Modern Mountain Family Home with Elk Views, Style, and Space to Breathe
Welcome to our family’s home-away-from-everything. We built this place as a retreat—one that balances beauty and function, calm and play, space and connection. It’s where we go to slow down, hear the wind in the pines, and remember what matters. We’re thrilled to open it up and let others experience the magic of Estes Park from this exact spot.
From the deck, you can see the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and—if you're lucky—elk, deer, or even the occasional fox passing through the yard. These sightings happen almost daily. Mornings here start with coffee and birdsong. Evenings end with laughter on the deck, grilled dinners, or stargazing in the crisp mountain air.
Inside, the home is anything but your typical mountain rental.
We skipped the log cabin clichés and leaned into clean lines and thoughtful design—drawing inspiration from Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian warmth. Hygge if you will. :)
The space is open, airy, and full of natural light.
Windows everywhere.
Breezeways you’ll want to walk through barefoot.
A sense of ease built into every room.

*Built for Families*
We’re a family of five, and we designed this space with kids in mind—from our own experience traveling.
There’s a large playroom in the basement that once had a climbing wall, tunnels, and a ball pit (note: the climbing wall will be removed, and the walls repainted to a neutral tone—updated photos coming soon).
Outside, there’s a fenced-in yard for dogs and kids to roam freely, and a playset under the trees where our girls have spent hours.
- -- --- -- -
*Dog-Friendly*
We welcome well-behaved pups.
The fenced backyard makes things easy, and there are plenty of trails nearby for walk-and-sniff adventures.
- -- --- -- -
*Local Flavor, Minutes Away*
This home is perfectly located—quiet and tucked away, but just minutes from Estes Park’s best spots.
Bird’s Nest Coffee is a short walk or drive away for a perfect latte.
Bird & Jim and The Rock Inn are two of our go-to restaurants—great food, great atmosphere, and exactly what you want after a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, which is just up the road.
Country Market (grocery store) accross the street from Bird's Nest.
- -- --- -- -
*What You'll Love About the Area*
Estes Park has something for everyone.
Wildlife watching. Hiking trails for all skill levels.
Fly fishing.
Paddleboarding.
Cozy bookstores.
Summer festivals.
Live music.
Winter snowshoeing.
We’re close enough to town for groceries, coffee, and souvenirs—but far enough to feel like you’re truly in the mountains.
- -- --- -- -
*Other Things to Know*
Noise quiet hours begin at 8 PM to respect the peaceful surroundings.
Our split-level layout means there are stairs and changes in level—it’s not ideal for guests with limited mobility.
Climbing wall shown in some pictures will be removed, and walls will be freshly painted to a neutral tone. The playroom remains fun, open, and kid-ready.

Thanks so much!
We hope our home gives you the same peace, inspiration, and joy it gives us.
Come for the elk and the hikes—but stay for the stillness, the sunrises, and the sense that maybe... life doesn’t have to move quite so fast.

Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Pep Dekker

We’re a family of five (plus a dog) who traded city noise for elk bugles. Our girls climb trees, collect pinecones, and know the difference between deer and mule deer. We love hosting because we know how important it is to find a place that just works—for play, rest, remote work, and making memories. This home was designed for both connection and calm, and we hope you feel that the moment you walk in.
Por qué eligió esta propiedad
Because it’s magic. You’re close enough to grab coffee at Coffee on the Rocks or dinner at Bird & Jim, but far enough to hear wind in the pines and see stars that actually sparkle. We can spot the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center from the deck and elk walk by like they own the place (in May and in October they kind of do). It’s quiet, cozy, and wild—in all the best ways. Perfect for families, dreamers, and hikers alike.
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
It’s the anti-cabin cabin. Clean, modern, and full of light—not logs and lace doilies. Designed with a mix of Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian calm, it’s made for people who want mountain beauty without musty furniture or spotty Wi-Fi. There’s a record player and vinyl for slow mornings, 1GB internet for remote work, a basement that’s basically a kid’s paradise, and a deck that turns into the best seat in Estes for wildlife watching.
