Fabulous Location near Shipwreck Beach and Grand Hyatt Resort

We purchased this lovely ground floor garden view condo in April, 2013. This condominium has a large master bedroom with A/C. The master bedroom has an an en-suite master bath with a walk in shower. Our home also has a half bath for your convenience. Our spacious lanai is an excellent place to kick back and enjoy your morning coffee or romantic dinner. Poipu Sands is located directly next to the ocean near famous Shipwreck Beach and adjacent to the Kauai Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa. The Grand Hyatt resort offers lush tropical grounds, casual and fine dining as well as shops and entertainment. Shipwreck Beach, located in front of the Hyatt is usually sunny and less crowded than other Poipu Beaches. This is a beautiful beach to take a romantic evening stroll and is often used as the backdrop for wedding photos. Poipu Sands is located within the upscale Poipu Kai resort. The Poipu Kai development is located on 70 acres and extends from Poipu Beach to Shipwreck Beach. The resort is connected by a green belt that has beautiful garden paths winding through it. The Kiahuna Golf Course and the Poipu Bay Golf Course are both in very near proximity. The Poipu Kai tennis and pickleball club is just a short walk from our unit. You may also enjoy a game of tennis on Poipu Sands private tennis court. Poipu Sands is the only complex within Poipu Kai that offers a private tennis court. Poipu Sands also offers a large seasonally heated private swimming pool. You also have access to an additional pool and hot tub just a short walk down the green belt path. Poipu Beach which has been ranked as one of the top beaches in the United States is just a short 10 minute walk from our unit along the pleasant Poipu Kai green belt. This beach has both a shallow area which is excellent for swimming with small children and a great snorkeling area as well. This is a favorite spot to see napping endangered monk seals and Hawaiian sea turtles. Old Koloa Town located less than five miles away is the site of the island's first sugar mill. Historic Old Koloa Town is a hub of picturesque shops, eateries, gift and souvenir emporiums. There are a variety of Luaus throughout Kauai including one at the Grand Hyatt Resort right next door. You may also enjoy a horse back ride along the Mahaulepu Coast line, renting a stand up paddle board to enjoy the ocean surf or dining at the large variety of nearby restaurants ranging from family fare to upscale and romantic. Take a lovely evening stroll along the green belt to Poipu Beach to enjoy the sunset then come home to enjoy dinner on your very own quiet and comfortable lanai.

Great location and condo

This condo is in a great location and we enjoyed our time here. The condo was very clean and exactly as described. It was nice to be close to the ocean but also have access to a beautiful pool area as well. Communication was great with Kathy and she was always very responsive.

Great location!

This property is central to many popular experiences on the South Shore of Kauai. Check in was easy, communication was wonderful, and the unit itself was immaculate. The air conditioning in the master suite was a wonderful treat. Thank you very much for sharing your home with us. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing Stay

Kathy & Bob, This accommodation was perfect in so many ways. The unit was well stocked with initial kitchen supplies, beach equipment and information of local dining options. We enjoyed our hiking in Kokee State Park as well as walks from the unit. Our morning sunrise walks were a great way to start the day. It was a great four days of relaxation and maybe we’ll get back there again. Many thanks, Don & Charlene P.

Home away from home

Went to Waikiki for a wedding then decided to come to Kauai for the first time. The condo was a perfect place to use as a home base to see all the sights and to relax. I loved the location next to the Grand Hyatt so there were many scenic walking areas.

Our Kauai Condo

The condo was great, fresh and clean. Very comfy furniture, especially the dining room chairs and bed. Loved our walks to Shipwreck Beach. The complex grounds are beautiful, compliments to the gardeners. We had a lovely stay. Thank you!

Poipu Paradise

Great location to watch both the sunrise and sunset over the ocean. The facility is perfect for two people and is convenient and close to lots of amenities.

Wonderful place!! Must stay!

Perfect place to stay! Lots of room and very very well stocked. My now husband and I stayed there for 8 nights and got married just down the beach at shipwrecks beach. It was perfect! Perfect place to walk to the cliff and watch the sunrise. We really hope to come back one day!

40th Anniversary Delight

We loved staying in this updated unit that had everything we wanted! The beach was just steps away and we could walk to our anniversary dinner at Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt. Great location to get to many fun activities on the island.

Loved this!

We enjoyed everything about this condo. The location is perfect! The only thing had nothing to do with the owner or the condo itself. It is with the cleaners. I don't think they wash the floors. You shouldn't be wearing shoes inside but we found the floors to be so dirty that we had no choice. Hopefully that was just a one time thing. But, we will definitely be back to this condo in the future. The owner was easy to get a hold of and the condo is lovely. We have stayed in a LOT of condos in Hawaii and this is the best one on Kauai that we've stayed. We'll be back!!

Great Location

This ground floor home is adorable. She has thought of everything, Its close to resorts with amazing food. Enjoyed spending our last 3 nights on the south shore. The AC in the bedroom gets the room perfect to fall asleep. I am a light sleeper and needed to get ear plugs so it could be run off and on at night as needed. We were very busy and did not hang out during the day. We used the pool once it was a great cool off at the end of the day.

2 week stay

This condo is a great value. Only downside was no central AC, and one of the beach chairs was broken when we arrived but I don't think the owner was aware of this. Overall, great location and very comfortable place to spend two weeks!

Location! Location! Location!

We loved this property for its closeness to Shipwreck Beach. Everything that you could think of was supplied by the owner. The only issue I had was operating the TV! The 2 remotes were confusing to this older lady. Following the instructions left by the owner didn't always work, but then who watches that much TV when you are vacationing in paradise. I highly recommend this property!

50th Anniversary celebration

Very nice property. We especially enjoyed the size and layout of the rooms. A big advantage for us was having the spacious main bathroom and a powder room. The kitchen was well appointed and stocked with paper products and soaps, detergents and scrubbies. Having the laundry in the unit was very convenient as well. I contacted the owner(s) with minor questions during our stay and the always responded within minutes. Definitely will stay here again.

One of the nicest condos we have ever stayed in

We stayed for four nights. The condo was beautiful and super well equipped. You can see that the owners use this as a personal destination. Large comfortable bedroom and one and a half large baths. AC in the bedroom was a nice edition but we were comfortable with the island breeze most of the time. First floor unit with a large walk out patio. Huge front lawn with view towards Shipwreck Beach. Very nice pool. Lovely walkway along the beach. Easy drive or about a 15 minute scenic walk over to Poipu Beach. Wished we had planned to stay longer.

Tropical peaceful apartment.

We had a lovely stay in Kauai for 4 nights in this ground floor apartment. The bed is huge and comfortable . All the furniture has a tropical vibe. The kitchen is well equipped and the coffeemaker with ground coffee provided was a wonderful welcome after a long day. It took us a little while to figure out the best way to cool the apartment , without using the air conditioning but once we discovered the lover windows in both the bedroom and dining area and opened the front door leaving the wire screen locked, this combination gave a wonderful flow through of air. We did not use many of the facilities of the complex as we spent most of our time touring the island. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We loved everything about this condo. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed by sounds of Hawaii, we felt at home. Sparkly clean and spacious, with everything you need within walking distance. Grab the provided beach chairs and umbrella and head to either Poipu or Shipwreck Beach! Hike the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail that begins at Shipwreck Beach for stunning views. Walk the path through Poipu Kai Resort from Shipwreck Beach (in front of Grand Hyatt) to Brennecke's Beach to watch sea turtles come up for their nighttime rest. Enjoy a relaxing day at the Grand Hyatt pool and lagoon via Resort Pass or simply lounge in the comfy outdoor chairs listening to the sounds of the ocean. All of the amenities in the condo and on the grounds were well cared for and it is obvious Kathy & Bob take great pride in making sure you enjoy your stay. Kathy got right back to us when we reached out and was so helpful. We stayed here for 5 nights in May to celebrate our 35th anniversary and hope to be back for our 40th and beyond!

We have lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for 45 years and have been coming to Hawaii since 1982 to escape our cold, dark winters. We spent several years researching where we wanted our winter getaway to be located. After visiting several places, we choose Poipu, Hawaii because of the consistent weather conditions, the outdoor activities and the friendly people. We absolutely love our home in Kauai and we are excited to share it with you.

We loved Poipu Sands because of all the beautiful green space that surrounds the complex. The feeling that you get at the Sands is one of openness. Poipu Sands sits directly near the beachfront. There is no road between the condos and the ocean.
