The host was friendly and welcoming - all went smoothly. There were incredible views from the house. All the amenities were adequate but the house is rustic. We didn't stay there much because we all wanted to stay together at another house nearby.

Yes, rustic, intentionally so. Hopefully designed for those who love simple living and especially nature. We are surrounded by nature, in the midst of a cloud forest. We hope our guests will be released from the bustle of their busy lives.

Raul was great. The location and secludedness of the cabin was wonderful and the cloud forest property was beautiful. My son especially enjoyed the hummingbird feeders and seeing the amazing variety of hummingbirds. If you’re a camper you’ll likely really enjoy a stay here. But the cabin itself needs some repair. Several outlets and outdoor lights were not working. One of the upstairs windows had been replaced with plastic sheeting. We had some mice and two scorpions. So if you’re not ok with very rustic nature, you probably want to look elsewhere. That being said, my family enjoyed the time here.

Thanks for your comments. We have taken your recommendations seriously. The plastic sheeting has been replaced and is now crystal clear plexiglass. The two dead electrical receptacles were the result of a tripped breaker easily corrected. A new bulb has been place in the porch light. Both problems could have been immediately solved if our wonderful manager Raul had been informed. We have never seen scorpions here and prior guess have never reported them. We have always been considered to be too high for scorpions, so this is a surprise. We trap for mice, but occasionally we miss one. We thank you again for your comments. Sincerely Bill Calvert

This rustic cabin is fantastic to sleep six if people don’t mind sharing beds. The beauty and exposure to nature this property offers is amazing. Also, the host and the cook are both phenomenal people…probably my favourite souls met on this trip. The only caveat would be that nothing dries up there…so be ready for the living room futon to have been exposed to prolonged moisture causing it to have some mould. Free with the property is a pet coatimundi, agouti and about twenty or more hummingbirds…just don’t try to pet them.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast enjoying wild nature and camping like experience then this cabin could be a great lodging option for you. However, if your expectation is quality hotel standard accommodation then this property might not suit you. For example, the entire cabin is pretty damp which we didn't feel very comfortable with in our stay. The host Laurie and property manager Raul are great and very helpful. Personally we will not consider cabins like this in our future visits but I believe many people will enjoy their stays. It is just a matter of personal preference.

The views are amazing! The cabin is cozy, clean, and spacious. We had everything we needed. It’s truly in the jungle high above everything else. Being in a cabin in nature is exactly what we signed up for. We absolutely loved the porch. It was also nice to have hot water. The surrounding foliage and wildlife didn’t disappoint. We frequently saw a local coati (aka coatimundi) foraging near the cabin. We even had a couple scorpion visitors. Make sure you check your beds and shoes for critters, jic. The only thing we would have liked is screens on the windows. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep the windows open because a large swarm of wasps had temporarily set themselves up in the trees right outside one of the bedroom windows. Again, it’s the mountains of Costa Rica! The roads to get there were in good condition. The last stretch is dirt road. It’s not far from great restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and outdoor activities. The hosts were very kind and responsive. Thank you! Highly recommended!

Dear Aaron, I thank you for your kind review and wish to report that the wasp problem is taken care of. Raul dressed himself in a bee suit and managed to eliminate the nests under the eaves. I tried to upload a photo of him in his suit, but could not figure out how to do so. The windows can now be opened to the breezy tropical forest. Bill Calvert
