Best Of The Black Hills Lake Side Property—Fun, Relaxation, And Excitement

Looking to find the best that the Black Hills has to offer? This mountain cabin overlooking a huge lake is the ideal home base to discover it all. The fun begins only a few steps away from the back door with a lake where you can fish for trout (catch and release is greatly appreciated), swim and/or use the paddle boat.

Every day will bring new experiences as you choose to visit many of the Black Hills' major attractions that are only a few minutes' drive away. Lifelong memories will be created as you enjoy the grandeur of Mount Rushmore or take in the magnificence of Crazy Horse Memorial or ride the 1880s steam train. Exciting adventures abound with water skiing and jet skiing on surrounding lakes (Pactola Reservoir and/or Sheridan Lake), biking and hiking on Mickelson Trail, or ATV riding on some of the most beautiful trails anywhere. The history of the old west will come alive as you visit historic Deadwood which is about an hour's drive.

When the day's adventure is over you'll relax in the tranquil and secluded surroundings of our cabin. As the sun goes down you can enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature and wildlife as you watch the moon rise over the mountain and the stars begin to sparkle on crystal clear nights.

Perfect location for riding a motorcycle through some amazing scenery. We received a warm welcome and walk through from the host who immediately made us feel at home. Went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. Would 100% book again.

Just a short trip to several sites like Mt. Rushmore
Also minutes from Crazy Horse
Did I mention Custer Park and the buffalo just a short drive.

We first stayed at this property 10 years ago. Since then we've traveled to many other places, but we are all in agreement this is our favorite! Enjoying coffee on the deck in the morning, splashing in the the lake, and grilling/chilling on the deck in the evenings makes for the perfect vacation spot.

Peaceful and beautiful

Our family had a great stay with Wanda and Paul! This place is very scenic. Our kids loved taking the paddle boat out and fishing. We caught trout in the pond and observed a variety of wildlife. The kitchen was well stocked and Wanda was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Gated community and very quiet which was nice to escape the commotion of the small towns we visited. The place was well kept with many thoughtful touches from the hosts. Very happy with our stay

Our stay was amazing! The view is gorgeous! Wanda welcomed us upon arrival and it was great knowing they were right next door if we needed anything. The whole family enjoyed using the lake to swim, fish, and use the paddle boat provided. The condo was clean and accommodating. We brought our UTV. The trails are located very close to the property. Great location!

A Little Slice of Heaven

Great place to unwind. The views, quiet, and comfort are second to none. If we come back to the area, we will definitely stay here again. The hosts are very amiable and responsive.

A beautiful property

2nd time staying here, absolutely beautiful view off the back deck, looks like a Bob Ross painting. Cabin has everything you need, lots of things to do within a 30 minute drive. Wanda and Paul are just great people and we’re very friendly and helpful to our family. This area is great if you’re going to the black hills and you’ll find yourself wanting to go back to the cabin and fish, cook or just sit on the deck and enjoy the views. Would highly recommend a stay here, my kids didn’t want to leave

Family getaway

Was the perfect cozy spot. Close enough to town but far enough to be close to nature. Felt like a family cabin. Wanda and Paul were so friendly and welcoming. Would absolutely come back again.

Great place to stay!!

Paul and Wanda are excellent hosts! My parents and I had a great time and would definitely stay in this location again! It was so nice to have a quiet, cozy, home to come back to after touring the tourist attractions. The home has everything you might need when traveling and then some. The hosts are very thoughtful! I will be telling my students back in Kansas all about my trip when school starts back up. This was a relaxing way to end summer!

Lakeside Delight!

We stayed at Wanda and Paul’s condo for 4 nights and would have loved to stay longer! The condo was extremely comfortable and was the cleanest I have ever booked. We received a warm welcome from Wanda when we arrived and she gave us the details and even brought a complimentary bottle of wine for the adults and sparkling grape juice for our son. It was very hot when we stayed and she had the air conditioner all set and fans available for extra comfort. The condo was in a gated community with spaced out homes and condos situated around a beautiful lake.it was so peaceful, and still very close to area attractions such as Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave, Newel Cave, Crazy Horse and much more.Hill City was an easy 15 minute drive. The condo had absolutely everything we needed and more. The beds were comfortable and the washer/dryer was a life saver! There were lots of games (inside and outside) and even our own paddle boat to use with life jackets of all sizes. The water was a little chilly but our son still managed to get in some swimming. The back deck overlooked the lake and has a large gas grill and fire pit along with table and chairs for outdoor dining. I had coffee on it every morning enjoying the peace and beauty of the lake. Perhaps the most special was the fishing pole and worms that Wanda and Paul left for us to use because they knew how badly our son wanted to fish. If you are coming to the Black Hills area you should absolutely consider this location.

Excellent property with fabulous hosts

We had a wonderful experience with this rental! It is about 15 minutes from the downtown of Hill City and very remote, but we enjoyed the privacy and serenity! Our kids loved the pond - fishing and paddle boating. We loved the back patio and view. Wanda and Paul were awesome hosts (they live in the condo right next store to this rental). We were welcomed to the very homey rental with a welcome message for our family on the chalk board. Also Paul brought over a bottle of wine and sparkling wine for our kids. All of the little touches were so nice, such as candy filled in the dish, all soaps/shampoos, laundry/dishwasher soap, garbage bags, etc. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a private, beautiful setting!

The place was amazing and host couple did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. The only thing that site could communicate more clearly is that 2nd bedroom is not really a room but space at top of stairs. Otherwise, the condo was clean and the setting was absolutely beautiful. I will return if I ever plan another trip to Black Hills area.

Fantastic get away

This property is lovely. It’s off the beaten path and away from town. For us that are used to country living, it was perfect. The kids loved the pond. All the games that are provided were an excellent way to spend time as a family. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Beautiful!!

My family and I had a fabulous stay! Wanda and Paul were very welcoming and the house was clean and cozy. Our favorite feature was the absolutely stunning lake and view. There was so much space for my kids to play and explore. They especially loved the lake and seeing so much wildlife! We can't wait to go back.

A little slice of serenity

This property was just what my family needed. It’s tucked away in a private area and we were able to fish each evening. The space was clean and had everything we needed plus some extras like games and the fixings for smores. We were very happy!

Great home base

We had an epic vacation with our family of four (two kids 8 & 9). This home was the perfect home base, centrally located and still off-the-beaten-path. They were great hosts and very responsive. The house was fully stocked and we cooked some great meals in their kitchen and on the grill. The kids loved playing by the lake. The scenery was beautiful. The one thing that we were disappointed by when we first arrived is that it wasn’t as secluded as the pictures made it seem. The owners live in an attached rental unit and there are a number of other similar town homes in the culdesac. This ended up being a plus for us, because our kids had a ton of fun fishing with other kids staying in a different rental unit. And the hosts were not intrusive at all. It ended up feeling pretty private. But it’s something worth noting just in case you are looking for something totally private. Even with our surprise, we were happy we stayed there because it really was the perfect home base.

God’s Country

Quiet Haven

If you want to get away from it all this is the place. It is a little bit of a drive from Hill City but well worth it for the view along with the peace and quite. There were geese every morning and even some deer across the little lake in the evening. Although we did not get to spend as much time here as we had wished we are considering this place for our next trip to the hills. Wanda was very kind and our place was clean and comfortable!
