North Fork Sound Front Beach House

Designed by renowned architects Abercrombie & Vieyra for their private use, this 4 bedroom, sound front home with a private beach is a dream come true. Only 7 minutes from Greenport & close to the amazing vineyards and farm stands of the North Fork, this home is the perfect getaway, and a real treasure for those with an appreciation for architecture and design.

Beautifully restored to original condition, the house boasts an open floor plan with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Sound. The house has central heat and air conditioning, a spacious deck with a BBQ and dinner table, fast Wi-Fi, and a brand new Sonos sound system. The kitchen has all new stainless steel appliances, a wine refrigerator, and is fully stocked with a french press, coffee grinder, electric kettle, microwave, toaster, pots/pans, cupcake and cookie trays.

The two waterfront rooms each have Queen beds. A third bedroom has two twin beds, and the fourth bedroom/library has a Design Within Reach Sleeper Sofa (i.e. no uncomfortable bar in your back) with a queen size mattress.

Located steps away from the Horton's Point Lighthouse, the house is close to everything the north fork has to offer while feeling incredibly private.

We were very happy and had a great time! The photos of the house were perfectly accurate. The host made sure we had all the information we needed to be comfortable. The setting, the views from the house, and the site itself were beautiful. The home is a distinctive property that suited us perfectly. We would happily return to this house again.

Wonderful stay at the Sound

We loved our stay. The house is very tranquil and has lots of character. The host was lovely, efficient and very communicative and accommodated our family in her house at short notice. We enjoyed the view, beach, garden and fun things to do in the vicinity. Great stay

This unique house is in great location with a beautiful view of the Sound. It has nice large living area with spectacular views and a terrific out door space for BB’Q and a quiet morning cup of coffee. Kate was very quick to respond to a few minor issues.

Spectacular

Truly amazing house, gorgeous location, wonderful experience overall. The host was lovely & highly responsive. I know the North Fork well & have rented vacation properties out here for many years. This place is really something special. We will definitely be back.

House with a view

This home has a fabulous outdoor space for viewing the sea , grilling and dining outdoors and a perfect flat yard for playing with young children.. The design of the house is clever in that there are 4 bedrooms 2 on either side of the house separated by bathrooms. The clever part is the way the doors to those bathrooms and bedrooms interplay making the space a little too intimate unless it’s your family in the other bedroom. The owners food is in cabinets and freezer which we were not expecting otherwise the kitchen was a joy to cook in ! Watch out on the stairs going down to beach if it’s been rainy. They become extremely slippery. Use the stairs at the nearby lighthouse instead.

Peaceful, lush and spectacular view of the sound

The house is super modern and nicely furnished. The kitchen is really well stocked so cooking was a pleasure. You can see the Sound as you are cooking! Rabbits, beautiful. It’s and butterflies greet you on the back deck. Really lovely and relaxing.

Gorgeous Modern Home with Spectacular View

We had a truly amazing and relaxing week at this beautiful home overlooking the water. The unique design of the house with floor-to-ceiling picture windows across the entire front and back give you the impression of being part of the outdoors even if you are sitting in the living room. Our little girl especially loved watching the bunnies playing on the front yard. The amenities of the house are top notch with high quality appliances all hidden from view within cabinets and a cool sound system. The house and deck were both immaculate and the view was stunning. It was great to be able to walk down to the beach directly below, and we found the steps fairly easy, even for a small child. The house is centrally located for all the best restaurants and attractions, making everything easily accessible. We would love to be back at this house again, and really enjoyed working with the hosts. Kate's list of local things we needed to know was so comprehensive and well thought out. They were a true pleasure - proactive and extremely responsive, and just overall nice people that went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.

Sixties Modern Glass House

It was an excellent experience. The home was beautiful and the view majestic; overlooking the water surrounded by beautiful flowering shrubbery. We loved walking down the stairs to the pebbled beach and taking in the vista. The owner was extremely helpful and considerate of my family’s particular needs.

Our second stay was great and we hope to return!!

The air, the sunsets, steps to the beach. This is a very special place. Walk along the rural roads, visit the pleasant restaurants, enjoy talking with the friendly people. The house is bright and very comfortable and offers great water views. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is pretty and fresh. There is plenty of outdoor seating.

Love this home! Love the view!

A beautiful, comfortable home with a wonderful view of the Sound. So peaceful to be here. The kitchen -- refrigerator, oven, microwave -- easily prepared our complete Thanksgiving dinner (including home made cinnamon rolls!) The house was warm, the beds comfortable, and the TV was appreciated. We enjoyed the beach, the Village of Southold and the nearby nature preserve.

This is a special place - funky and different, but with everything you would want - fireplace, beautiful views, serene location (slept perfect - no traffic at all). Greenport is cool - great restaurants and boutique shops. Southold also has a little town area to walk around. There is a coffee shop we went to with great breakfast. A really nice retreat from the city.

City Escape

My friends and I spend a weekend at this amazing house. The views from the floor to ceiling windows are breathtaking. The design is so unique. I went for runs through the quiet neighborhood and walks along the water, which is accessible from the backyard. It's easy to curl up with a book by the fireplace or sit at the circular dinner table and chat. You can wake up to a view of the water and it's just down the road from Greenport for a night out or day-trip to Shelter Island. A magical getaway.

Wonderful waterfront hideaway

My friends and I spent a wonderful weekend here this winter. The house is gorgeous and relaxing, and sits atop a cliff overlooking the Long Island Sound. We woke to the the most gorgeous views of the water, and took an easy walk down the cliffside stairs to the beach. Close to the jitney and train stops, as well as Greenport's restaurants and shops. I'm looking forward to returning over the summer.

Superb Rental for a Girls' Weekend or a Romantic Getaway

Four of us rented this house for a long weekend, and it was fabulous. The house itself is very modern and clean, and the floor-to-ceiling windows give spectacular views. There are two stairways down to the beach, one right off the backyard, and another just a few steps from the front door. The views of the sunset, both from inside the house and down on the beach, were incredible. The house was also less than a five minute drive from the grocery story and wine shop... as well as the best of the vineyards!! All in all, I can't say enough good things about this place. It was the perfect place for our long weekend.

Gorgeous house with great views of the ocean. Magnificent sunsets from deck. The house has everything - modern, fully equipped with great music system and TV. Fantastic location - secluded and quiet but close enough to town and vineyards. We would definitely rent again. Perfect for family or couple. Landlord is easy & a pleasure to deal with.

Amazing views, gorgeous interior design, fantastic beach access, lovely host!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing weekend in this home with several friends over MLK weekend. First off, it is super easy to get to either by car or Jitney/LIRR (bus/train). We drove, and then picked up friends who took the Jitney (close to the LIRR stop), which is only about two miles from the house. An easy walk if you don’t have too much stuff or a short cab ride (a quick search for Southold taxi/car service should do it). The magic really started when we got to the house. The view is breathtaking, which you can enjoy from almost anywhere in the house thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. We arrived after dark so enjoyed the stars for a bit and then explored the home which is spectacularly well laid out. The feel of the space betrays the square footage because it is so wonderfully open and thanks to all the gorgeous windows you feel like you are outside. But then when my boyfriend and I nestled into bed we couldn’t hear another soul in the place even though all the other bedrooms were full. Part of the genius of the design is that the combination of pocket and swinging doors with the bathrooms separating the rooms – means that when the bedrooms are closed you are in a truly quiet, private space. If it weren’t January I bet we would have had the windows open and heard the waves! When we were in the house, most of the time the eight of us were enjoying drinks and meals together, either lounging on the ample couch space or sitting around the lovely round dining table. Again with the cool weather, we didn’t spend much time enjoying the outdoor space but I hope we’ll get back as the barbecue and outdoor furniture looked quite inviting for an fete. And even despite the cold, we did appreciate having the stairs just out back to enjoy gorgeous walks on the beach and up around the lighthouse park just a few steps from the house. Since we had a car, one day we ventured over to Greenport and enjoyed popping into the shops and doing tastings at the Greenport Brewery. The next day we took the car ferry over to Shelter Island to hike around the Mashomack preserve (a massive preserve maintained by the Nature Conservancy), and the took a drive around the island to take in the views. Finally, you couldn’t ask for a more lovely host. We found everything as promised, and when we couldn’t the broom to sweep up a pasta spill (almost all the walls are cupboards or closets!), the host was very responsive. You’ll enjoy your time here!

Beautiful!

I spent a weekend at the house with friends and it was such a great refuge from the city. It had everything we needed and then some (like a wine fridge!). It is just as clean, equipped and modern as the photos and description indicate. The design of the house is brilliant and allows everyone their private space but plenty of common room to gather and enjoy eachother's company. And you can wake up to the loveliest views of the water. It was a great find and close to town where we ate at the diner and had beer tastings at the local brewery. When can I go back?

Outstanding Vacation Home

We had a great weekend here! My husband and I are both architects and love the house. It is really a beautiful piece of mid century architecture. Great layout for entertaining with amazing views. Looking forward to heading back in the summer so we can spend more time walking the beach.
