Wonderful location - the house needs a good scrub

The property manager was more than helpful.
The vacation rental was somewhat dirty.
I was very happy with the location.
I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

The location is wonderful. Carova beach is a unique and one of a kind experience. The home is large and a quick walk to the beach. Unfortunately the walkway to the beach is covered with overgrown bushes that need a good trim. The pool area is great. We came after tropical storm Ophelia and there was more sand than normal in the pool. We were told they would send cleaners and while a company did come to check the pool and hot tub, the sand was not cleaned out. They just touched up on the chemicals. The people before us left some items of clothing and a cooler bag just laying out in the yard. Some garbage was left behind laying around as well. We know the cleaners were in a rush from the storm but taking the extra 30 seconds to throw them all in the trash would’ve given a better first impression as we were welcomed with trash and stranger’s underwear. The house is big, big enough for our family of 16. The air conditioning was not working properly. The lower two floors felt like a sauna at night.The kitchen area is fine. Big enough to accommodate everyone. The floors were filthy. My daughter spilled her drink and when I wiped it up the towels were immediately black. Dog hair was found on floors as well along with on a couple of blankets. The hot tub was a hit with the kids. Unfortunately, lots of sand was in there too and not cleaned out when the chemicals were checked. The internet comes and goes. Not reliable if anyone is thinking they can work while on vacation.Seeing the horses everyday was wonderful. We saw dolphins and even a small shark while walking to Virginia (which is just a ten minute walk from the home).Overall our stay was OK but the home definitely needs some attention.
