Located on 3 secluded acres in the Powder Ridge community in Newry, Maine, our home is only 4 miles from Sunday River Ski Resort. In fact you will have winter views of the slopes, and when the leaves fill in you will have peaceful seclusion. if privacy is what you are looking for summer privacy is what you will get. If you are not an active outdoor adventurer then our home will indulge you in the unbelievable sense of relaxation. Enjoy shopping and dining in Historic Bethel Village, less than 10 minutes away.

True North is a four season vacation rental that is perfect for every activity Maine has to offer; downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, tubing, snowshoeing, skating, hiking, fishing, kayaking, ATV riding, mountain biking, zip-lining, geocaching and horseback riding and golfing. The Sunday River Golf Course (5 minutes away) was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.. This course features an 18-hole championship course that winds through one of Maine’s most picturesque forests in a truly spectacular mountain setting.

True North features over 3,000 square feet of living space, including four bedrooms, three baths (master on suite with Jacuzzi tub), cathedral ceiling great room with 15 foot fieldstone fireplace, large open kitchen with island featuring stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, large dining area, large loft overlooking the great room, 1,000 square foot deck, plus screened in porch. A large entertainment area with, bar, pool table, Ping-Pong, air hockey, Wii, large screen TV and DVD player. New Saltwater hot tub and LG Air Conditioning units.

Great property

The property was awesome for our family. The boys kept busy playing games downstairs. The girls spent a lot of time in the hot tub. We celebrated my daughters birthday in great accomodations.

Another great stay at True North

This was our third time staying at True North and it never disappoints. The house is lovely with plenty of room to spread out and spend time together. The new hot tub is a delightful addition. I highly recommend the house. The hosts are incredibly responsive and make sure you have everything you need. Thanks again for a great stay.

Amazing Time!

We had such a good time at Ed’s place! Perfect location and easy check in process. The house is absolutely beautiful and I slept in one of the cofmiest beds I ever slept in. 5 minutes from the mountain and just a perfect place! Thank you Ed and family!

True North - Is One of Our Favorite Family Getaways

This was our second time staying at True North and we were not disappointed! The house is impeccably maintained, perfect location and the new hot tub was an added bonus and surprise. Our extended family ages 9 to 74 had a great time, plenty of space to be together or apart as needed, and kitchen has everything you need for family meals. We highly recommend this property, skiing was great. Thanks so much for hosting us again.

We had a wonderful stay at True North. Everything was spotlessly clean, which means a lot to me! The location is great for Sunday River skiing. I’d stay here again anytime! The owners were great to communicate with and we would rent this lovely home again without reservation!

Family Ski Trip

Couldn’t have had a better stay at True North. We came for a family ski trip with adults and children. The house was close to the mountain and offer everything we needed. New Years Ski Weekend

Ed's communication before and during the trip was most appreciated, he was very thoughtful and helpful. The home was perfect for a ski weekend, and has a nice view of the mountain. We definitely would want to stay at the property when visiting Sunday River again, and would hope to stay longer to enjoy the amenities provided in the home (great game room, hot tub, etc.).

Amazing stay!

We had a truly amazing stay at True North! We arrived and the house was spotless and well stocked. The host was extremely helpful beforehand and during our stay. There was a snow storm the first night we stayed, and early in the day the driveway was plowed and all walkways and the grill were shoveled out. We are so grateful for our stay here and will certainly be back!

Cozy but spacious and modern with view of Sunday River slopes

Excellent experience all around. Owner communications were timely, friendly, thorough, and helpful. House was clean and well-provisioned with dishware, appliances, pool table TVs, etc.. Bathrooms to serve sleeping areas on each of the three floors were very convenient. The main kitchen/dining/living room is magnificent, with beautiful wood-paneled, huge high-ceilinged space with great windows with a view of the slopes - plenty of comfortable couches and chairs. Situated in a lovely forested property - quiet and clean. I would return to this house, and recommend it highly.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The house is lovely and so close to Sunday River. Ed is a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed even giving us an update on the ski conditions. I highly recommend his house.

Great Long Weekend at True North

MLK weened at True North with friends and family was awesome. Communication with the owner began several weeks before check-in, which made the day of arrival easier. They were able to have it open earlier than anticipated. Which was great. Everything was labeled, and there were reminders posted everywhere for the different protocols for trash, dishes, etc. It is a beautiful property and very tastefully and appropriately appointed, and it made for a cozy, fun weekend escape. I would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful home

I stayed at True North over the December holiday break with my family of 5 and another family of 5. The house was clean, beautiful and well equipped for all our needs. We enjoyed the sunrises over looking the mountains as well as the gas fireplace in the family room. We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and we had one issue with a toilet that was addressed immediately. I would highly recommend True North.

Wonderful Christmas Holiday at True North with family!

The property is perfect. Secluded but close to the mountain and town. The house is large enough that everyone can spread out and have their own space. Children in basement on sectional sofa watching Christmas movies, adults upstairs enjoying themselves. A Christmas tree was even set up in the main living area which was a great surprise! Skiing was great for the first couple of days then the crazy rain came but there were still plenty of things to do at the house (ping pong was a huge hit!) as well as the bowling alley/arcade in town! The kitchen is equipped with just about everything you need but if you don't feel like cooking try The Good Food Store for great family size pre-made dishes (lasagna, pot pies, etc). We made our traditional Christmas Cake (Buche de Noel) and were thrilled when we found a hand mixer in the kitchen! It's a beautiful property that could be enjoyed any time the year.

Terrie and I are married with four children. We live on Long Island in New York and love vacationing in Maine.

Terrie and I, along with our children, are avid skiers and boarders. We learned to ski at a young age and encouraged our kids to ski at the age of 3. Every year we spent skiing found us turning through pages of the local real estate publications dreaming of one day owning our own ski home. After skiing Sunday River over the past several years it became apparent to us that this is where we wanted to have a vacation home. After many years of dreaming about this, 2013 became the year that we were able to make this dream come true for our family. We spent the winter and summer exploring the Newry and Bethel area and fell in love with all of the outdoor activities that this area has to offer. The house is beautiful and accommodating. We have decided to offer our home so that you too can experience this four season resort and its surrounding area. What is great about our property is that it is only 4 miles from Sunday River. The convenience of being able to ski and the come home for lunch is awesome. In the summer we are surrounded by outdoor activities. Our favorite is climbing the falls and swimming in the water pools.
