This home is so lovely! It really is the perfect retreat for a family. We loved the comfy beds, lovely porch, and closeness to Volcano National Park. Cannot recommend highly enough!

We had a wonderful stay! The home was beautiful, and the surrounding environment made it even more enjoyable. Everything felt relaxing and well cared for. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great getaway.

House is in a lovely forest area. It’s quiet except for the coqui frogs which are not as active as we expected. Cool mountain air allowed for a peaceful slumber. The home is lovely and lots of small kind amenities. Hot teas, coffee creamers.Shampoos, conditioners and lotions.Lots of towels and pillows!! Jacuzzi is a plus. Mahalo for a beautiful home away from home!! This is win ( in very picking about clean and not worn out furniture and bedding)

Volcano stay

We chose this property as base for a day in the Volcano National Park. Minutes outside the park it was a perfect stay to get an early start and enjoy the park early in the day and virtually to ourselves. We were close enough to stop back for lunch and plan our afternoon back in the park. The property is welcoming and a great stay.

Unit very spacious and lots of room to spread out and relax. Everything nicely renovated as advertised and more w/ the exception of the 3rd bedroom having a king size bed instead of bunks. Fireplace was a plus during the chilly nights and covered parking helped keep us dry from the rain. Located near the end of the street in a quiet neighborhood. Host very responsive. Check in/out instructions clear and concise. Would return.

Fantastic home! Everything you need for a great stay -- it will feel like you're at home. Our family loved our stay at Ohia Lehua Hale. If you're going to the National Park or hanging around the South Shore, book without hesitation.The home was very clean and spacious. The lanai with its hot tub, citronella and scented candles, rocking chair, dining table, and furniture was wonderful during the cool, misty nights.The home is in a neighborhood but is spread out so that you feel like you're in your own little world, yet you're 5 minutes from Volcano Village and 10 minutes from Volcanoes National Park.Clean, well-equipped kitchen with everything you need for breakfast, late night, or even cooking a full meal.Just stay here!

A stunning and marvelous place! The property are photos accurate. The whole property was thoroughly clean. Bedding and towels felt like upscale hotel quality. Very spacious, and the owners have thought of everything, providing a kitchen stocked with all the utensils and appliances you’d need. The whole property has a like-new feel, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are very spacious! Check in and checkout was super easy, just a matter of unlocking/locking the door. The area was quiet, and you’ll basically only hear the pleasant sounds of birds in the ‘Ohi’a Lehua forest that surrounds you. There are lots of beautiful Hawaiian Tree Ferns and tropical flowers surrounding the home. We loved dining on the veranda table. This location was perfect for us to dash into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as soon as lava fountain episode 49 started, so we were able to beat the crowds that swarmed later from Kona and Hilo, causing lots of traffic that we were able to beat, find a parking space and be on the trail observing the eruption within 15 minutes. The owners had just the right amount of communication and were quick to reply. We look forward to staying here again the next time we want to visit more of the Big Island. If you’re debating about this property in Volcano, nothing to fear, it’s “the one!” Go ahead and book.

This property was so easy to find and the location was perfect for my Halau weekend. It’s very close to volcano activities, and venues.The house is very beautiful with a well planned layout of rooms, kitchen and lanai user friendly atmosphere throughout! It is such a peaceful place!My host Shannon was the best in communicating our pretty directions and answered my requests promptly. To me the contact host sets your weekend experience and Shannon just made everything so easy and comfortable for us! Everything was set perfectly with full kitchen including a well stocked coffee, tea area. Bedrooms perfect sizes and bathrooms well designed with easy bath access and accessories. The Hot Tub was the highlight!!! It was just such a perfect weekend and we are thankful for this gem of a Vrbo that made our stay so memorable! Mahalo nui Shannon for hosting us and providing us with the perfect hula staycation! We will book again soon. Kumu Liana from Waimea Hawaii Halau Hula Malanai. P.s. next year we’d like to book 2 properties

We chose Volcano because our friends brought us here on a "staycation" to check out the area, and we absolutely fell in love with the area. Volcano is different from other parts of Hawaii, which makes it special. Here, we are surrounded by lush forest and native plants and flowers, and we appreciate cooler temperatures. We enjoy visits to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and its hiking trails, Volcano Winery, Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, the local farmers market, a variety of local restaurants, and an easy drive to Hilo town.

Japanese business people and workers came to Hawaii in search of opportunity and eventually settled here. The Japanese influence can be seen throughout Hawaii in art, architecture, and our local foods. Ohi'a Lehua Hale was renovated in late 2024 to celebrate the close bond between Hawaii and Japan. In Volcano, our local stores and school were founded by immigrants from Japan and are a treasured part of our community.
