Casa Miguel is a modern custom built home located in the desirable Historic Eastside of Santa Fe. The house sits on a hill providing some of the very best views that Santa Fe has to offer of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Sun and Moon Mountains and off to the west for ultimate sunsets. It is less than a 10-minute walk to the Plaza and a ¼ mile to the famed Arts & Crafts of Canyon Road. The house has AC if it's hot and plenty of fresh air with large opening doors, and overhead ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom.

Casa Miguel is filled with custom made furniture (built by the owner) and displays original oil paintings on its diamond finished plaster walls that exceed 11’ in height. This beautifully appointed one private bedroom, one luxury bath home is 1200 square feet with excellent natural light throughout the day. The floor plan is an open concept allowing for a gracious flow and easy living. The kitchen is a cook’s delight with high-end appliances, thoughtfully designed cabinetry, and granite countertops throughout.

From the over-sized French doors, you can step out onto the charming brick patio. There is a rose garden and the yard is enclosed by lilac bushes that surround the perimeter. This is a lovely spot to watch the sunrise or set, or simply take in the clean mountain air and views.

The owners, Michael Schriber and Christina Alfieri live next door and can be as helpful as you like in suggesting day trips and things to see and do in Santa Fe. They know the area exceptionally well, have a great love for the outdoors, especially mountain biking, and also own and operate a boutique travel business sending guests to Africa. With this combined knowledge and expertise Mike and Christina can add an unparalleled personal touch to your stay.

Southwestern Getaway

We had an amazing stay! The house was stocked with everything we needed-paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, shampoo & conditioner, etc. We loved the view and the house was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable. The pictures do not do this home justice! It is perfect for a single family getaway. We ended up staying an extra night because we didn’t want to leave!

Short get away

A wonderful view. Quiet location and away from traffic. Excellent location to walk to Canyon Rd and Plaza - a mile ea. The house is nicely decorated and perfect for a couple.

Scenic oasis a short walk from Plaza

What a beautiful property! Normally we stay in town but this place has likely become a go-to for us on next visits. It is a short walk into the Plaza so you get the best of both worlds. Views, serenity, and yet proximity to all that Santa Fe has to offer. Comfortable too--especially the bed. Made it hard to get up.

Great Explorations

Casa Miguel is a great location to explore the art of Georgia O’Keefe. Highlights included day trips to Ghost Ranch to see the landscapes that inspired her painting & a visit to her modest Abiquiu winter home (reservations a must for these guided excursions). Christina has beautifully appointed the single-level property that lies along a well-graded gravel/dirt road. We appreciated the quiet safe neighborhood, even heard coyote yips in the early morning!

Santa Fe in May

This property is ideal for two adults. It is spacious, clean, and has all the amenities needed for a lengthy stay. The only downside for us - and it was minor, is that it is on a dirt road which makes walking to town or Canyon Road in nicer shoes and clothes a bit inconvenient. We had a car and used it often. Otherwise, everything was great. We would come again.

An Excellent Second Stay

This is our second time renting from Christina and Michael. We were happy to return to such a lovely house. Everything was immaculate and well-appointed, and we enjoyed our two weeks sitting on the patio and walking downtown. Santa Fe is so different from our trip one year ago. Everything is open, including restaurants, museums, and music venues. We hope to return!

Another lovely stay!

This is our second stay at this gorgeous historical Eastside home. It is in a perfect location, well stocked with kitchen supplies, and a modern open concept but still with privacy. I noticed a little fire pit on the patio on our second visit, we didn't use it but we will be t time. Thank you Christina!

Perfect casita, perfect location

This was our second stay at this perfect casita rental, which says a lot about our enthusiasm. It’s a great little casita, beautifully furnished and in a great neighborhood that combines old style Santa Fe ambience and character that is also within easy walking reach of downtown. Yet you feel like you’re in a little pueblo. The owners are wonderful. Don’t pass this one up; it’s special and I know of what I speak.

Hidden gem

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It is updated and comfortably furnished. You can’t beat the location. It is close to the plaza and Canyon Road. The patio is lovely with a rose garden and we enjoyed our coffee in the morning and wine in the evening! The bed was comfortable with crisp linens and good pillows. The house was immaculate! We texted Christina when we arrived and she responded immediately. It was a perfect stay. We will definitely rent this house again!

Amazing Santa Fe rental

This property was so perfect for an anniversary weekend! It was immaculate and there was everything we needed! Loved the location so we could walk into town (about .8mile) and the views were great. I would rent this unit again and again! Thank you Christina! My only constructive feedback would be- would love to know exactly how to get in unit once we arrived, saving us time going to the owner’s home and if there was coffee available, would have made it even better. But…..zero complaints here! Can’t wait to return!

Exceeded Expectations

This property is a Santa Fe gem! We loved being up in the hills overlooking the mountain range. The property is even nicer than the pics on the listing. Spacious, lots of closet space and a lovely patio where we enjoyed our morning coffee. Great location, close to the plaza and restaurants. Christina and Mike were fantastic hosts and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Tiny complaint -WiFi service was slow at times. Highly recommend this lovely and well appointed property.

We had a lovely time here. The space was perfect for our stay. We can't really say enough about it: the furniture and bed were very comfortable; there was plenty of space to hang out, play games, dine; the view of the mountains was a pleasure. The kitchen was very well stocked--everything was in excellent shape, and we needed nothing. (In fact, we bought a tea ball, thinking there probably wasn't one, then found there were two!) It was a short, easy drive to anywhere in downtown. The hosts were very helpful and responsive, and checking in and out was simple.

The Best of Both Worlds

We have stayed in great Eastside properties before and enjoyed the convenience and ambience. The only problem was, we couldn't see the glorious New Mexico sky and mountains from our rentals. Casa Miguel solves that problem. A great location, a classic Santa Fe home given a modern twist, and the views we go to NM for. The property lives much larger than its stated size, thanks to the large windows and doors that bring the outside in. It was very cold during our stay, but in-floor heating kept it toasty inside. The kitchen is very well equipped; we lacked for nothing. We will be back!

Santa Fe Relaxation

My husband, 9 month old, and I stayed at Casa de Miguel on the Hisotric Eastside in Sante Fe for 4 night/5 days and couldn't have been happier with our VRBO choice. We did not have an agenda when arriving in Santa Fe other than decompressing from our daily routine and work, and we did just that. Our choice of stay was perfect in style, location, size, and was exactly our taste. The house is modern, clean, open, and we appreciated the finer quality details and finishes. The location was close to the plaza and accessible to pretty much everything even though it is located within a labyrinth of a neighborhood. The photos of the house are an accurate reflection of the property and there is a mountain view from the kitchen window as depicted. The owners, Christina & Michael, were available if needed but also respected our privacy while vacationing. I would definitely recommend this property without hesitation.

What a gem!

We have to say that the online photos do not really reflect the layout and how nicely furnished this property is! It is a perfect little apartment designed for a couple to stay in with all the comforts: a king-sized (comfortable) bed, a walk-in closet, ceiling fans, a private patio ( a adjacent to a quiet dead-end road) with portable fire place and grill, thoughtfully and well-supplied kitchen and full laundry. We loved the aesthetic of the furniture and linens and the design of the modern bathroom and rugs on the polished concrete floor. The art is tastefully chosen and hung. We have stayed in many places and can accept a wide range of surroundings but this one was a true pleasure. We also enjoyed walking all over he downtown area and Canyon Rd. We only used the car for day trips to Taos and surroundings. We are loath to praise this place too much as we'd like to be able to return, lol!

A delightful place to stay

We are a couple in our 60's from the UK who have vacationed in the USA for the past seven years. We always spend up to a week in Santa Fe and attend opera performances. After staying in the same VRBO for two years, which was very convenient and ideal for our needs, I chose Casa Miguel, despite it costing more than twice what we paid last year, because I wanted to be able to see the mountains, as shown in the photos on the website. Unfortunately, a coyote fence has now been erected, which means that the mountains are visible only when you stand up in the garden or when you are at the kitchen sink. This was a pity as the house is absolutely lovely, clean, very well equipped and its owners were charming and helpful.I do appreciate the need for the fence, but, given that I had paid a lot of money for a mountain view, I felt slightly let down. That said, we were thrilled with the house and all the mod cons and space. Although the walk to the Plaza is easy, I am not sure that I would want to do it in the dark. I'd like to reiterate that this is a beautiful, spacious and excellently equipped house.

Michael Schriber and Christina Alfieri are the owners of Casa Miguel. Michael, originally from Dayton, OH moved to Santa Fe in 1970. He is a designer/builder and metal fabricator. He designed and built Casa Miguel and also custom built many of the unique features of the property. Mike is an avid mountain biker and has been riding the Santa Fe trails for over three decades. He is happy to share his knowledge of the trails here in Santa Fe - undoubtedly some of the best mountain biking in the country!

Christina, moved to Santa Fe in 1998 from New York. She owns and operates Africa Calls, Ltd. - a small boutique travel company specializing in custom designed safaris to Southern and East Africa. Africa Calls' success is due namely to their incredible attention to detail and ability to perfectly match the traveler to the place.

With many years of customized travel planning and an in-depth knowledge of Santa Fe and the southwest, together Michael and Christina can help to create the perfect New Mexican getaway.

Casa Miguel is uniquely situated a short walk from the Plaza and Canyon Road with the best mountain views from an in-town location! You can mountain bike and hike from your doorstep and decide last minute to drive up the mountain for a day of skiing (16 miles to the Santa Fe Ski Basin).

Casa Miguel is a newly built, custom home (completed in 2013) with a HERS rating of 64, exceeding all standards for a green home including indoor air quality. The house is a soft contemporary. It has radiant heated colored concrete floors, wood ceilings with vigas and overhead fans, oversized French doors, hand plastered diamond finished walls and a beautifully appointed kitchen with high-end appliances.

The owner, Michael has custom built a number of pieces of furniture. The house is relaxed and comfortable, yet clean and simple.
