A Lovely Retreat At 9000 Feet

This nicely decorated, comfortable 2 bedroom plus bonus bedroom, 1 bath home sleeps 6 comfortably with terrific access to all Cloudcroft offers. A fully stocked kitchen with bar counter gives open access to dining and living rooms allowing for convenience and fellowship with family or friends. Morning coffee can be had on the deck off master bedroom, or on the covered front porch. Dish TV, Wi-Fi. We have just remodeled the shower to be a tub/shower combo. New tiles and fixtures! The house next door, 'Cozy Mountain Cabin' can be rented as well for larger family gatherings with great convenience!

Beautiful location

Not what I expected

The front steps were a joke, hand made and not well. The furniture cushions were wore out and the sink srayer leaked bad.

Nice but dirty

The propert and hosts were amazing. The time spent was perfect. However the cabin was very dirty. Dishes were dirty with food particles still on them, cobwebs through out the cabin, and dead moths on the bed and even framed in pictures. We enjoyed our time, but also felt as if we spent alot of it cleaning up to be more comfortable. Thank you again though.

Worn Out

This was by far the worst vacation rental we have ever had from anyone. Home is not maintained and all furniture is worn out with no support left in cushions. Three outside doors with dead bolts only working on one. Deck boards in back are not good and even have holes through deck. Deck furniture in back is moldy and dirty not that I would try to walk on deck anyway. 25% of lights in home do not work and kitchen light is broken and holding on from falling with a prayer and hope. Broken window blinds. I had to work on the one toilet in house 5 times to keep it flushing as internals are worn out. Steps leading from parking area to front door are made from rock and mortar and they are loose and crumbling. Pictures on VBRO web site are not up to date. Shows grassy area off back deck, NOT, just neighbors work shop, lay down yard and greenhouse 50' off back deck. Pictures of furniture inside are not as it is. Thank heavens the weather was great and we stayed business being in National Forest and golfing so basically used home for sleeping only.

Cute little place easy to find, very quiet neighborhood. Very well stocked and a few little quirks that'll make one grin but nothing to get in a twist over. Overall great stay...

I would stay there again!

Every time I've traveled I've stayed at other places and most times I haven't felt the most comfortable or safe staying there. SoI thought I would try a VRBO on my Halloween trip and I'm so glad that I did! I felt very safe and really appreciated the hosts patience as I navigated what was for me a new website. They were quick to answer any questions and were very kind. I read some of the reviews and said that there was some sort of odor in the cabin but I didn't find that at all. The beds were very comfortable with warm quilts for the cold nights. And I really appreciated the hosts having wood cut up for the fireplace! We were able to make s'mores in the fireplace which just added to the fun of the cabin. One thing that I would like to add is that if you have any difficulties walking just know that you have to walk down three uneven rock steps to get to the porch, then you have to walk down two steps to get to the living room and then you have to walk down three half circle wood steps to get to the laundry room. Since I use canes to help me walk that's the only thing that I wish I had known about the cabin. Oh, and I was able to travel with my elderly miniature dachshund which really meant a lot to me. He also loved the house :) Highly recommended!!!!

Love this location

This is a nice property and a great location! It could use some minor improvements (the overhead kitchen lights didn’t work and there were several outlets that didn’t work.) The owner and the property manager did their best to take care of the kitchen light problem, but it wasn’t significant enough to require repair during our stay. For my wife and me, the location is what makes this a great property. The lack of traffic, the proximity to village activities and the area’s natural beauty make this a great stay. We love the walking trail at the end of the street, where we have seen elk and deer. We would definitely stay at this property again if we have the opportunity.

Labor Day weekend.

Property was as described. Possible that had been not used for some time, there was a smell that we could not get rid of. Overall, served its purpose, near town and trails.

Suitable for groups but minor improvements needed

Overall this property met our needs and we enjoyed our stay. The books and games were a nice addition as well as firewood supplied. Plenty of extra blankets and kitchen supplies were available, although we would have appreciated salt or basic seasonings. When we arrived ash logs were dumped by the walkway and the ash bucket was full. The entrance rock steps are wobbly and probably need to be redone. Front deck and furnishings were nice: the chair and couch set cushions could use some stuffing, but the back deck needed shoveled to be accessible. Our biggest complaint was the funky smell entering the cabin and in other various areas of the house. It also needed to be deep cleaned as we found various items behind and under beds not belonging to us. When we arrived dishes were in the dishwasher likely clean and so we also ran the dishwasher before checking out without waiting to put the dishes away. We did not contact the provider but internet was not accessible during our stay even after repowering the modem/router.

Happy New Year at 9000 ft.

This little house was perfect for our group of 4 plus our dog. The proximity to the Rim Trail was great! It is on a dead end street so very little car traffic! The fireplace and sunken living room were perfect for cozy evenings. The shower was perfect and we had plenty of hot water. The dishwasher in the kitchen was such a nice surprise. We highly recommend this sweet spot at 9000 ft.

Comfortable Stay

The cabin was comfortable with everything we needed. It’s a nice quiet spot to enjoy coffee on the front porch. The host was sure to provide all the necessary information for check-in. There does seem to be a skunk highway happening in the area. This was fine, just know they are around.

Comfy stay!

Stayed a week here with my husband and 19 y/o son. Very comfortable accommodations. Loved that there was a washer/dryer and the fridge had an ice maker. We were thinking it would be a little more isolated but the neighbors at the condos across the street were all very friendly. The picture of the backyard could maybe be updated. There’s not as much space as I thought and the neighbor back there keeps his area a little unsightly and was always burning stuff causing a lot of smoke. The shower was clean but could use some spiffing up. There was plenty of hot water for three people and the water pressure was ok. None of this was a dealbreaker for us. So happy we were allowed to bring our little dog. Overall a great stay!

Facility was as advertised

Unfortunately skunks had sprayed the home or prior tenants. The unit stunk and caused discomfort and nausea for 2 of guests. We left a day early and had to stay away from unit most day hours. Hopefully owner is giving us a large or full refund for discomfort.

Our family has vacationed in Cloudcroft for 70 years. Our dad started coming up with friends when he was 17 to get out of the Texas heat. Later, family vacations with grandparents, cousins and friends created great memories.

We have owned this home for 20 years as a long-term rental and recently renovated and decorated it for vacation rental. It is comfortable and convenient to everything. It is our piece of Cloudcroft, which we have loved for a lifetime!
