How can a short review reflect all the charm of this stay? Really, you have to stay here to see for yourself. The house and property are picturesque. Over 150 years old, brick with refined accents, well-maintained, and in a beautiful historic neighborhood. A recently added little babbling waterfall flows into a koi pond, with a comfortable gazebo nearby. I started each day with a few quiet minutes there as I enjoyed the morning sun.The Maid's Quarters is small and quaint but gorgeous inside. Two upstairs bedrooms had comfortable beds that we got great sleep in. Downstairs has a cozy living room, kitchenette, and modern, tasteful bathroom with a tile/glass shower. Everything was clean, thoughtfully appointed, and well cared for.We also had the good fortune to meet the owners, Jeanine and Dylan. They were so nice, and their pride in helping guests feel at home was obvious. Their personal touches made our stay better, like the snack basket and the local events calendar that let my son add something fun to our itinerary: starting our Saturday morning off at Coffee & Cars. Communication was great, too, especially with our late arrival, and their local recommendations were wonderful. In short, we had a great stay. Being in easy walking distance of downtown, the river, the historic riverfront district, and multiple parks meant we could enjoy Rockford without constantly jumping in the rental car. We highly recommend the Maid's Quarters and hope for another chance to visit!
