Nestled on a 10-acre family homestead and framed by rolling vineyards, this fully renovated two-story retreat invites you to slow down, gather with loved ones, and savor every moment. From shared meals in the gourmet kitchen to stargazing from the hot tub in the party barn, every detail is designed for memory-making—just 15 minutes from Main Street.

WONDERLODGE welcomes you to The Oswald, the centerpiece of the historic Behrends Homestead in Texas Wine Country. This two-story farmhouse blends vintage charm with modern comfort, offering a gourmet kitchen, four beautifully appointed bedrooms, and a private party barn complete with a hot tub, grill, outdoor TV, and games. Just 15 minutes from Main Street and surrounded by top wineries, it’s the perfect home base for relaxing, celebrating, and exploring the best of Fredericksburg.

―THE SPACE―
Inside, the spacious layout is designed for comfort and connection. The full kitchen features name-brand appliances, a large island with seating that’s perfect for casual dining or gathering while cooking, and a round table ideal for shared meals or late-night games. A cozy living room with a queen-size sleeper sofa, Roku TV, and reading chairs invites you to unwind by the fireplace. A washer and dryer are conveniently tucked into the kitchen pantry for added ease.

The Oswald's four bedrooms each offer their own personality, with thoughtful design touches that honor the property's heritage. The downstairs primary suite features a king bed, Roku TV, and an ensuite with double vanities, a walk-in shower, and a separate water closet. Upstairs, two king bedrooms share a luxe Jack-and-Jill bath with a walk-in shower, original claw-foot tub, and dual vanities. The fourth bedroom includes a queen bed and a private ensuite with walk-in shower and double vanities.

Step outside to your private courtyard and discover the perfect setup for group gatherings. A fire pit, lounge seating, and a covered party barn with a hot tub, grill, outdoor Roku TV, dining area, and cornhole offer endless ways to relax and celebrate. A nearby half bath adds even more convenience.

―THINGS TO KNOW - Please read before you book―

AMENITIES: Wood for Fire Pit is not provided.

LOCATION: The Oswald sits right along the 290 Wine Trail, placing you in the heart of Texas Wine Country with wineries just minutes away. Please note, the convenience of this prime location comes with some highway noise.

PRIVACY: The Oswald is one of four units on the Behrends Family Homestead. While the farmhouse is not attached to any other unit you may see fellow guests enjoying the property but all amenities listed are private and reserved just for you.

CHECK IN & CHECK OUT TIME: Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 11am. You will receive a code for keyless check in the day before your arrival. We are only able to offer an early check in if there is not a booking before yours as it takes time for our cleaners to prepare and restock the home for each stay. For this reason, we are also not able to offer a late check out when we have guests checking in the same day.

GUEST RENTAL AGREEMENT: We kindly ask all guests to sign a separate rental agreement after booking. This helps us protect both you and our property, making sure everything is in order for your stay. We’ve kept the agreement simple and straightforward, and we’re happy to answer any questions you might have about it.

CLEANLINESS: We put our heart and soul into ensuring the space is sparkling clean and ready for your stay! We invite you to make yourself at home and show our space the same love and care you would your own. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to keep it pristine for every guest, and we're excited for you to enjoy it! Some of our favorite amenities are outdoors, and while we do our very best to keep everything tidy, a bit of Texas Hill Country dust or the occasional fallen leaf is simply part of the charm. We hope you’ll embrace it as part of the relaxed, nature-filled experience that makes this place so special.

MINIMUM AGE TO BOOK: You must be at least 21 years of age to book. A photo of your government ID is required after booking and we will require you to sign a rental agreement.

WELL & SEPTIC: Our home offers the charm of rural living with the convenience of proximity to local attractions. As we rely on well and septic systems, we gently remind guests to be mindful when using sinks and bathrooms. For those not accustomed to well water, you might occasionally notice a sulfur scent. Rest assured, this is completely harmless, and our filters and water softeners are designed to minimize any odors, although a hint of it may still linger at times.

CRITTERS & WILDLIFE: Our house is tucked away in the beautiful Texas countryside, where you're surrounded by nature and the peaceful rhythm of rural life. Like many homes in the area, we have regular pest control to help keep bugs and critters at bay. That said, from time to time, you may still see a bug or two—it’s just part of the experience of staying in a natural setting.

In the spring, the front porch at the homestead becomes a favorite nesting spot for local birds. It’s a lovely sight to watch them come and go, and we think it adds to the charm of your stay. However, their presence may leave behind some bird droppings that are difficult to stay ahead of. Because these nests are active and protected by law, we cannot remove them—and we appreciate your understanding that this is simply part of enjoying an authentic countryside escape.

DAMAGE PROTECTION: Your booking includes coverage for accidental damage during your stay, because we understand that sometimes things happen. We kindly ask that you let us know if anything does, so we can take care of repairs or replacements as needed.

INSURANCE: Given the unpredictable nature of our world, we strongly suggest considering travel insurance to safeguard against any unexpected events. Our cancellation policy is firmly in place, so insurance can offer you peace of mind and protection. For those exploring travel insurance options, InsureMyTrip and Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection are two providers you might look into.
