms and bathrooms however they were all dirty and could tell they hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. The house had a nice deck and dock for our boat and nice deck furniture. The only problem out there was the bushes all around the deck are very overgrown and taken over the entire area, you could barely get through the path to get to the deck. This house has the potential be wonderful.

We enjoyed getting away for a weekend with family.

The house is the perfect size for large groups, the big dinning table was great, and beds were comfortable. However it's crowded with unnecessary furniture. The main sliding door which leads to the stairs was extremely difficult to open and close. Upon arrival we found the house had not been cleaned properly - dirty kitchen countertop, dirty bathroom sink, a pancake in the pullout sofa bed!!

Being a physician in active practice for 34 years, early on we wanted a vacation home near Maryland in a family oriented beach community. Now retired and a widower, my family still enjoys coming to S. Bethany, but not as often. I now enjoy renting the D'Light House to let others enjoy the experience for large groups and reunions.
