Luxurious hilltop retreat with saltwater pool/spa, sitting on 10 acres just 20 mins from downtown Healdsburg and 90 mins from San Francisco. You’ll get sweeping views of vineyards on the surrounding hills, redwoods, and Mount St. Helena. The home features a fully-stocked kitchen with Miele appliances, outdoor grill and dining area, and an office/den with sleeper sofa (separate from the main 2 bedrooms). The house is a perfect wine country escape, best suited for friends and couples.

Beautiful getaway

Our stay here was amazing and the perfect place for a peaceful getaway. The property was secluded, and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub in the mornings as well as during sunset and after sunset hours. Alan has thought of everything to make the stay enjoyable! Thank you Alan for making our birthday celebration amazing

Loved our Stay

My husband and I stayed here for two days and loved it. The kitchen is convenient and has everything. Our bed was comfortable and so was the ambiance overall. It was lovely to wake up to the gorgeous views. It was a lovely stay and we look forward to returning soon.

Spectacular views

This house is beautiful, and it is at one of the most beautiful locations I have ever seen. It literally sits on a ridge top, and you can watch the sunrise on one side, and the sunset on the other. The pool and spa are beautiful, everything is clean and modern, and we would love to go back. The host met us at the house to explain everything, and even had a bottle of wine that he sat and shared with us! From start to finish, this was a wonderful experience!

Great Getaway

We spent the Mothers Day weekend with friends and relaxed, swam, ate, drank, toured wineries and hiked. The house is well equipped, very comfortable, with an awesome location. The house is very contemporary and all new but furnished with relaxation in mind. Close enough to town and the wineries but remote enough to get away from it all. We will choose this home again on our next visit to the wine country.

Perfection in every way

The photos and description of this property do not do it justice, it is absolute paradise. From the architecture to the views and all the little person touches like fresh flowers in every room, we were blown away by this gem of a getaway property in wine country. The hosts could not be more accommodating and made us feel right at home. Can’t wait to stay again.

Idyllic Get-Away

It was such a pleasure to escape to this "Tuscany by the Bay" hilltop retreat. Everything about it was just lovely. The natural surroundings are spectacular, quiet and serene. The interior space is also exrordinary. The design and furnishings are superb with impeccable attention to detail. If you're looking for a quiet get-away to soothe city stress, you couldn't do better! I recommend this place without reservation.

Hilltop Gem

My wife and I stayed in this fabulous house for our 10 year anniversary and had an amazing time. The house is exquisite; an architectural gem. The folding glass walls allow for full enjoyment of the natural setting, privacy and dramatic view. And the location is superb, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but just 15-20 minutes to wineries and downtown Healdsburg. Alan and Jonathan are warm hosts and we definitely plan on making another trip back later this summer.

A Dream House

If you've ever dreamed of staying in a dream house that you've seen in a glossy magazine - that's the best choice you can make! The only regret is that we only booked it for 3 days! It was just not enough! I can't wait to go back to this house again! Alan (the home owner) is fantastic - he will make you feel like home there! :)

Peaceful retreat - beautiful views

The house was as nice as the pictures (even better). It was a great house for 2 couples. The views were spectacular and seeing the fog burn off in the morning was a treat. It should be noted that to get these views it is a bit of a drive from the main road. The listing makes it appear that it is a bit closer in. Plan to add 15+ minutes each way to get into town. Not a problem if you're planning to hang out the house. It is well equipped. Everything worked well and our host Alan was great to work with. Loved the extra attention to detail.

A Little Slice Of Heaven

From the moment we drove up to this property we felt like we were in heaven. The setting is so peaceful and serene and the grounds and pool are sophisticated and perfectly appointed. We loved Alan, the owner who met us upon arrival and so thoroughly showed us the home and how to work everything. We were left with a plate manchego and brie cheese with olives, crackers and a beautiful bottle of wine to ease into our stay. The pool was heated and sparkling and the interior of the home is designed to maximize privacy and bringing the outside in. It's modern but very comfortable. We can't wait to go back!

The pictures do not do this place justice. The house is a gorgeous modern home perched at the top of hill in the middle of the woods. With views of the vineyards on one side and the trees on the other, the pool area has the best of both worlds, direct sunlight and shade. Every detailed is massaged out from the immaculate kitchen (with convection oven), rocking lounge chairs, guest shower with a view, hardwired speakers (with ipod control), and pool with jacuzzi. I recommend getting a week's worth of groceries and not leaving this place.

Unimaginable and Rare Experience

We spent a memorable long weekend at The Modern Home. We were excited to see the home since the pictures were so inviting. The home is done with such intention and purpose - beautifully decorated, luxurious beds and a peaceful backyard. We actually didn't want to leave but had made arrangements to visit local sites. We did spend every evening cooking and enjoying the property. We were fortunate to meet the owners -- they were as lovely as the property!! Very kind and attentive to our questions and requests. I highly recommend this property and would return without question. Worth every penny!!

Just FABULOUS!!

There is so much to this property that the pictures just can’t capture! Our greeting with the host put the entire house in perspective. He explained how the original house had burned in 2020 in one of the biggest fires of recent in California. They rebuilt but left some of the original structure as part of the landscaping and ambiance of the property. It’s difficult to see in the photos but the personal tour and being there put it all in perspective. It was gorgeous! Everything that you could want was provided. The host thought of everything! He placed fresh flowers in every room; a welcome bottle of local wine; and a welcome note. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway along with so many personal touches. Just a perfect stay!

Breathtaking!

This house and its setting are beyond expectations! A secluded getaway, with easy access to shops and vineyards, was exactly what we wanted for our vacation. Not only was the living space well furnished with modern touches that I could only dream of having in my own home, but the view is breathtaking. Although we visited during the winter season, the times we were able to use the grounds surrounding the pool/spa were wonderful. The ease of transitioning from indoor to outdoor living is so very “California,” extending the living room out to the pool. It is clear that the owners spared no expense in making this house feel like home for those who are visiting. To enjoy a glass of wine, while sitting under the stars is a luxury that passes most by, but not here! All of the bedrooms are private, which makes this home perfect for couples who travel together. After a bitter cold Pennsylvania winter, I am counting the days until my next visit!

Glorious Autumn Retreat in Healdsburg!

I've always loved the Sonoma wine country in the autumn when the grape vines turn gold, red and deep cabernet colors. My friend and I wanted to get away and soak in the last of the fall colors. We decided to stay in this house. From the beginning of talking with the owners, Jonathan and Alan, I was convinced that I wanted to stay here. I was looking for someplace to rest deeply, to escape noise, to soak in the autumn beauty, and to have privacy. We felt that we found a treasure in finding this home. It was paradise incarnate. Jonathan and Alan have infused this home with beauty through their creative elements of fine architecture, art, furnishings, and color and had given such careful attention to all the amenities! The weekend was a perfect balance of enjoying a quiet oasis of natural beauty mixed in with visits to downtown Healdsburg only twenty minutes down the hill to take in some art galleries and wine tastings. If you're looking for a first class and very special experience, this is the place to come and...to return. We are already talking about when we can go back and next time we will plan to stay longer! A Heavenly Getaway

Our week-long stay in June was heavenly. The house, mostly of glass, concrete and steel, sits like a jewel on top of a hill with spectacular views of vineyards and mountains. If you stop and listen, often you hear only the rustling of the wind in the surrounding trees. Decks, terraces and pool, as well as movable glass walls, enhance the outdoor experience where ever you are. The kitchen is nicely equiped, the bedrooms private and comfortable. You might decide not to leave the house at all, but if you want, Healdsburg is only 20 minutes away. Dry Creek and Russian River wineries are even closer. Alan and Jonathan are splendid hosts. They greeted us warmly upon our arrival, even provided a nice bottle of wine and dinner for the first night. They were easy to reach by phone, and very responsive, if we had a question. We've rented half a dozen times in Napa and Sonoma. This was far and away or favorite place. We liked it so much we're prepared to break an ironclad rule: never rent the same place twice. For every rule, there's an exception, and this is it for us.

A Little Slice of Heaven!

My husband and I stayed here for our 16th wedding anniversary and it was wonderful, even better than we had imagined! I knew from looking at the photos that this was not the usual "cutesy" vacation rental and it did not disappoint in person. Alan was there to greet us upon arrival and he gave us a quick introduction to the house and left us with an array of wonderful wine and snacks -- the perfect touch. During our stay, we had wonderfully warm weather (in the 90s) so the pool and hot tub were well used, the perfect spot to stay cool and gaze at the beautiful view. Being so far from town, it is quite dark at night and the stars are amazing, we even saw the international space station cruise over on it’s orbit as we lounged in the hot tub. Inside the house, every eventuality has been thought of. I like to cook, and every pot, pan or tool I needed in the kitchen was at my fingertips. Even the bathrooms were fully stocked with mini-sized amenities (soap, aspirin, razor, toothbrush/paste, etc.), just in case I had left mine behind. One word of warning…once you arrive you will not want to leave, so bring enough food to last you several days. Thank you for our wonderful stay, we can’t wait to come back!

Purely magical

The photos in this listing are just the beginning of one's experience. Once you begin the journey to get there is quite another! Driving to the property, you pass acres of vineyards, beautiful Pacific Madrones and California Oaks. Then you arrive to the diamond in the rough atop the mountain, and wow! The home is nestled onto the land surrounded by the beauty of the natural landscape. We sat on the patio every morning to sip our coffee and watch the slow dance of the fog roll below us weaving through the vineyards in slow motion, making its way to the edge of the horizon. Windows and vantage points placed throughout the home will remind you where you are: a place that will invite you to leave behind all the busy sounds and energies of a bustling world, and settle into the beauty, the solitude, and the many many comforts and amenities this home offers. Jonathan and Alan have created not only an architectural beauty, but, have taken such great care to make sure that you are nurtured while you experience your stay. Our time at the mountaintop was the perfect place for us to spend time away from our busy lives, enjoy spectacular beauty and landscape and to also enjoy the great cuisine in nearby Healdsburg and Geyserville which are at your doorstep …. well, not exactly (remembering that you are on the mountaintop:))...but very close by. Thank you, thank you for opening your home to us.

PARADISE ON THE MOUNTAIN!

If you're viewing this property, look no longer! This is the perfect place for two or three couples to enjoy a peaceful place to vacation in wine country. We recently stayed at this home (9/29/13 - 10/5/13) and it couldn't have been any more perfect! The owner greeted us upon arrival and reviewed everything in detail to make our stay seemlessly relaxing. Like many of you, I searched and searched throughout VRBO for THE perfect vacation home. This offered everything you could want -- a pool, a hot tub, and most of all, the view of a lifetime! We cooked at home most nights and had everything at hand for grilling out. The kitchen is fully equippement with every gadget you can imagine. The days were filled with sunshine, wineries, etc. and the cool nights were perfect for each of us to enjoy our wine outdoors. The layout of the home is so comfortable and so easy to live in. When I say I did not want to leave...I mean it! Upstairs there is an outdoor deck which is so beautiful for the sunrises and picture perfect for star gazing. This may sound crazy, but the beds and the pillows were extremely comfy -- no sore back or necks in the AM! Another cool feature...the upstairs bathroom has a nice heater feature to turn on while you're in the shower. A toasty way to dry off! The owners are architects in San Fran and did not miss a thing in designing this home. Seriously, I could live here! It is a 25 minute ride to/from the home, but honestly, that is not a negative at all. Because once you arrive, the drive is forgotten. And, it truly is a beautiful journey to their home. Don't pass up an opportunity to stay here!!

WARNING! You will love this place and won't ever want to leave!

At our recent visit at what we now call "Healdsburg's Hilltop Haven!" we were stunned and amazed by an extremely beautiful setting in wine country, at the crest of a small hill west of Healdsburg. The place is very private as we never heard neighbors and couldn't see anything beyond the sheer beauty of California's northern forests and vineyards. To top it off, the home is nothing short of spectacular. If you like light and windows and modern/contemporary look and feel, you will be right at home in this oasis! One of the highlights of the house, is that the main area has 3 floor to almost ceiling glass panes that are about 12 feet in length, and wrap around the kitchen and living areas. These open to the outdoors making the home feel like you are in a semi outdoor kitchen and living area. If you want to close them, you can and get air through higher smaller windows with screens. The efficiency of the home is great! Also, amenities were quite plentiful, and the owner personally greets you and spends about 20 minutes going over a few things in the home! The treatment and amenities are better than we have had in some of the high end resorts! This place is great for vacations with friends or family! Our advice is to make sure to plan your trip so that you are able to spend some time at the house relaxing and enjoying. We ended up canceling a dinner reservation and cooked and ate at the house all three nights. One last thing, it's not a house to be loud, obnoxious, and "party." It's an oasis for good times, sharing, and relaxing! If you plan to party, please go somewhere else. The artistry, cleanliness, & beauty inside and out must be respected and preserved!

GLORIOUS EXPERIENCE

Our party of 3 booked for one week from July 27. Booking process was brilliant, Alan answering quickly to any question we might have, and more as the banking process started stalling and postponing the transfer. Thanks forthe patience and understanding. Explanations on how to turn up were precise, accurate and Alan was waiting up there to welcom us on the hilltop. Photos do not remotely do justice to the property. It is nothing short of spectacular. Location, architecture, style make any rendition a difficult job. It is not huge, but there is plenty of space, and is perfectly livable, as opposed to some houses that are just so big that a small party feels lost, and quest for Coke in the kitchen fells lie a journey. Here, it is just right. Everything, and I mean all things and each thing is in pristine conditions, and works perfectly well. Feeling a little cold in the morning, central heating comforts you in minutes. It is always odd to comment on cleanliness, as it seems it should be a standard pre-requisite. It was as clean as new. The follow-up from Alan throughout the stay was perfect : totally available, but never intrusive. We spent a wonderful vacation. There is a drawback though, which we knew about, but did not realize until we experienced it. The house is uphills, a long (or feeling long) winding drinve on a narrow road. I do not mind driving, and 20 minutes on a highway is not a problem, but that was not the kind of drive I felt my relatives would enjoy after dinner. And we ended having more meals at the house than we planned. So, not a drawback actually, as we enjoyed the house even more, at night, under a starry sky.

Wow!

Amazing property in perfect setting. Beautifully architected property full of amenities and thoughtful consideration for guests. Property manager was responsive and provided a welcome overview. Impeccably clean and comfortable for 4 adults. We made full use of the pool/spa and the many seating areas to take in the view. Perfect spot for a few days of wine tasting and lazy morning and evenings with amazing views.
